Tales From The Krip!

DRASTIC TIMES CALL FOR DRASTIC MEASURES!

I'm running out of time with the Blue OG....:oops:....I mean SOUR OG! :)

I really need to get her finished in the next week, so, while I am NOT a fan of diminishing light during flower, starting tonight, that's EXACTLY what I'm going to do!

I've seen a lot of growers use diminishing light and, while I won't knock any technique that anyone is happy with, IMHO, while it will help ripen faster since the plant senses winter coming, there's a sacrifice in yield from not having as much light on the buds.

Never before was I willing to make that sacrifice but, since I need to get moving (literally!) soon, I don't have much of a choice.

I'd rather harvest her at her peak with a little less yield, than have to harvest a bunch of unfinished buds, and she's close, but just not there yet.

So, starting tonight, I'm going to reduce her light schedule by 20 min's per day and start flushing on Thursday. By Friday she'll be on a 10/14 light schedule and, hopefully, I can harvest next Sunday/Monday.

It may come in a little lighter than it would if I had the luxury of waiting, but right now, I just want/need her to finish! :bitingnails:
 
Less but mature would be far better for sure.
 
I took a small sample bud today:

Still a lot of clear trich's and white pistils, but taste pretty good (for quick-dry!) and got a nice head buzz:

QUICK PIC UPDATE

It's now day 65 of 12/12 (I think I counted a few days off earlier - from June 1 instead of the first Saturday in June which was the 4th) and have been lowering the light schedule over the last few days so tonight she'll be on 11/13.

She's still packing on weight:

Drive by. Hey, I hear if you up the UVB light in the last week, it's supposed to help pack on some weight, and extra trichomes. Now it might be enough to make any difference. From what I've read/heard sounds like your doing about all you can to rush it along. Big difference being that sour in the mix. That's one strain I haven't grown alot of, the diesel, due to that extra few weeks of flower. Hey still looks like product to me. My Old Lady likes them atad early. Me I like SOS, stuck on stupid.
I might not do alot of reading, but I do like the pic's. I always like to looks of them waterfarms. One day I'm going to fire mine up, it's got afew inches of dust on them. I opted for the ecogrow ones. Alittle bigger units. Anyways it goes looks like your going to have some smoke anyways. Wood've been a bummer if she was acouple weeks younger,

Yeah, good eye! I forgot to mention that this girl is foxtailing like crazy, on virtually every bud! Good for the weight, no so good for the finishing! :)

Thanks for swinging by, Bro! I've been impressed with those WF's from day #1 and they can certainly grow some good sized plants (a larger tent would help! :rofl:).

I don't really have a way to add/up the UBV, but I do have another trick up my sleeve to rush them to finishing....standby for upcoming post! :winkyface:
 
Wow. Great lineup. Those will keep you busy for a while. Awesome looking flowers as well just do not rush drying. After 65+ days it would be a shame not to take your time (I'm sure you won't). Enjoy the fruits of your labor my friend.

DRASTIC MEASURES - PHASE #2

In my efforts to get the Sour OG finished in the next week, I'm implementing Phase #2 and pulling out the big guns! :)

I've been reducing the light schedule by 20 minutes each day for the last several days to signal the coming of winter...

Next step...bringing winter to my grow tent in the tropics!

Even night-time temps here are well into the 70's so in-taking air from the outside won't help, and, I'm not going to turn my AC down to 55* at night; BUT, I did just throw four water bottles into the freezer. :winkyface:

Just before lights out for the next several days, I'll put two of the frozen water bottles in the res to bring down the temps of the water.

Hopefully, this night-time cool-down, combined with the diminishing light, will signal to this girl that it's time to finish up since, as of now, I have NO Phase #3! :rofl:
 
It just occurred to me! :idea:

I need to give my baby her bottle before bedtime; and I don't care if she's wet, she's not getting changed!:rofl:
