Tales From The Krip!

TUT #1 EARLY SMOKE REPORT

Both Tuts have a nice floral smell with, as near as I can place it, a hint of bay leaves. After the quick-dry, however, that pretty much turned to a chlorophyll/hay smell even when the bud was broken up. I'm sure with a decent cure, it will be fine, but really not much else to report, yet, on taste or flavor.

After the first hit, I waited about five minutes. It took a few minutes to feel a slow "creeper" rush that, honestly, wasn't that impressive. So, I took two more bong hits and, while it was a nice head rush, it really didn't get me very high and I was pretty disappointed.

I immediately got up and jumped in the car to run an errand thinking Tut #1 was gonna get replaced. As I was just pulling out of my neighborhood, I started to get kind of a "stoney tunnel vision" thing going on. I looked in the rear view mirror and saw a huge grin on my face and thought, "Sh1t, I'm stoned!". o_O

Being more of an "Indica Guy" I personally prefer the couch-lock strains but with the 60% sativa in this Tut, it does make for a very nice daytime/social smoke. I'll have to see how it cures, what the RSO is like, and how much relief it gives my dad before deciding on whether to keep it, but if it was only for me, I'd probably replace it with a strong Indica.

Of course, it's still early and all that may change in another week or two!

One thing I forgot to mention... Even though the bud was quick-dried and uncured, and I obviously didn't wash it, it was still an incredibly smooth smoke, which was actually the first thing I noticed. Usually those test buds are pretty harsh, but I've had much harsher fully cured buds.

UPDATE

First, apologies for some lack of responses, acknowledgements & journal visits this week but have been slammed with work, getting over a cold, and just haven't had much time to "play". I'll be getting caught up this weekend. ;)

Today is day #56 of 12/12 in the flower tent. The plants are looking great and the smells are awesome! :yummy:

The two Tuts will be coming down next weekend and, most likely, the other three plants the following weekend. I'm stocked up on paper lunch bags, turkey bags, a couple of food-grade 5-gallon buckets, and the new drying tent still sitting in the box. I even have a brand new 50 gallon trash can waiting to recycle the soil for a second run. The next round will happen in another batch of 1st run soil I've had cooking for a couple of months, now, so I didn't have to wait on this round to finish before cooking up another batch.

I've been dreading the upcoming trim job so I just "splurged" and treated myself to one of those 16" bowl trimmers that should be here next week. I went with the iPower, which had some great reviews and should save a good amount of time on the smaller buds.

The temporary veg area is working out pretty well and I'll get some pics of that up tomorrow. I've had to do a lot of LST to keep the plants short and some creative rigging to get the lights as high as possible so they don't outgrow that shelf, but it should be manageable for the next couple of weeks. I do think I'm going to add that other Forbidos as another 5th plant this round and just put it in the center in the same SIP that the Blackwater is currently in.

I did great this round with filling up the horizontal space, but would have liked another foot, or more, in vertical growth and am going to try to get this next round a little taller.

I still need to give some thought to what to run after this next round. I'll likely try another couple of the IHG strains but, hoping to see something "stellar" enough in these first two rounds that I want to re-run it. I'm really loving the fruity smells on the Fruit Punch and the Blackwater, so, if they turn out as good as they smell, I'd like to re-run those.

I've also been contemplating doing a round with four or five Dark Devil Autos at some point but just not sure when I'll be able to squeeze that in. If I can get a better veg area setup, I may be able to run the autos in the veg area while I have photos flowering in the flower tent.

I'll get some pics up over the weekend!

Happy Harvests!

I have the same bowl trimmer... I do about 12-15 rotations in each direction (25-30 total.) You will still need to pluck off some sugars after but very few.. I only really pretake off the fans. Nuggets need less spins but fluffy stuff can take a little beating in them. Nothing I worry too much about. I have hand trimmed plants since I got it and it makes me realize it does save time.

Seems like you have plenty going on so you will appreciate the time saving.. Well for me i did.

Peace

Thanks, Brother, I appreciate the input from a user!

All of my meds are for personal use and making meds for my dad, so I'm not really worried about a nice-looking trim and, normally, I would just leave the sugar leaves on, so I have a hunch it will be fine. The fluffy buds usually just get used for oil, and I'm hoping, with the trimmer, I'll end up keeping some buds I normally would have just thrown in the oil pile because I would not have otherwise wanted to waste the extra time trimming them at all. :D

Dark devil autos are not very stoney, lot of work to get yield, very disappointing. All autos are weak smoke, in my opinion. Lots of great phenos out there. Safire og, is my next, gelato too, both potent and high yielding. But growing is its own joy,

Cheers

Hey Krip, if you want a truly stellar indica to run, look at ACE's Bubba Hash. Everyone thinks I only like sativas but that's not true, I love them all. I just like growing sativas better than indicas. That Bubba is the best indica I've run to date and the only one that I considered good enough to keep. The In House stuff is excellent too but those new strains all kinda run together for me, they're strong for sure but the buzzes don't stand out from one another. The Bubba has some of the best flavor and the high ranges from very comfortable in low doses to intense body disconnect and disorientation in high doses. It is also my go to for mixing with sativas. Actually I mix everything with Bubba at some point. I get some incredible highs doing that.

That's good info - thanks! I agree on the autos, in general. Don't like 'em & don't grow 'em. But, those DDA buds are just so beautiful, I've got to give them a shot at some point! ;)

Hi Mr. Krip
No worries, we know life gets in the way sometimes :hugs:
Glad you found a good tool for trimming. .
Maybe show us with pics how it works later?

If a picture says 1,000 words, then a video must be something like 1,000 pictures? ;)

Thanks, Brother! Ace just shipped my order and I think it's gonna be a while before placing another, but I'll keep that BBH in mind. It's sounds like a keeper! :thumb:

Can I ask what you paid for it Krips? I see it on the jungle store here in Canada but want to make sure I am not getting ripped off. I love it man.

It was $119 USD and I'm pretty sure it will save me much more than that in trim time! ;)

TUT #1 - SAMPLE #2

I took a second sample from Tut #1 this morning to start drying. This time, I took an entire smaller/lower side branch because I wanted to scope & test the top buds which are much more developed than the lower ones.

Here's the top bud from the branch I took:

Under the scope, it's about 80% cloudy, 15% clear and 5% amber.

She's very close to chop-chop!

Happy Harvests!

TEMPORARY VEG SPACE

Here are a couple of pics of the temporary veg area I setup in the master bathroom. Just a cheap wire rack I had on-hand with the middle shelf removed and the light fixed to the top. The empty foil roll on top is lifting the light up about another inch:

It's not, by any means, ideal, but it should work for the next two weeks.

Happy Harvests!
