Taking My Chances With The Devil: Dark Devil Auto & Devil's Crack Auto

Here is a better spread of what exactly I have going on right now, youngest to oldest.
This one looks to still be stretching after 3 weeks+, damn sativas anyway..

The Purple Afghani x BCBD Purps is the stinkiest cultivar I have. Stuff just smells like what rotten fruit skunk vomit must smell like.

I will get those Harlequin seeds planted tonight. They have all sunk and most are already showing the tip of the tap root.

Well that was a fun few rounds of photos. Boring day, doesnt happen very often around these parts.

One last update... 4 out of 5 Harlequin seeds were cracked open when I put them in rockwool this evening. The 5th one looked just about ready to crack so I marked the cube and dropped it in as well.

I first saturated the rockwool cubes with 1/8 tsp of Mega-Crop to 48oz tap water, PhD to 6.0. Put some saran wrap over the tray to hold humidity in my overly dry house. Now she lives in the spacebucket while I eagerly wait for space in the tent to open up.

You know for an emergency grow space a washer, dryer, cookstove box all work really nicely with a little duct tape and ingenuity. A smaller version is a paper towel box from the grocery store.

I'm not suggesting you get a box. Just throwing that out there as general information.

Funny. I had some cfls in a shop vac box lined with mylar a few months ago. My wife is now storing clothes in that box... without the mylar lol. At one point I was going to use a gutted dryer for a stealth cabinet, but got sick of hanging laundry and bought a new dryer instead.

I been smoking on the Punto Rojo x (Mazar x Guerrero). Pretty textbook stuff; sativa dominant, just enough indica to pass out at night. Unfortunately the bud structure leaves something to be desired with a much higher leaf to calyx ratio than I prefer. Total yield including buds I put in a batch of hash was probably around an ounce and a half. Not bad for 11/13 from seed. As always I gave a few nice buds to the neighbor who takes care of some older gals, they said it kicks ass compared to anything the stores... good enough review for me.

Ended up mounting a pc fan on top of my spacebucket for extraction. I used the power supply from an old printer rather than playing with the wiring.

I have been thinking about building another Vero18 fixture, buying a little fan, and emptying out a closet to run autos. Spacebucket is too small and already has several purposes. I will see if the neighbor has some more threshold lying around, surprised at how darn good it sinks the heat.

Only ones left out today were the rockwool cubes and the 3 Purple Afghani x BCBD Purps. Everything is working out well, growth picked up again after adding Mega-Crop back to the feedings .. good stuff.

And a lil eye candy

So how much do you think your bud density will improve when you're all set and done with your new lights?

I had a lot of shade in there. I think I am done with tent lighting for awhile now because I have what appears to be full coverage.

I don't really know how much improvement I will have. Maybe 10-15% denser buds is a realistic goal. I have rotated the plants to where the older ones end up under the 3000k cobs and the youngest stay further under the 4000k QBs. I imagine that I will see more improvement with naturally dense cultivars than I will with the sativas... but who knows?

So... I am not sure about waiting until Friday to chop that fast n frosty gal. Inspection today revealed many signs of full ripeness. She will likely come down tomorrow or Wednesday, depending on what the wife decides. She told me it was done Sunday, but I like to buck the system a bit and 3 days of flush is not good enough for me.

On the table right now to run with the Harlequin project are as follows: Malibu Pie by Ocean grown, TGA Skunk#1 x Locomotion (Zorillo Loco), and Purple Betty ... I have a mittfull of Purple Betty seeds and the other two cultivars are purely to grow for buds unless I get a phenotype worthy of cloning.

That TGA strain is intriguing as it is in breeder (Galactic Gardens) packaging but I can find Zero information online about it. I believe there could be a gem hidden amongst these 4 beans.

Another path might be to grow something out that I want crossed with Harlequin. Maybe I could drop a few Zam Pan and Columbian Gold beans. I need/want to grow them, but unfortunately won't be breeding them this summer. Have decided to do all Punto Rojo crosses over the summer with TTB males.

Chopped two days earlier than planned, but look at those juicy ripe buds

In the fridge for low and slow. This dry/cure method keeps things so simple. Trim, cut buds off stem, place in paper sack, put in "crisper" with vent fully open. I might mess around with the vent position later on when I can afford to have an even slower dry. I have extended my dry times so far from 3-4 days to 7-9 days. Much smoother smoke.

Neighbor dropped off 2 more 12" pieces of aluminum threshold this evening.. I am out of solder for the time being so all LED projects are currently on hold. These chips have a solderless option but connection cords for daisy chaining cost money too, way more than solder.

Next light project may be to put a 2 cob fixture together to test without a fan and if it stays cool enough, give it to my neighbor so he quits hemming and hawing about buying an led light. Maybe give him a couple feminized seeds from my collection to push him over the edge, lol.

No news on the next run yet. The perpetual part of my grow is beginning to interfere with the timing of my sativa breeding project. May have to go ahead and get those long flowering buggers started next. Too many ideas, so little space.. it's getting better though.

I need to make auto seeds soon too. Keeping busy helps me to not worry so much about the current transitions being made in our lives. Growing really helps.

Time to PUBG and puff some herbs.

Took a lot of pics. Mid flower lull. Stuff is happening. Did a bit more supercropping today. Working on that light saturation.

One Harlequin above ground. 3 more are close, may have ended up with one dud.

I will work on a proper ramble to post later..

Not sure what's next. I won't be getting an entire room to myself as since I stopped using home remedies for my daughter's self injurious autistic behaviors she has spiralled to the point where it wouldn't be safe for her to share a room with my son. :(

However the desire to expand has not ceased. Likely tomorrow the Harlequin sprouts will all be up-potted to their final hempy homes. They are already in the big tent due to some problems I was having with the cooling fan on the spacebucket.

Looking at what I need to build a PVC frame for my old 32x32x63 tent. I still have 8 Vero18s left that I believe would easily be able to drive that 7.1sq ft of area. But I am not sure if that's the route I want to go. I need a veg tent, but I need lots of room to flower. I guess I could use the current larger tent for veg + clones + autos and juice the small tent with all 10 veros plus the 1100k cob. Something like 36w/sq ft. Then move the DIY veg panel in the bigger tent from the spacebucket.

Adding grow space not only increases electrical draw from the wall, but also the heat here in summer can be intense even without an active grow. Weighing my options, counting my pennies... I need to smoke.

Always a challenge to organize everything and make it work seamlessly which is nearly impossible. Seems there are always new challenges just when you think you have everything dialed in the way you want it.

Life certainly is it's own challenge beez.

The worst case scenario is, luckily, that I keep on growing how I am which certainly works well enough.

I am currently at the point where my grow provides me with about 80% of my own meds but none for my wife whom requires high doses and therefore hash oil from the store. Rifleman's most recent harvest in dwc was mindblowing to me. About 20oz from 4 autos in less than 100 days under only 350w of cobs. Three harvests that size per year is absolutely the exact amount of cannabis I want to grow. For that I need to make changes. Hell, half of that yield would be an immense improvement and 30oz/year could probably provide both my wife and I 75% of our total meds.

If I want that much, I need a veg period with more light hours vs. the genetic veg period under short light hours. I think this round my yield will be better due to supercropping, extra lights, and container size, but no way I will get 10oz dry. Maybe 5-6 total, judging from my experience.

If I am unable to get a veg station going I think I will have to focus a lot more on early training and grow bushes. Topping doesn't work well, really stunts plants under 11/13 from seed. Either way it will get squared away.

What is perplexing to me is that you have the height in your flowering tent to grow much larger plants which obviously equates to a much larger yield. Even if you just grew one big plant right in the corner out of the way and filled the rest of the tent with your smaller plants.

This is my first full year of growing seriously and I switched lights after having everything just perfect. I had 3-4ft plants that yielded 1-2oz each under crappy led some small cfls and a 250w CFL in a wing reflector. Same containers and nutes when I first got the QBs and my yield/plant size actually went down???

The plants seem healthier than ever before. I am thinking spectrum is playing a role in these difficulties. Only now am I starting to get larger plants again, on the right track at least.

When we have apartment inspections it is kind of nice to be able to fit all of the plants in a 35 and 50 gallon tote. I must admit, that does make small plants handy. It's the off season for inspections now, so I am trying to go for the gold while I have time.

For now, :woohoo: kids go to bed in 18 minutes.
