Tales From The Krip!

WHERE ARE ALL THE WOMEN?

still waiting on the two Zephyrys but #2 is looking female and should know for sure in the next day or two.

Well, so much for HIGH hopes!

Here's that Zephyrus I thought was gonna be female:

That's four of the last five seeds that have turned out to be male! :thedoubletake:

I've got one last Zephyrus that still hasn't shown and more males than I was bargaining for so I'll need to figure out what I do with all of those.

Happy Harvests!

Looking awesome so far!
She’ll be covered in resin by the time you done.

Very nice Krip! :high-five:
Lookin top notch Krip....:high-five:
Very speccy! :yummy:
Looking on point. This growing thing is easy with the kit and awesome genetics. It looks like more superstars in your garden.
:bravo:

Thanks, everyone! :thanks:

Did you use the volcano method for sexing seeds before you planted? I have used it in the past and have had decent luck. I had a few reg seed strains that I only started one seed of and ended up with a female using the method. I did have the luck I told you about with about a 50% female rate overall, I just figured I would mention that when planting one seed only of regs I have had decent success with the volcano method.

Nope! I just picked two random seeds from each pack figuring I'd get about 50% males. I was hoping for some males for the breeding, I just figured something like half would be female and it didn't work out that way. So, next five seeds should be all females to average everything out!

When in doubt,, plant three.......... JK Kind of.....

Seems when I germinate seeds at a warmer temp,, my cable box is up to 86 degrees, I use plastic wrap over a paper towel on a china plate,, I get more females?? Over the years,, well take the last 10,, I know I've gotten over 50%???????? BUT I've never planted a seed till she has a good piece of tap root?

All will be as should........ IF you can't find a male,, that strain wasn't meant? The good thing is always a do-over??

Hey Krip! What ever happened to that conjoined twin?

I planted 12 bag seeds, OG Kush, with the intention of finding a place to put them outside. Now, I might have a spot to grow 4 or 6 inside so my question is, should I bother with these bag seeds or plant something I know or am pretty sure will be good? I know I'll probably get some males and I think the space is big enough to grow them all until I can see the sex. I still may just toss them in the woods somewhere and see what happens....?

The conjoined twin is doing fine in the veg tent until I figure out if/when I can get to him/her. I didn't sex it on this round since I'm not using it for breeding but, at some point, will; and, if female, I grow her out.

As for those bag seeds....

It depends on what you're looking to do. If you plant 4-6 of them, you'll likely end up having to cull 2-4, or so. If what remains after culling is enough for you, it's fine. If you want to harvest 4-6 plants, I'd go with FEM's. You can plant them out in the woods, but if you don't cull the males, the females are at risk of getting pollinated.

BTW...I was reading in Doc's thread about your Blueberry. In a #10 container, the rootball should be more than large enough to sustain the plant without the roots that have made it into the soil under the container.

Best bet is to just move to a shady place for a week before putting back in direct sun. I know someone suggested you also prune, which can help if there's a problem with the roots being able to sustain the plant, but you'll sacrifice this years harvest and I don't think it will be needed. :Namaste:

Thanks you guys! I still have 3-4 weeks before I have to be out of my house and then another 2-3 weeks before I would put the plants outside so maybe I'll have some pre flowers by then....?

I may just pop 4 fems to grow inside.....?

Thanks on the blueberries Krip! Doc said I could feed cat drench once a month but that would be a lot as I have 6 so am thinking of getting them some food from the nursery. Any suggestions?

Yes, 2-3 weeks should be enough time to see sex. Just like with females, they'll usually show within a week or two of flip.

I do my fruits & veggies organic so don't really have a recommended "full spectrum" fertilizer. My mix is basically 1/3 peat moss, 1/3 compost, and 1/3 of a 50/50 perlite vermiculite mix, then, I add some Azomite & EWC. The rest is just compost teas, occasional Alaska Fish Fertilizer, and maybe once per year top-dress with some compost, Azomite & EWC.

That being said, I do have to confess that since switching to the kit, I've been using up all those Advance Nutrient hydro nutes on the fruits & veggies, so, I guess, I'm no longer officially organic!

CLONING THE CHRISTMAS BUD

Since the 79XB is such a slow grower (and, tends to stay pretty short, BTW), I wanted to get clones started now so they'd be mature enough to breed in 60 days, or so. So, I took one clone each of XB #1, XB #2 & XB #4. Both #1 and #2 are females being flowered out now in the breeding cabinet, #1 is the pheno with the mottled & spikey leaves, and #4 is the male that will be used to pollinate just about everything else I have right now that's female, including the better of the two female XB's to increase the supply of Christmas Bud seeds (I do have 6 more from the original pack).

Happy Harvests!

S1’s will be made on my next run. I just used 2 females and 2 males for a directional preservation. I wanted to get rid of the mutants if possible.
Oh! I figured you reversed a female when you said:

Males were culled as soon as they showed

FYI, that "mutant" pheno (XB #1) grew out of that odd looking stage she was at when a seedling and really looks normal, at least compared to the other XB's. I'll post some pics of her in a few minutes and you won't notice a difference. Plus, Brother Icemud had said that pheno he had that resembled XB #1 also grew out of it and turned into the one that most resembled what he remembered as Christmas Bud.

But, that's why I'm flowering out both XB females now (#1 and #2 ) as bonsais/testers. Whichever one turns out to be best is the one I'll end up using for the breeding.
