Tales From The Krip!

UPDATE ON BREEDING PLANS

So, I've been struggling a little bit to get my head back around the plans for the breeding program. It really threw things off when those Pine Tar Kush plants weren't ready a few weeks ago and I decided to pop all those other seeds and THEN agreed to do the sponsored grow and popped another six seeds.

While it has me overloaded with plants for some period of time, it also gave me some time to re-evaluate and get back on my original track.

I need to focus on the "Bonsai Sultan Method" which involves flowering only ONE male per cycle and using that male to pollinate all the females. In that small breeding cabinet, with multiple males, I'd never know what was pollinated by what, and even just flowering multiple males with no females, there would likely be cross contamination of the pollen, if I tried to collect pollen.

So, I really need to get all of these plants sexed first, figure out how many & which are males, then start figuring out how I want to schedule the cycles. That, of course, means that, even though I'm over-run with plants, I basically need to clone everything and sex them.

With that in mind, the PTK's were finally ready to clone and I did take cuts from PTK's #1, #2 & #4. PTK #3 was the conjoined twin and will need to be sexed at some point but won't be used for the breeding.

The other plants that were started from reg seeds giving the possibility of males are: (2) Trainwreck, (2) Apricot Jelly, (1) Black Cherry Jelly, & (2) Zephyrus. So, that's another seven plants that will need to be cloned & sexed, but they won't be ready to clone for another week or two.

Any that turn out to be females can still be crossed with whatever male is being run for that cycle, but I do want to make sure I limit it to one male per run.

The good news is that, with the current run of Platinum Kush Breath, and the sponsored grow starting right behind it, it will probably be 12 weeks, or more, until I can risk having pollen flying around, so that should be plenty of time to get everything cloned and sexed, and get a new set of clones (if needed) ready for the first breeding run.

I'm still unsure if I'm going to flower out all the female clones first or just pollinate everything and flower them out later to see what I've got? :hmmmm:

Happy Harvests!

Be careful with the males. Some will autoflower when root bound. So keeping things in small containers is good and all but I would be careful because that is the risk you run. One good thing though is any males that start to auto flower when root bound are ones that breeders will not breed with and should get cut and tossed anyways.

BLUE GELATO 41 YIELD

The Blue Gelato 41 yielded 89 g's, or just over 3 oz. I knew she was gonna be a lower yielder, but was really hoping for closer to 4 oz. off of her.

The yields on the Forbidos & Dolatos should make up for it, since they look to be a little more than I estimated but the Dolato is still way too moist to jar.

I'll get final weights on the Forbidos in the next day or two.

Quality is much better than quantity and looks like some high quality produce brother!

So when's this new journal start!?!?

Thanks, Brother! I agree 420% and I'll take quality over quantity any time! I was giving the "prime" space & light to the IHG strains, so the BG-41 just didn't keep up. As for the new journal, it's just been taking longer to dot those i's and cross those t's than anticipated and just waiting for things to be finalized. That being said, I do have the grow going, so, if it doesn't get resolved in the next couple of days, I'll just start posting some pics here without the light.

I'm just happy to finally be starting to get the last round out of the refrigerator! It's been almost three weeks and I need food!

Great job, keep it up. Starting to become a full time job it looks like.

Cheers

QUICK UPDATE

Here's what's going on....

In the Breeding Cabinet:

In the Veg Tent:

In the 2' x4' we have the two Platinum Kush Breath that will be flipped within a week:

And, because Brother Ween can't wait for the new journal, in the main tent Bubba Hash are on left and in center and Orient Express are on right:

PRE-HARVEST UPDATE

I received the new 4" carbon filter today, a day earlier than expected, and setup the ventilation in the drying tent. The way I have everything rigged, it should be able to be put up in about 20-25 minutes and taken back down and packed back up in about 15-20 minutes. Storage of everything is really the biggest PITA but, then again, if I had a lot more room to be able to store it, I'd probably just leave it up and not store it, at all!

I'm pretty tempted to start harvesting tomorrow and, the way I change plans, it's always possible. But, I have some appointments scheduled for tomorrow morning and I do like to harvest early, so I'll probably wait until Wednesday and get up at "0-dark-thirty" to see if I can get 2-3 of the plants washed & hung by 8:00am, or so, and then the rest just after noon time.

It will be interesting to see how the yield numbers on this round turn out. Towards the beginning of the grow, I was pretty confident this round would beat the last round, especially since I let the colas get taller.

But, I don't think the colas, this round, are anywhere near as bulky as the last round. I had several buds from last round that were between 1/4 - 1/2 oz. each. I just don't see that on any of the plants this round, but maybe the additional height will make up for it? :hmmmm:

Either way, I'm always more concerned with the quality than in squeaking an extra ounce or two of yield. I should have more than enough to get me through to the next harvest; and the quality certainly appears to be there! :yummy:

Happy Harvests!

Yea it does seem to be slightly better then some typical Mexi poo brick dont it lmao. Jus kidding those look amazing brother congrats. I'm curious to see what u get for a dry weight lol.

QUICK DOLATO UPDATE

Today marks three weeks since the Dolatos were harvested and they still need another 2-3 days in the fridge before ready to jar. One of the reasons they've taken so long is that, rather than having the buds broken into individual lunch bags, I basically had them all in one, then later two, large paper shopping bags.

The Dolato is the only one of the three that, at least so far, has maintained its chocolate smell, and it smells great! :yummy:

Here are a couple quick bud shots:

I'll get more pics up once they've dried a little more.

The Forbidos should be ready for some final weights in the next day or two and the buds look awesome and are some great meds. I think it might be a keeper, at least for a while, even if it doesn't help my dad with his pain!

Happy Harvests!

Ok...ya know we wanna hear what Mr. Kripperman would say about that bowl of buds.....:surf:

The smell reminds me of the best cup of hot cocoa I've ever had in my life...

It was back in 1979 and I was mountain climbing in the Swiss alps. The wind chill was at -50* F and I had lost my food pack three days earlier when I had fallen down a 120' crevice. I was at an altitude of 27,000', frozen to the core, and miles away from any civilization when I came across this monastery at the top of a mountain. The monks there took me in and gave me a large mug of hot cocoa made from chocolate they made themselves right there at the monastery that was warmed with fresh goats milk that was milked by a group of 19 year-old virgins in white robes.

I lost six toes and my left thumb to frostbite on that trip, but it was worth it for that cup of cocoa! :yummy:

This is how to describe our produce....

Excellent! :laughtwo: :bravo:

19 year old EX-Virgins wood've kept ya warmer...........

But hey that was cool.......... Cool up in the mountains...............

FORBIDOS YIELD

The two Forbidos plants yielded a total of 251 g's or 8.96 oz., averaging close to 4.5 oz. per plant.

We'll see how the Dolatos weigh out and I am expecting more than the Forbidos, but think I'm gonna end up right around 22-23 oz. total yield, or about 2-3 oz's LESS than last round.

Not really disappointed....well...maybe just a little....But it was three different strains, first time growing each, and none had real huge colas.

It will be more than enough to get to the next harvest and they all appear to be very high quality meds, although, I am happy I culled the BG-41 mom. I've already got several strains I like better (Blackwater, Tut, Forbidos & Dolato!) and several "in the wings" I haven't even grown out yet that I'm sure will outperform her.

Dolatos will be coming out of the fridge in the next couple of days, but I'm a week, or more, from getting dry weights and will update with the total when I do.

Happy Harvests!
