Tangwena's Malawi-Style Cob Cure: Fermented Cannabis

....not THAT overpowering. I think when it is in your face it is unmistakable. Potent. Like when you squish an ant....... but not -fill the house- kind of stink.....
Thank you Lazy! Good, we are still on track then!

That was sad, in that they don’t bother to ferment and cure them in the traditional way, just cob them for easy transport and stealth.

I want to believe that there are still growers who do it the traditional way. It’d be a shame if the practice died off in the country because of fast money.

We’ll do our best to learn it and pass the new traditions on.

They’re drying overnight before moving to the closet with the rest of the class.
Lovely colors on those Sue the canary looks like what I aim for in some of my cures it always produces a good effect and cure when it looks like that.
About the Malawi cobs those are just poor farmers selling pot to support their families the real ganja growers know what to do, theres plenty of less well cured stuff in Malawi.
Not every Malawian loves strong pot most of them like weak beer and weak pot believe it or not.
But the guys who like the strong stuff really know there stuff and the cobs are hell strong and cured like we are doing.
You could sell your cob on the streets of Blantyre easily I assure you.

Thank you for that reassurance Tangwena. :hugs:

Weak beer and weak pot have their place. Lol. Sometime you want to be able to drink beer all night without getting falling down piss drunk. Also it’s nice to be able to just get a little high, kinda like just being buzzed on alcohol, but not drunk.

I think the key is knowing the difference up front. If you know your weed is a less potent one, that’s fine. But if they think a less potent weed is “strong” then they are just poor consumers. Lol

I liken it to the difference between beer and hard liquor. There is a place for both. But don’t sell me watered down whiskey and tell me it’s top shelf.

Hey Scottay,

Do you remember how much you ate/chewed? The amount we are chewing is about the size of your finger tip.
It was a very small amount. About the size of my thumbnail give or take. Mannnnn did I really zoom! That stuff was like rocket fuel!!! To the moon alice!!!! :rollit::volcano-smiley:

Hmmm yes. Beauty in the eye of the beholder. What's that you say, there's crap in my eye ?

I ate a mere .3 grams of the GT cob yesterday. Got surprisingly high. Hard to imagine eating 3/4 of a gram of that!
It was a bit more of a disconnected high than I would have liked. But I can blame a small part of that on circumstances and my mood, and a bigger part on the bud itself which I harvested two weeks late. Not quite that perfect clear sativa high I'm always chasing.
The GT bud I cobbed was from a GT cross. A Thai leaning pheno of GT pollinated (I'm 90% sure now that I've reread my journal and retraced things) with an Ace strain I used to grow called Thai Stick.
I've sprouted two more of those seeds to see what I can find.

Anyway -research continues. I will try the Honduras cob again today. :passitleft:

nother thing friend,,

i am becoming, tho not in a good way, at all,,

i am becoming increasingly disappointed in my worm casting experiment,, it just does not seem to be becoming at all

i have recently started to add some fert to the first ones in the experiment,, plants did not seem happy,, droopy and pale

i thot it might be, at first, a ph issue, and perhaps it was , a bit,, but was never before, so

i dunno,, perhaps bad worm poo, perhaps a mess of things,, but perhaps a success it be not

curious if you have any thots about it,, none is fine too

Oh, silly me, wrong thred,, tee hee hee

BBeauty dafs weaseley,, ours just opening, finally

The dose is very important to get the effects you like. At home I use a digital scale but I didn't bring one with me.
Yesterday I just broke off a chunk about double what I have been taking of the Panama x Honduras cob.
Normally it gives me a very up and energetic happy day but at the higher dose was very heavy at about the 4 hour mark I just lay on the floor for about 30 mins and day dreamed but such real dreams like a movie with me as the actor in it.
I couldn't snap out of it and was lost in the dream.
When I did come round I felt really tranquilised for the rest of the day. From a speedy energetic trip to a narcotic effect from the same cob but different doses.

Hi man I have a Panama cob black as the ace of spades it is very strong and you can easily overdose on it the effects are quite scary compared to the laid back effect from the same plant cured a lighter color.
The dark colored cobs are usually very strong.

I had a similar experience the other day with a dose of the Malawi cob that was twice what I'd been trying. I also reversed my intake to brownie first and cob about 2-3 hours later. That didn't work out the way I'd planned, and sometime about four hours into the cob I had to go and just lay down for about 30 minutes or so to slow things down. I may have even fallen asleep for a few.

The rest of the evening was more subdued than I was expecting. Today I had the cob - a measured dose of about 0.4 grams - and followed with my Carnival brownie about 3 hours later. The buzz was what I'd hoped for, more energetic and focused, with no energy depletion.

I'm getting higher with each taste following another week of curing. I'm also obviously supplementing with Carnival, and it makes me curious. The rest of you chewing immature cobs, how much are you finding you consume in a day beyond the cobs at this point? I've cut back one brownie dose a day when I chew cobs.

Sorry I haven't been able to follow the thread...

Just unsealed and cut a chunk...

drying...

I smoked it last night, going to eat it today. (Couldn't help smoking all of it, about 4 grams, leaving .5 for chewing)

Sadly the buds I used are lacking in potency, I knew that once I tested the jar cured buds, but the cob has been already made. Straight buds are good smoke taste wise, but lacking potency (for me) and obviously what you put in is what comes out...

Smoke
Smoke-wise is a different league, what a experience! While "dismantling" it for grinding the scent reminded me of top quality natural fermented tobbacco leaves (I was raised in the Canary Islands, and fell in love with cigars since I was young).

I refer to the ones used for hand-rolling premium cigars (Cohiba, Montecristo, etc i.e. best of the best, creme de la creme).

The result made me think of a cannabis "cigar-yfication": original "slightly fermented citrus" aroma was kept, but was super-charged and became an "overtone"; body became thicker and deeper, like light cedary wood rounded with leathery and peppery spices. Delicious!

Even being slightly moist and plyable after being drying for 8 hours at least, it smoked absolutely slooow, uniformly and smoooth, with the whitest ash. Made me think on rolling them like cigars, i.e. rolling 5-6 grams using also cob (search EOs2ERkNi8o on the tube) or cannabis for the outer skin, I would have one stapled to my mouth all day o_O

Loving this curing method! For me, a truly Gourmet finish for the proper buds!

Notes:
I should note that my cobbing ended up being more "pressed slab" style than a malawi cob (rolled); due to the really powerful vacuum machine I used, vacuum acted like a press and the cob was pressed flat since the sweat stage, like a pressed slab.

I suspect this could impart a different character/effects to the curing, as we are preventing air pockets inside the cob vs cob rolling. Thinking it's similar to how tobbacco is fermented, leaves are placed flat on top of each other in piles, looking to prevent air pockets, so could be the key for this cigar-like curing result.

After drying (eight hours), the chunk I cut looked like hashified bud, but was still plyable, leather-like.

Great report Repuk.

A big part of me is in this cobbing thing just for that smooth fermented cure you mention. It's the way bud was, when I first started smoking. Brown fermented sativas. To find a way to cure it like that is something that's been in the back of my mind for ages.

WeaselCracker: same goes for me... this is a gourmet level finishing...

Chewing
Chewed it for about 10 minutes, keeping it for sublingual absorption. Just poured a coffee on it (having it now) , had some scrambled eggs from my beloved hens first. 0.6g chunk.

Knowing original bud is lacking in potency for me, I wonder if sublingual/digested will make a difference...

Taste was like the smell, slightly bitter but absolutely bearable.

I dont know how you manage to have even one brownie with the chewed cob you must have a huge tolerance my girl.
Today I had about 0.2g guessing it was smooth with no tired or tranquilised effect its amazing how little I need compared to other people it must be an age thing.
I do like overdosing on purpose sometimes as long as its planned but when it takes you by surprise in the wrong situation things can get out of hand.
Like yesterday if anyone had come to visit especially a straight person they would probably have called an ambulance I was def not responsive for about an hour ha ha.
