Tead's Indoor-ish, Winter, Hempy, OGK, SOG

Lol. Are we sure they're 100% female?

Naw... we're good with the topless waifs... they appear to be mostly street kids trying to make a dime.
The ones we're not sure about would never stoop to such levels. They like to try to have some class. I've seen some scary things early in the morning left over from the previous evening outside the tranny bar. Sure makes an early morning bicycle commute a bit more interesting....

Feeding and photos....

First up... Betty of course. The "outside" probe is in the veg tent. And yes, I know it's silly to keep posting her... but it's Betty... don't be badmouthing the lady!

I think my Osmo Girl may be dead. She's way to dark green. No growth. Signs of death. I suspect her initial osmo mix was too much for her. Next one will be done differently. Still watering her tho...

The 5Gal girl... had a rough life as a clone, but coming out of it well.

Took a clone from this one yesterday. She's doing great. I suspect she'll be next into the flower area.

I've been making ugly clones lately. Time to step that game up a touch. Small plastic tub painted black. 2" holes. Air pump to airstone in bottom.
Cover top with foil. Poke small holes for plants to stick thru. Grow clones. Rip foil to remove clones.

Itchin to take some clones and try her out. Gotta wait for a touch more growth.

Well a rough estimate is better then nothing thanks tead. Would you recommend light nutes before the roots hit the res? Once again sorry for all the questions lol not trying to side track your journal lol

Hey lex, I grow Hempy with GH nutes and I start feeding as soon as my rooted clones go into Hempy pots. Depending on the room conditions and how fast the perlite dries out, I don't necessarily have to water every day. I've noticed that the more often you water during the first week, the healthier the plants seem though.. I feed based on one of the basic schedules in the link below, with almost spot on results for my strains. It's probably about the same as Tead's 1/4 strength starting out.

Nutes - What To Use & How To Use Them - Tutorial

Oh I've tried.... no joy tho. She stays clad past 100 dammit!

I think she's winking at me! I have to admit I wondered about what happens at higher temperatures too..

I think the next attempt will start with no osmo in the pot. Then mix into the top layer of perl when I'm ready to start normal feeding.
That the next plan. Tempted to mix some into one of the currently going girls.

It's a bummer that she's not looking good. You could always use your "floating" technique to transplant though, right?

The osmo grows that I saw mentioned putting a layer of osmo just above the drain holes, and nowhere else. Maybe with yours being mixed into the perlite, it was a bit much for her? I'm still interested in this method- we'll figure it out!

I think she's winking at me!

I've been trying to smoke enough to get her to dance. Not yet tho...

I could float in another larger plant, but I think the better option there is to add osmo to an existing bucket.
The osmo info I read lead me to layer the top 1/3 with the osmo.
I'm curious about the drain hole placement of the osmo. Using that method, I would only be feeding from the res. I don't think I want that. I want the nutes to mix thru the entire medium and touch the whole root mass. This kind of also speaks to my "hempys are more like soil" ideas. I want my "soil" to be feeding evenly thru the entire bucket instead of just from the bottom.
Am I makin sense or just talking out my ass.... dunno. Might have to get a damn plant to grow to find out.

Yeah, I completely agree with you on the hempy-like-soil idea. This is the way that I think abot it: the only thing is that the clones can't handle many nutes straight away, so they need to get some root mass before they can start taking up more nutes. So you need some way to distance the new roots from the nutes. Those are just my thoughts, but I'm not even sure they make complete sense to me..? :)

Anywho, I also figure the nutes are going to be dissolved (a bit) in the water going over them, and that water is going to wick through the perlite. So you should have mostly-even nutes everywhere in the medium, no matter where you put the pellets, right?

Thanks jojo lol i been through that thread you linked like 50 times lol. So as far as clones go you give light nutes pretty much right away? I always thought that any would burn the new roots lol.

Normally, I water my clones with a 1/4tsp Grow per gallon mix. I spray with that mix as well. Osmo girl got water alone, so I assume I put too much N in the pot with the osmo.
I've thought of many ways to deliver the osmo, but I think I'm gonna stay with the top 1/3 method. I want the water to wash over the osmo on it's way down thru the pot, then leave a nutrient mix in the bottom to be sucked up by the plant and wicked up thru the medium. This is what makes logical sense inside my melon. I'd worry about concentrating them in one area... seems like a big old N hotspot in the works.

Anyway... It's not an issue... it's just an experiment, and they often fail. I took a clone from 4th gear a few days ago... I'll start her on clear water and use MUCH less osmo to start.

Tead I remember Doc's Osmocote+ thread. He had the plants in 16oz cups first and watered by putting Osmocote pellets in a bucket and adding water then checking ppm and adjusting pH. He then used this @450 ppm solution to top water. Then when they were rooted well he put them into hempys with osmo just above the drain hole and also up near the top.
Un-Lucky Queen 12/12 Hempy
His were seedlings but it still makes sense to me for clones.

Yea.. he sure did... and I shoulda. I'm not really good at cloning all together. The only thing that saves me in the area is my local high humidity.
I expect I'll get some really healthy clones with big root action from my DIY cloner. My clone game has been half assed for many years.

Damn lazy ethos.

I can see how the roots might not even grow through a layer of osmo, so I like your idea of the top 1/3. Now we just have to wait this experiment out.. Man this hobby is so drawn out! Maybe that's good for us lazy people?

I've still to read through Doc's journal, and I've been meaning to for weeks. Maybe tonight, if I have time after chopping my Cat Pee plant!
