Tangwena's Malawi-Style Cob Cure: Fermented Cannabis

So I am thinking about making my first cob with some Killing Fields I just harvested last night. It has been hanging for 24 hour at this point. I probably will not get a chance to do it until tomorrow night. How long are people letting things dry (in general) before cobbing? I do not have husks so I will probably just compressed and vacuum seal. I have a decent dehydrator I will probably use. It has digital set points but I have no real way to verify temps. Is there anything I am missing to get this started and any tips on how to roll bud into a cob without having a sushi mat?

The wetter the cob, the darker it will get. As you make them you will experiment with how wet they are when you cob. Depending on your drying conditions you'll want to cob them 24-36 hours after chop. For a golden cure, you want to cob them on the dryer end of the spectrum. My flowers are typically ready to come off the drying rack in 7-10 days depending on bud density. I like to cob them about 48-72 hours after chop. For a darker cure, cob them when they are too wet to smoke a tester. For a golden cure, cob them at the earliest point you could almost smoke a tester. You may not see any sweat if you nailed the golden window. The best thing to do is follow the flow chart at the beginning of this thread and then experiment from there.
As far as rolling the cobs, I use cling wrap to start compressing and shaping them. I'll roll the log with the cling wrap on using the sushi mat to get a nice tight compressed log. Once it's formed and holding shape, remove the cling wrap and seal it in the vacuum bag or tie it in the husks if using one.

Thank you for that Neiko. :hugs:

I’m shooting for the effect of a golden cure with the DDA, although I know it’ll never be golden. Lol! I was planning around 60-72 hours, and it’s nice to see I’m catching on to the timing.

I Signed up for the FREQUENT FLYER account and expect this is only the beginning of the
realities I will be shown :meditate:

Gazoo I’m so thrilled that you’re having so much fun exploring. :hugs: This is only the beginning.

:meditate:

Neikodog nailed it. I have found with the longer ferment of high moisture buds I seem to get less flavor. Effects are the same, stellar!

I get so high off them no matter what it’s difficult to differentiate. :laughtwo:

When you get experienced like you guys are getting you start to cure for aroma and taste as well as effects. As Sue said she gets high no matter what.
The highs do change depending on the cures it is just a matter of what you want personally from the cure and you guys are right on the money thats why I love reading your posts on this thread.
I learn a lot from your results stuff that would take a life time to find out working alone.
Love your work guys you are setting the trend for others to follow by sharing here on this thread.
Working together we can change the world for the better.

Thanks neiko I won't be able to do it until about 48 hours after chop. I don't have a sushi mat so I was wondering what I could do to roll it without one. I will try just the cling wrap and see what I can do. Thanks for the break down Neiko. :high-five:

@tangwena every time I try a little cob my world changes. :thumb:
Oh no you to?
I'm finding things hard to handle straight, its a roll of the dice whether I'm all together or off with the fairies every day when I wake up these days its uncharted water for me ha ha.

I'm just packing gifts of cob pieces for some friends and for my own consumption on a trip thats coming up in a couple of weeks time.

Today I weighed the piece of P x H cob I chewed.
Either I'm reading the scales wrong or this stuff is super potent it weighed 0.06g thats not a lot is it?
It looked so small but when I have more I spend A lot of time on the floor rolling around going arghhh a lot ha ha, and tripping off my face leaving my body and going off into varies dreams and different versions of what is thought of as reality when I'm straight.
I think I need to get back on some Golden Tiger thats like a holiday in paradise all soothing and restorative.

I did it’s somewhere in this thread. It came out awesome.

:passitleft:
Ditto for me! Pressed some cosmic glue cob with decent quantity results of very potent dabs resulting, but it is a lot more work to get to a squeeze. I like eating a bit or smoking ground up cob because it works and is a bit more frugal it seems for me,conserving my supply longer than when I press several grams for dabbing. Of course, the dabs where potent and also easy to get too much, dosing by weight and eating far safer if the unexpected might arise!! My much younger(but very experienced) associate in horticultural adventures loves the cob dabs, damn the time, effort or expense involved! Best to have a few hours your sure you can do nothing and will not be called upon to be useful or responsible!

The cob thing is new for me. The first I have done! Nice. :smokin2:This was about the last frontier of zymurgy for me! I have been making beer, wine, etc for 40 years, am a baker of sour dough from a culture I have had for years, ferment pickles, kraut and etc., make yogurt and cheese and had athletes foot once! IT would be nice to know what the fermentation process bacterium and fungi are that do the magic. A kind person with a lab and a few years should look at this and possibly grow the key species for starter packages! We then might enjoy enhanced performance within the process, quicker results perhaps. Maybe even more potency!:nerd-with-glasses: :yummy:

I heartily agree Tim. I’m hoping we catch the eye of someone just like that. :battingeyelashes: In the meantime I defy you to find a more delightful or dedicated band of brainstormersnand citizen scientists. :circle-of-love:

I keep some ground cob in a small tin to chew on all day long. I like the feeling that I’m helping my body stay youthful, limber, flexible, and strong by feeding it a regular diet of cannabis in many forms.

Tomorrow morning I’ll be vacuum-sealing the apical cola of my Dark Devil Auto. :slide:

I’d have to say the DDA cobs have been my favorites. :battingeyelashes:

The pictures of your DDA have looked lucious! :yummy:

My Doctor was asking me a lot of questions regarding chewing cobs today I think he is seeing an opportunity to branch out into herbal treatments. I told him all retirees should get into it it makes you feel alive and tuned in instead of sitting on the sidelines watching it all happen.
