Tangwena's Malawi-Style Cob Cure: Fermented Cannabis

I just flashed back to petrified pooch poop patrol in grandma's basement when I was a wee 'un. Picture I was kind of hoping the eyeball gargle with Listerine had erased all those years ago. Lot of suffering for naught, thanks for that.

I'm still gonna try it.

...by all means, give it a go...my forgetfulness cost me my first fresh cob's...but looking forward to this next go round...the P X M cob I think will be special!...sorry bout' releasing repressed memories......cheerz...h00k...:rollit::passitleft:...

Your braver than I am lol, I don't think I would have opened it :)

...curiosity killed the cat!??......given some later work experience's...I'm convinced mold or electricity won't be my demise...more likely hitting a moose on the highway,or getting on the bad side of missus' h00k......cheerz...h00k...:rollit::passitleft:...

Hi DrDoob thanks for replying! I'll get to reading again. Thought it was 24 to 48 hours in 104 degrees F. Open to see wetness. Dry or if dry close up vacuum again and put on the cable box for 1 to 2 weeks? Tell me more of you experience?
I think most people are opening them once a week. Remember that drying is going to lock in the effect. So use your nose. I’ll be 4 weeks into mine tomorrow and will probably break off a chunk for the weekend. But each time I’ve checked them they have smelled better. So when you open them to check them don’t let them get too dry....just dry to the touch. Takes mine an hr or 2. Is that about what you other folks do as well? Then back in the vacuum sealed bag. When they are how you want them, let them dry completely. Correct?

Ok now, when I put these up in the beginning they were at around 70% rh. I opened both after the sweat or close to it. They were not wet to the eye at all. They were very compact and color seemed right, meaning it looked like no mold, just tight buds. Nice to look at really. The nose is the magical measure I think. Yes intoxicating was the smell. You have a good idea to check them weekly for smell especially and of course mold and negative odor. I can't wait now. Hehe. 4 weeks in huh? I'm envious my friend. In my mind this is going to be like fine brandy or whatever one's pleasure is in that realm. Loving hash as I do and the finer things in life I can't afford, I'm looking at a breath of fresh air maybe. Yes dry completely when they seem right is what I gather

Doing some research on my Guawi and ran across this snippet

"Women are largely involved in cultivation of chamba, while men are mainly involved in marketing it. In Malawi, the marijuana buds are cured after being tightly bound in banana or maize leaves. They are sold in units called 'cobs'. "

No, no, no! You were supposed to say "I'm right here, Dum-Dum.". Doh! :p

"After being activated for 2 days you let it rest underground, in a wine cooler or in a dead goat 5' under ground. haha that's how they did it back in the day."

Were am I going to find a DEAD GOAT ?

At the present I am having difficulty re arranging my faces molecular construction after an ear to ear smile got away from me a while ago ha ha. Just tripping on some Gt cob it always does the trick for me.

Ok.... GT has to be in my future somehow, some way. :battingeyelashes:

I look forward to getting settled so I can start playing with other curing formulas. I’m still getting used to the buzz, so it’ll be a while.

So many years of fun ahead. :slide:

Was prepared to write this off as Hooey, but I'm glad I don't jump to conclusions. I have to say, it all makes sense.

This is definitely not hooey. Lol! Be forewarned, this process is somewhat addictive. :battingeyelashes:

I'm thinking removing/dabbing the moisture is removing a favorable environment for things to grow and ruin the process. Then again, I'm flying by common sense that could end up being pretzel logic.

You’re very right bustedfist. The purpose of this process is to gently coax the moisture from the cob until the nose says “Now!”, so yes, that moisture inside the bag is unwanted and will muck up the works if left alone.

Now I’m curious. I’m still two months away from harvest, but decided to buy a sous vide immersion heater and vacume sealer. I’ve been wanting to try sous vide cooking for a while and thought it would be perfect to hold the temps at 40 C to cook the cob. Something to look forward to.

I’d think a sous vide set-up would be perfect for this, if you didn’t need to keep it at that temp for 24 hours. Will that be a complication?

Seen this and thought super cob... LOL

Don’t you dare tempt us like that. Lol!

Oh guys.....ahhh.... such a delight to stop and see what fun’s afoot. @dr.h00k , that was a sad thing to find. I’m glad you had more in the making. Did you toss all of the mluldy, or were you able to salvage any for topical use?

Today was a good time to pull out the cobs and canaries, so I got to play myself. :yahoo:

I noticed the Zam x Pan cob is really crusting up. WooHoo!

The canary’s hung onto the moisture longer than the cob, so the crusting is just started.

DDA 9’s apical cola and the accompanying cobs are really beginning to look interesting themselves. This is getting exciting!

I wasn’t planning on snacking, and I won’t be chewing tonight, but I couldn’t resist a taste of each.

Zam x Pan is now a month into the cure and DDA 9 is one week behind. I’ll let you know how the evening goes. :battingeyelashes::green_heart:

In a Marble Orchard, of course. Chet Atkins or Jerry Reed would fit the bill, their locations are clearly marked and they ain't going anywhere anytime soon. ;)

I guess he is East Bound and DOWN :rip: ;)

Two years ago I had Jerry's Breakdown to tempo. Couple of days ago I posted in a music thread here with a link to the vid. Picked up the guitar and tied my fingers in knots before I got to the second lick. Took a bit to remember it, but I have it to about 3/4 tempo today. Couple more days and it'll be back. Then I have to do the same for Chet's part, but that'll have to wait. Lost too much time to this as it stands. This was the first finger-picking song I decided to learn.

I'm out, just figured out to stop the alerts. I've done too much damage to a good thread. Maybe a mod can do a clean-up on aisle Q?

No damage done my friend. Glad to have you among us. :hugs:
