Tead's Indoor-ish, Winter, Hempy, OGK, SOG

Do it once like I'm advising you and you're gonna get more smoke, I know it goes quickly

Advice noted. I'll get out the wires and tie some mommas down.
I had to tie down a girly in the lights the other day. Knuckled the spike, but it didn't seem to notice. I've been pondering a whole plant of knuckled branches.

Man... I've been sittin on a pile of photos I keep meaning to talk about. No time baby... no time.

This is fun. The plant on top is my old school OGK. The plant below it is a seed from the OGK strain that was pollinated by an UltraDog.
I caught them holding hands (leaves touching) in the veg tent the other day. Fun.
Side note, you can see the effects of 106f on some of the older growth on both these plants.

The veg tent is really looking good these days.... full of PVC tubes.

Some examples of the root issues caused by the heat. The colors are off a bit. The entire mass was a shade or two darker than normal with spots of really woody looking root mass.

Looking good :thumb: - especially for 106F

Damn that's hard.... I know you got to have issues growing in well,,, there. You nee to look into a swamp tube. I've grown with them before in the swamps and island areas of the delta. Just not the same delta. Sacramento River Delta. A MILLION of small blackberry covered islands, with a ready water source. Real easy for a 'fisherman' to use a little mini-pump to water with, while your partner fishes and keeps on point. Or find a place the tidal influence brings water up during high water right up to a foot of your plants. We used that heavy wire and made a tube tied with wire, half buried in the ground. What you really are doing is an honest true to the word flood and ebb grow. Gravels in the bottom and a layer soil with a old towel hanging out the bottom as a whick, to use the tides flood stage to water your plants. Acouple times a day. Funny I see people using the same principle as what I did 25 years ago. Like growing in trees... That works great too. But that's more than I know how to type. Must be nice when one can type. Gotta larn to spell first...
But here I snivel when it breaks 100 here. I don't think you could do a hydro outdoors in your neck of the woods.. Unless you had a chiller of some sorts. I'm just not one, yet, into the dirtless dirt. Hell, I'm still not used to the words soilless substrate. I do have acouple of them eco-farms? The octagon shaped ones, abit larger than the water farm units drip ring systems. Ran them clay 'rocks' and GH ferts. Did pretty good for not knowing the strain and shit got top heavy ass hell. I'd imagine you have to do alittle proping up when in flower.. My Homeboy "Wolfman' he did hydro. He did half the barn with flood and ebb trays. Dude we had the perfect place to grow, a old barn that was turned into a greenhouse,, and a sellers market of 4 grand a pound. Funny,,, the first year Cali passed prop 215 for medical, I had card #35, is the year we got popped for getting to big for our britches.. We had 350 lb's packaged up and 187 plants about 10' tall in full bud when the cops showed with a warrent. Well acouple years later................. Keepem Green

You need to look into a swamp tube.

You can find 'em all over out in da swamps. Tead prefers dry land... so the swamp tubes are a touch less attractive. Always loved the idea tho. Ebb and flow in the damn swamps man.... awesome all around.

I'll bet it took a day or two for that one to get 'funny'.

On that note, let's spread some plant photos and tempt fate.... shall we?

The last of the red hot 2Ls. A poor cooked KaliAK. Clipped her and shoved her into the dry box.

Put a little cloner together. Didn't like the bag cloners... just a little too problematic getting the clones in or out.
Note the very high (relatively) hempy hole... I want the medium to stay wetter, so I raised it way up. We'll see how well it works in 2 weeks.

Interesting cloner. I been thinking about cloning methods lately and I think I am going to take your advice and use my old rapid rooter method with that Sue Ziploc twist. Was doing alright before, I think the bag will be just the trick.

I don't think you need that torch much... Cept to blast the pipe...... That sounds odd.........

I used to have problems with moisture and rot under completely covered clones. Lately, I've been using those black baggies or the tubes and having no problems at all with decay. Dunno. Keep an eye out for rotting leaves and open the humidity dome (ziplock bag) some to let fresh air in if you see any signs of leaf death.

I've been pre-heating them before they hit the garden. Boil 'em up for a few minutes before you grill them in the oven... just like a sausage!

I've not found a need for a boat... yet... but I sure know where to find one in a pinch.
Tead's been waiting for an excuse to row a pirogue down Esplanade for many years now.

Hey Tead!

After hurricane Betsy in 1965 flooded the city (Industrial canal breached along France Rd), I did get to row a pirogue (OK, it was a flat bottom) down Franklin Ave to Capdoe high school!

They were just working on the Franklin Ave underpass area, and there were still houses and stores where I-10/I-610 intersect. It wasn't too bad, mosquitoes sucked, but no one was killing each other like post Katrina anyways. Capdoe was the only 4 story building for a mile or two at the time, and we ended up living on the third floor for almost a week. There was no FEMA, no rescues, no helicopters saving people from rooftops, just folks helping each other out ... and sharing a boat to traverse Franklin from St Claude to the Lake (Gentilly/Chef) was a dry spot! Just had to share that with a Homie.

I hope you get a safe chance to row down Esplanade some day!

Cheers
Keith

Ha!
Luv it. Franklin is no where anyone wants to be when da levy breaks.
I'm sure folks that don't know have little understanding why Tead wants to row a boat down the street... but some things in this world just have to be experienced to properly appreciate.
There was a story in the TimesPic regarding the recent pump failures... Kermit Ruffins (great music... media whore) rowed up to a bar over on Jeff Davis and Bienville to grab a beer. Some bar stayed open in the recent flood and was serving in at least knee deep water.
Damn... why do all the NOLA stories involve bars? Not a good sign.

Keep in mind... the media only covered interesting things during K... like helicopters. There were many more rescues executed by members of the community than all of the other agencies combined. Every bubba and his buddies drug their priogues out to grab humans. ANYONE that had a boat jumped in.
It really just blows me away how the community pulls together during such times. Crews of random humans gutting homes. Folks passing out food. The flow of human kindness expressed during such times even tends to renew Tead's faith in humanity some.

Wierd days... in so many different ways.
I remember one surreal moment. Tead weathered Katrina (gawd it almost still hurts to even utter that name) in Hattiesburg... a really poor choice. 2 days later we tried to head out of town on the freeway. I remember crossing the overpass over I-59 and looking north up the highway. All the pine trees that lined the straight, long stretch of highway had fallen onto the the highway as far as the eye could see. It looked like a big green lawn. Crazy. Tead's completely urban-ite wife got a good lesson in country roads that day.

Sorry, Tead.... I don't watch much of the real news anymore... And been awhile since I even heard the words, 'flood stage'. You guys got hella hammered.... About 10 years back I was watching the crest levels at Cape Girardeau, MO. I was living in a little Town in southern Ill called Mc Clurie I'll. Matter a fact,, the year I met Miss J,, we met over a card game on the net,,, hey if you want to find a pinochle game,, it's either the net, the old folks home, or prison to play. Well, anyways we played for acouple years first before we ever met.. Long story,, so,, anyways, the years she came to vist, I knew this real cool little place to drive down on the river,, even with a 2 wheel drive, even was a boat launch. I was alittle buzzed, jumped off the road,, and sped alittle over the crest to start down the hill''', wasn't a hill,,, just water...... Lucky I locked em up and all was good.. But later I watched the water creep up to floorboards in my old house. It was funny,, we got nailed by a tornado that touched down afew miles away.. Well the sirens started blasting in the town, Miss J is born and raised here in Portland,, well Troutdale and Gresham all her life,,, here's she visiting and I tell her whats going on,,, she wants to go take a look for it. It's acouple miles away,, all I can say is if my trailer pops apart,,, go jump in the ditch out front.. That was a bad year. My last year there was the worst ice storm seen in that area. Trees snapping sound like 30/06's cracking. Telephone pole do break under the weight of ice on the lines... They shatter loud as fuck...

Babbling.. But stay dry man... I know,, or least hope ya'll are drying out. Could be worse,,,, you could own ocean front property in Miami Beach... They are never going to dry out. They can put them houses up on piers and buy another 5-6 years... But it wood be fun,,, catch snook on the back porch? Keepem Green

Spotted in the local press....

Here's a positive note: The partial solar eclipse over the lower Gulf States will place New Orleans in the shadow for a little over two hours during the usually hotter part of the day Monday. "This should aid in dropping temperatures about 4-5 degrees before recovering to lower 90s in the mid to late afternoon,'' the Weather Service reported.

A break in the heat from a celestial source?!?! Whooodathunk.

On a less positive note, Tead notes the passing of Dick Gregory. A small touch of research will yield interesting results. I've always admired his wit and his actions. RIP... you've earned a rest my friend.

Drive by.. Poor plants are going to get confused. We are pretty close to the center of that sun thing. Just driving thru and it might be a good thing to do alittle quick frying them plants to get rid of them mites? Hows that going. Dude break out some bigger guns on all your veg plants. Azamax and one spraying with a neem product when you start flowering. Seems like you always have acouple waiting in the wings somehwere lately.. GL I need to back read...... Keepemm Green

I briefly considered putting my outside girl under the lights for the couple of hours... but then just chuckled and realized it was pretty silly to react to a little dimmed light.

I think I got rid of the mites indoors. The one in the outdoor garden is a Pineapple Chunk that was especially problematic, so she got booted directly from the veg tent to the outdoor setting. Little friggin bastards. The UDs never got hit by the mites.... interesting.

Keeping 'the wings' well filled is how I keep the machine running. I really like doing SoG. Someday I'll have to try a traditional grow, but the SoG machine is really keepin me happy.

I was peeking at your UDs. Lookin super great BTW. I haven't seen a central spike pop up like I see on my own little UDs. I wonder if you have a different pheno going or if it's just a matter of time. Love the central spike... it's pretty awesome. My UD1 clones make a huge central spike and a very even 2nd layer canopy.... kinda like 2 plants in 1.

Mites? UDs said meh  Bud worms take a liking to this strain though, but I don't suspect they're gonna jump to your grow room from the nearest corn field

I'm quite sure NCW topped his plants at least once, thus the even canopy with multiple tops.

I topped her 3 or 4 times,, on all my girls. I wanted to stay away from anything getting too big.. But this Variant I'm trying, compliments of Con there, didn't seem like it wood've gotten to be big either way. My guess is she might have gone up to 8-9 foot untopped. I can't reach that high from my hoverround. JK but is times I could've used one.. Like Portlands Zoo.. That's a shit pot of walking.. All up hill it seems. I did have afew that got 'bigger' than I wanted. Now them worms,,, I get them bad here... So I'll do my treatment come the 1st that should last till harvest. I wish it was that easy with mites.. You know they say it works on mites too I think. That wood be cool something that hangs around 3 weeks before it starts to dissipate.. And if it worked that wood be real cool.. I hate mite,, ya'll got my skin crawling.. Well, I'm going to rack abit. I gotta wake up and see that sun thing. Miss J found a 'real' set of glasses. They are counterfeiting them WTF A slick terrorist attack,, 6 million Americans get blinded looking at the sun.... That wood look real good in the public.... Well I'm outta here... Keepem Green

8-9 feet that's the exact limit of this strain.
