Re: Sweetsue's Tiny Closet - Second Grow - Sweet Dark Devil & Bomb Berry Bomb - CFL -
Daily Update: Dark Devil Auto - Day 42
Today was Enzyme tea day, and once again I simplified the process. Last time I stopped bubbling, choosing only to let it steep for four hours. This time I took the advice of Clackamas Coot himself and stopped straining the mash out. I simply dumped it into the soil with the drench and then hit it with a good spray from the Chapin to work it in. The tea recipe was my standard brew; 1/2 oz Malted Barley Grain + a heaping teaspoon of reconstituted kelp meal mixed into a little less than a half gallon of good water and steeped for four hours. Added 1/4 oz Ful-Power fulvic acid and 1/4 cup aloe vera juice, topped off with good water to make a half gallon total volume and split it between the pots.
It can't get any easier than that.
This enzyme tea is particularly beneficial during flowering to enhance trichome structure and development. It's this tea that makes the trichomes explode in size and potency and it's this tea that has a great part in the overall health and vigor of the plant. The combination of this tea and the regular drench with coconut water offer a powerhouse of micro-nutrients to the soil community. Coot went through many varieties of SSTs before settling primarily on the malted barley grain teas. I'm just following in the footsteps of giants here in my tiny closet.
On to the show! Following the 1/4 turn and a repositioning of the lights I drenched the pots with their tea and pulled out the iPad to start taking pictures. How could anyone resist such a cutie?
She's moving at about 1/4" a day I believe. She's actually half the size of the previous tenants of this tiny closet at this stage, but I expected that with the 11/13 lighting. This lighting schedule was chosen to grow numerous smaller plants with the expectation of some unique expressions of the plant's characteristics and terpene profile than one would get if you were more concerned with yield and choosing a more conventional lighting schedule. My increase in yield will come with the addition of more plants, not in growing larger plants, or at least that's my plan. DrZiggy is proving to be a good guide. I like my prospects.
I'm mesmerized by the way the trichomes begin that march down the edges of the leaves. Makes my heart beat faster.
I seem to grow plants that like to hide the flowers behind the protective embrace of leaves. It's challenging to get in there and get the money shot.
There she is! I found this shot by happy accident. Through the lights she was all exposed and showing off the goods. Sweet!
One last stolen glance before I pull the curtain closed and get on with the day. What do you think DrZiggy? One more plant dropped down in that open space in the lower right corner of the pot? I think it just might work.
This is so much fun I sometimes have to stop and make sure it's really happening. So much of my life has been tied up in simply keeping Dale alive that I was beginning to forget there was so much more of me to offer the world. I'm so glad you guys accept me unfiltered. It's been a godsend to be allowed to express me, just the way I am, and it happened at just the right point of my life. I can't tell you how many times I thought I'd scare you all off with my wide-open approach to living. I've been told I'm a bit much sometimes. I'm ok with that.
Anyway, you all get out there and spread that love and joy far and wide. We're a powerful force of nature. Let's show that off today.
