Tales From The Krip!

DAY #50 OF 12/12 - UPDATE & PIC DUMP

So, we're now on day #50 of 12/12 with approximately two weeks to go until I start harvesting. The girls are now starting to pack on some real weight and it will be fun to see how fat they get between now & harvest.

NOTE TO NEWBIES: Don't harvest too early! It's one of the biggest mistakes new growers make. The plants can put on as much as 30% of their weight in the last couple of weeks of flowering!

Here's a quick look inside the tent:

The rest are some fat & frosty nugs I can't wait to start sampling! :yummy:

This is most certainly going to be some of the highest quality meds I've grown, to date, and do have to attribute that to Doc's kit. Genetics are always most important, but I've had plenty of good genetics that just didn't produce like this in hydro.

Don't get me wrong, I still have a warm place in my heart for hydro, especially the speedy growth rates in veg. I've just never seen quality like this using hydro; plus, the kit is a much simpler and less expensive method. :thumb:

Now, I'm really looking forward to the IHG genetics in the kit soil! :yahoo:

Happy Harvests!

Fan-foo-goo-tastic! :yummy: Can't wait to see what you can do with the IHG beans! I know I'm growing the best kit plants to date currently, both in house! :high-five:

The kit is the best hands down IMO. Even strains that I think are just meh, people who have never had high brix weed smoke it and think it's some of the best they've ever had. Everything grown in the kit comes out top notch but some are just incredibly special. I think I've run 4 In House strains now and they have all been memorable. They sure are confidence boosters. The health and level of frost that comes from In House is really quite remarkable given the shear number of strains they put out. My only bitch with them is it's really hard to tell what the genetics are in a lot of their strains. I kinda wish they would categorize them for me :p. I want to know if the plant is Kush, OG or whatever and with names like Slurricane and such it makes it hard for me to avoid the cookie strains.

Agreed!

IHG Bitch #2: Price!

WE'RE GETTING CLOSE!

Tut #1 looks like it will be the keeper of the two tuts. The colas are a little smaller, but only because there are about three times as many as on Tut #2. But, Tut #1 is as frosty as a snowman (sorry, I couldn't think of any good metaphors!) and looks like it will be the first of the five plants to finish, which is a good thing because she's a monster to have to work around! :D

In preparation for the next round, I up-potted four of the vegging plants from the 4" containers to #1's and rigged up a temporary veg "shelf" in the bathroom to let them get a little bigger for the next couple of weeks until I can clear out the tent.

I had planned on two Forbidos, one Dolato, and a Blue Gelato-41 but, when I was selecting the plants, I went with two Dolatos and one Forbidos.

This is because I recently had to trim the other plants pretty short to give some headroom in the veg cabinet and figured I'd take clones of all of them and put the new clones in flower for next round. But, then I decided I didn't want to wait the extra veg time on the clones and the other Forbidos was looking too "spindly" after the trim to flower her now.

This is also the reason I set up the temporary veg area and the reason I've spent so much of this post explaining it!

One thing is clear to me and that is that I need a larger veg area, which has really always been the plan along with relegating the existing veg cab to breeding.

I'm going to try to get that setup after this harvest. It should cut 30-60 days out from between harvests and enable me to start playing with creating some seeds.

Here's a quick pic from this morning (just to hold everyone over!) of one of the larger Tut #1 colas:

I get better pics at night so I'll post more as soon as I get a chance to take more!

Happy Harvests!

MrK plants are looking GREAT. Getting close is exciting. Planning trim party week at MrK's - gonna be epic.

The Tut looks like a frosty yield monster.

My Dolato looks decent this time around. She looked good the first time around too.

I have some other plants that are at least as good as her going on, with the Slurricane and Peanut Butter Breath both being Do-si-do crosses.

I started 3 East Coast Punch seeds (East Coast Sour Diesel/Purple Punch) and lost one so I still have 2 of those going on. So I already replaced her.

I started out with 2 Dolato S1 seeds i got in a trade.
!

Cookies... must have cookies. I ran Dolato/Buffalato in the spring, lasted 15 minutes and I had a shit ton. Never took a cut. Not one. Do I miss it. Yes. That weed was narcotic great for pain and good nights sleep too. Friends were all over it. I like a good up beat feeling but that Dolato and the Buffalato were good.

Running Slurricane right now, coming down the stretch and have Jellium and Platinum Buffalo on deck and 91 Star (Chemdawg).

Yeti love your gear choices, you running a journal??

If I was willing to add that and ditch my trimmer I bet I could add a fair amount to it.

Peace

FE

What's this trimmer you speak of?? Sounds interesting....

Good for you MrK, you're doing great. Genetics are key. You can only bring out the best of what you start with.

Glad you're digging soil and doing great with Doc's kit. Good job buddy. Bulking and frosting... looks awesome.

TUT #1 SAMPLE BUD

I was noticing that Tut #1 looks like it will be the first to finish and may only have about a week left where I'd give the others two weeks. And, since I was just recommending another grower start taking samples, I figured I'd take some of my own advice and clip a sample of the Tut.

This is the lowest bud from one of the small, outside sub-branches:

Under the scope, it was mostly milky trich's with some clear and no signs, yet, of amber, so it will get some more time. The buds are sticky as hell and still have that floral smell but I'll get a better description once the quick-dry is done and I break it up and get an early test on the potency.

Happy Harvests!

The Buffalato sounds very nice! So does the Platinum Buffalo. IHG sure does put out some fine crosses!

I am not running a journal yet. Thinking about starting one soon. Things are slowing down a bit now so it should be doable. I tried to read yours at one point but my place got lost when my comp did an automatic restart. My sub list has kept me very busy and I have yet to be back. You are a wealth of knowledge so I should make it a priority soon!

TUT #2 TEST BUD AFTER QUICK DRY & TRIM

Here's a Tut #2 sample bud after a quick dry & trim. I'm gonna test it out now and then give the initial report on the Tut #1 tester:

Happy Harvests!

TUT #1 EARLY SMOKE REPORT

Both Tuts have a nice floral smell with, as near as I can place it, a hint of bay leaves. After the quick-dry, however, that pretty much turned to a chlorophyll/hay smell even when the bud was broken up. I'm sure with a decent cure, it will be fine, but really not much else to report, yet, on taste or flavor.

After the first hit, I waited about five minutes. It took a few minutes to feel a slow "creeper" rush that, honestly, wasn't that impressive. So, I took two more bong hits and, while it was a nice head rush, it really didn't get me very high and I was pretty disappointed.

I immediately got up and jumped in the car to run an errand thinking Tut #1 was gonna get replaced. As I was just pulling out of my neighborhood, I started to get kind of a "stoney tunnel vision" thing going on. I looked in the rear view mirror and saw a huge grin on my face and thought, "Sh1t, I'm stoned!". o_O

Being more of an "Indica Guy" I personally prefer the couch-lock strains but with the 60% sativa in this Tut, it does make for a very nice daytime/social smoke. I'll have to see how it cures, what the RSO is like, and how much relief it gives my dad before deciding on whether to keep it, but if it was only for me, I'd probably replace it with a strong Indica.

Of course, it's still early and all that may change in another week or two!
