Tangwena's Malawi-Style Cob Cure: Fermented Cannabis

I got 10oz part dried from my Panama x Purple haze tester from Ace.
Here are some bud pics and one of the 5 cobs rolled ready to vac seal and sweat.

Howzit friends been awhile, I wanted to provide a quick update.

My jar-cured Guawi#3 isn't very aromatic until you break it up, its always had these nutmeg smelling stems, kinda strange/awesome. For some reason when I vape it, all this taste comes out, it is super flavorful. But my cobbed Guawi#3 is different, the terps come flying out of the bag when I open it, and it is the cobb that I sweated for a shorter period and the herb was a bit drier going in. This plant in particular seems to need heat to bring out its aromas, making the cob cure ideal.
I love this one. I guess I prefer the cobbs with a lighter touch.

Jar cured - don't get me wrong, powerful enjoyable herb.

The cob is a real tough customer and has a powerful energetic zoned out high. Would be the perfect "battle weed" lol

Beautiful cobs, mate! :goodjob:
So, what's your recipe for a light cob cure? I have over cobbed in the past and don't want to make the same mistake again...

You nailed that cure man looks like Malawi gold from Blantyre markets in Malawi great job.
Thanks a lot tangwena, you are a good teacher - people at that market must be high as fook, if their weed is like this lol
Gets my vision a bit like the beginning of a trip

Thanks bruddah, from my journal -
"I went with my plan of trying a golden-style cure (known for energetic effects and achieved with drier buds and shorter sweat and ferment times) without the corn husk. The buds were left hanging for 8 days or so (my room avg 65F/50-60Rh). I rough trimmed 40g and chucked them right into the vac bag, then I compressed the buds to the bottom of the bag and vac'd it tightly and sealed. I did this to maximize the moisture remaining in the buds. To be honest, they may have been a little dry. I then sweated it the dehydrator @110f/12hrs. The buds don't look much different after the sweat, so I decided not to open and just left it closed to get a ferment going hopefully." After that I let it sit at room temp for a week before opening. I noticed the light smell of fermentation. Then I opened and dried as usual and didn't touch much for the 3 month ageing.

Thanks for that. I might try a shorter sweat next time.

These cobs have just finished fermentation. I did a 24 hr sweat at 40 C, and almost 6 days of fermentation at 26 C.
Critical cobs on the left and Royal Creamatic on the right. They smell amazingly, especially the Royal Cream.
Edit: they are all 45 gram cobs

Cool nice dark finish dry them 75% to stop further fermentation and then seal them up to age and after a month or three they should be like hashish.

Thanks, tangwena, I appreciate the tip. I'll open them up for a while tomorrow. That gives me an extra reason to cut some off to try.:Namaste::Rasta:

Has anyone tried to cob bud that has been bud washed? I mean the lemon/peroxide/baking powder method.
Instinctively I'm thinking it won't work. I'm thinking you kill the organisms that cause the fermentation.
Does anyone know if it works?

I currently have 2 plants that are ready for harvest, but due to bugs infestation I decided to trim the plants and spray them with insecticide. Now they are full of dead bugs and eggs, and I think a bud wash is required. The plan was to cob cure the plants, but now I'm afraid it won't be possible. I don't really want the additional flavour of fermented bugs in my delicious cobs.
I'm running out of cobs to smoke. I have completely stopped to smoke buds. All buds are vaped and the cobs are smoked. Smoking buds just doesn't compare...

All my cobs were made with washed buds and they ferment just fine.

I think it’s supposed to be baking soda, not baking powder or which is different stuff. Like the others, I wash my buds and never had a problem with cobs (I just use peroxide though, no lemon or baking soda).

:passitleft:

Oh, I thought it was all the same stuff. I found Bicarbonate Sodium at the local supermarket. Is that what I'm supposed to use? I hope it is, I used it last time I washed buds.
I'm super stoked to hear your success stories with washed buds. I was certain I would have to cure them normally.

And the cobs are lying to dry, and I can't stop myself from putting them under my nose every time I see them. Hahaha, they smell soooo good. The whole apartment smells of the beautiful fragrances.

That’s baking soda, so you’re good.

:passitleft:

Phew, thanks, you had me worried there for a while. I live in Spain and hardly speak any Spanish, so sometimes it's hard to find what I need. The label on the bottle says "Bicarbonato Sódico". I found it among the baking products and it was the one I guessed was mostly like baking soda, but that was a tricky guess since I've never used baking soda myself before. I'm glad I picked the right one.
