Tales From The Krip!

Garden is looking tits there Mister Krip..

But you know I think the man is onto your grow over here Mister Krip.. I've sure seen alot of they kind of official, staff looking type hanging around..

So a new title I see?????.... that means I gotta watch my P's and Q's... Naw

Thank you, Brother! No need to watch anything around me! I was telling another "Grow Bro" that they don't want me as a mod cuz' they know I'd ban everyone, including the other mod's, just to have this whole place to myself! :yahoo:

RSO ALMOST DONE!

I made a nice batch of extract last night from about half of the trim from last round, and re-filtered & distilled it earlier today. It's almost done with the decarbing (I didn't decarb first this time) and should be ready soon.

I'm guessing it's something like 15-20 g's just from half of that trim. I didn't weigh the exact amount of trim, but there was 6.75 oz. total and I just packed a half gallon mason jar pretty much to the brim, which used about half of what I started with.

I'll have the exact yield, along with a sample report, shortly! :slide:

Happy Harvests!

Thanks, Brother! Yeah, that Mom tent is pretty packed and they're all pretty small clones or Bonsai's. It's only a 2' x 3' tent!

When's the "Big Day"??? Coming up soon? Whatcha' got planned for strains, or don't know yet?

Love it! The big day is April 13! Less than a month now!

Strains I’ve got a few ideas lined up but not sure on the rest! Going to be dropping some kush seeds (3 chemovars) then some other seeds from Barney’s!

Blue gelato 41
Strawberry lemonade
And a few other surprises to that I’ll keep a secret haha.

Hope your well

Only got 12 g's of RSO from that last batch, so a little less than I had estimated while it was still in the pan.

This batch has a very slight green tinge (normally, I get a very nice amber color), so it looks like it pulled some chlorophyll which hasn't happened before and I'm not sure if it's because I used 100% trim or, since I've been using a distiller, perhaps the proof of the ethanol has risen to a point where a need to start doing shorter washes? :hmmmm:

Either way, I had two drops of the RSO on two separate bong hits and then passed out for about 8 hours, so I'd say it's pretty potent!

I don't think I'll use this batch for caps for my Dad, since I don't want the additional chlorophyll being in there for his medicine, but it's perfectly fine for smoking, edibles & vape juice. :thumb:

I ain't read alot seeing I'm so far behind on everyone's threads... But you made RSO? Did you do something like the rice cooker and ever clear? I use to do the basic thing for oil when me and Miss J had Cancer. It came back close to axle grease. In color and consistency. Me, I'm the worst person to ever ask IF I felt it. But I did try smearing it on a paper,, kind of like a Oiler Joint...

Hey Krip, in the future if you extract chlorophyll you can set the mixture (mine is in a clear mason jar) out in the sun and it will get rid of the chlorophyll. I don't know exactly what is goin on but it works. I use a distiller as well and I've found if everything is frozen when you extract, you can get max yields with 2, 4 minute washes (no chlorophyll), then back into the freezer for at least 24 hours to let the waxes settle out.

Yeah, I make RSO every 2-3 months to make capsules for my Dad's Parkinson's Disease. They help his tremors. I used to use the double-boiler method with Ethanol, but now I use a Distiller to re-capture the alcohol since that tends to get expensive when you make it as frequently as I do.

I'll have to try that "sun trick" if it happens again. I usually do two washes, one for 9 minutes and the second for 6 minutes. It's longer than recommended BUT all I have/had available was the 151 proof ethanol. The 190 proof isn't sold in this state. So, I did the longer wash times to get a more complete extraction and, with everything frozen, never pulled any chlorophyll before. I think, now that I've run the 151 proof a few times through the distiller, it's probably close to 190 proof and I need to do shorter washes, as you mentioned.

I can't get 190 proof in my state either but I can in Indiana. There is an ex member that lives just over the Indiana border from me and we'll meet up. I bring him clones and samples and he brings me 1/2 gallon jugs of 190 proof everclear, it works out well.
Good deal! :high-five:

You use a distiller, too, if I remember correct, don't you? :hmmmm:

If you can get the 150 proof, it works fine with the longer washes (though, probably some of the trichs get missed) and, as you run it through the distiller, the proof increases! ;)

I do use a distiller. I started with the 150 proof and did 3, 4 minute washes. The last wash was mostly green. I tested the oil and it came back around 63% pure. I retested with the 190 proof with 2, 4 minute washes and it came back 77% pure, which is about as good as it gets doing it at home with this method.
I suppose you could run your 150 proof through the distiller a few times before doing any extractions, that would raise the proof.

Alright guys now you got me interested! Can you recommend a distiller?

:passitleft:

The one I got is an "Air Still" and I only got it because it's supposedly made for alcohol and included instructions on the website for RSO, but I'm pretty sure just about any water distiller will work fine.

Mornin Krip....you said the new light came in ..but ,..but ..where's the unboxing/pics of it. Nothing else was mentioned. Would really like to see it. Cheers eh.

Just waiting for some i's to get dotted and t's to get crossed before I start the Sponsored Grow Journal. Until then, it's top secret! :nerd-with-glasses:
