Tales From The Krip!

Hi Krip, that was the coolest veg cab I've seen. It even had a little baby carbon filter. RIP cool cabinet!

Plants are all looking fantastic! That little tote veg is working great. It looks like the sun has no problems getting through the burlap. What are the temps and humidity over there?

I must say Mr.Krip, you guys are leaps and bounds above me, those are some beautiful plants. I have only 6 plants that are flowering rite now and to me they look great. These are my first season of growing and I have alot to learn..Bamaman

They look so good.

I am new to all this...remember that when I give my limited advice

Krip I sympathize man. That was a sweet cabinet for sure. But your current plant is doing great and you will be able to get back on it in a few weeks. When you get back why not just make a quick pandafilm enclosure inside the closet? Although that little cabinet would be pretty sweet. You could also follow lexort's example and convert a nice Rubbermaid tub. Very stealthy as everyone has a few of those for old clothes, tools etc.

Love the giant plant! I like sideways buds like that and some of the pics you showed have really nice resin rails on the sugar leaves.

Looking great mate well done;)

Always good info and great plants :)

Subb....Everything looks so delicious!

Thanks, everyone, for the good words and encouragement! :thanks:

The sun does make it through the burlap fine. Today, temps were between 80*-85*F and humidity was a whopping 70%. I had to top one of the clones that was already hitting the burlap earlier today. :MoreNutes:

I was just checking again on the Blue OG. I'm extremely anxious for her to finish so I can deal with the home issues, but she seems to be taking her own sweet time. I had really hoped that, by Sunday, I'd be flushing, but it just isn't going to happen.

About 20%-30% of the pistils have turned amber and the trichomes (under 60x magnification) show about 50/50 cloudy/clear with a few straggling ambers that can basically be ignored.

The buds are extremely dense - some of the densest I've grown, although a little on the leafy side (you can see in the previous pics), and should still be putting on some weight. The diesel smell is really developing nicely! :yummy:

A week or two ago, I had estimated (although, I didn't post the estimate) something like 2-3 oz, but just looking at her, I think it's got to be more like 3-4 oz. and MAY even break 4.

A lot will be dependent on how quick she finishes, since I'm going to have to chop her in the next 10 days, or so.

I hope she finishes soon! :bitingnails:

Pulling up a chair in the back row sir. Nice job!:thumb:

Hey Krip,

Check out the secret Jardine 2 chamber tents. I think they call them lodges? The have one that's 4x2. I believe the grow area is 2x4.

Thanks, Brother! :thankyou:

I've actually seen them and they're very nice tents. If I had the space, I'd definitely get one, but the only ones I have space for put me back in a 5' tent. The two models they have that are 7' both have too big of a footprint.

It's also important for me to maintain as much stealth as possible. I like the fact that practically no one knows I grow. I've had workmen, friends, family, etc. all within a few feet of my grow and they never knew! :)

If I didn't need to worry about stealth, I'd just move the current 5' flower tent into the same closet as the old veg cabinet and use it for veg, and then just replace the flower tent.

I definitely need a taller tent for flower but I'm still debating on whether to try to go with another 2'x4' or try to squeeze a 4'x4' in. :hmmmm:

Being able to only squeeze that one plant in the current flower tent, even if she is a decent size, is pretty frustrating. If she had the vertical room and I didn't need to spread her out like she is, I'd be able to at least get a second plant in there. Of course, if I hadn't vegged her so long, she'd have plenty of vertical room, too! :tokin:

I like how you step up and take responsibility there at the end K. :laughtwo: Why, pray tell, did you veg her so long?

I feel the frustration of being tent restricted. I have a 4x4 packed up and a 3x3 that's never been out of the box. Ahhh..... the dreams.

Yup, as the "grower" I take full responsibility! It's my first time growing this strain and I greatly underestimated the stretch. However, I definitely stepped up with the LST! I should try to get some pics of the branch weaving I've done to maintain the canopy, which was not only bending some of the taller colas down, but also pulling some of the smaller, lower branches up. ;)

Don't even get me going on space since no one wants to hear a grown man whine and I know ALL growers want more space, but somehow I always feel I'm only one small step up from a PC case grow!

I've actually been "window shopping" for some land in California or Oregon but mostly fantasizing and won't be moving anytime soon. With my parents getting older, I like being close enough to help out, if needed; and it's been needed more and more as of late.

My recent setup has served me very well for the last six years, or so, just growing for my own (admittedly heavy! :lot-o-toke:) recreational use. Now that I'm also growing for my Dad's medical use, including making RSO, I think I'm going to need to expand a little. :)

Yeah, I'm trying to strike that balance myself. Right now it's just myself and my daughter, but growing for her threw me into CBD strains and now I'm falling behind on my own sativas, which keep me as close to normal as we can hope. :laughtwo: I'm still feeling unbalanced. After this run I should have enough CBD material on hand to concentrate on getting my own stocks built up. My needs are pretty heavy too.

Starting to yawn. A sure sign it's time to call it a day. I left a final post waiting on my own journal, so let me get over there before I nod off.

Goodnight K. :hugs:

I'M GROWING THE WRONG STRAIN!

Well, there's nothing like getting almost through an entire grow before finding out you're not growing what you thought you were!

My buddy who gave me the "Blue OG" seed was by today (with some pretty awesome Orange Crush!) and I was commenting on being surprised that the Blue OG had such a diesel smell.

He says, "Geez! Did I tell you that was a Blue OG? Naaaaaaaw....that's a Sour OG! :thedoubletake:

Well, that would certainly explain the citrus diesel smell I've been commenting on, and, with 50% Sativa, it also explains my underestimation of the stretch in flower.

So, when you all hear me now referring to the Sour OG, it's not because I have another strain going!

Stoners! I don't know how anyone deals with us!

I went from 4x4 to 3.3x3.3, gets hot fast, hard to cool, to small. Much less air volume, I have no idea how you get anything smaller to work.

Actually, you know better than anyone! :)

It's all about low watts and adequate ventilation. Small space requires small lights and small lights require small cooling. ;)

I'm running something like 400 actual watts of LED's (would only be about 300 but I'm currently using a 2nd LED for bottom lighting!) and have a 6" (something like 500 CFM) fan venting heat out about as quickly as I can produce it in the 2'x4'x5' tent with passive intake coming from a 72*-75*F room.
