Sweetsue's Tiny Closet - Second Grow - Sweet Dark Devil & Bomb Berry Bomb - CFL - LED

Re: Sweetsue's Tiny Closet - Second Grow - Sweet Dark Devil & Bomb Berry Bomb - CFL -

Thanks for the input Subnoise. How did you decide who gets which light?

Priority went to my biggest plants. Behind that is just clones with like a week of veg. There actually split right down the middle and get rotated 180° every day.

Re: Sweetsue's Tiny Closet - Second Grow - Sweet Dark Devil & Bomb Berry Bomb - CFL -

To answer your question Max, I checked on them about three days in and the mycelium were actively digesting leaves. I didn't stir my soil at all. I was under the impression that it wasn't necessary to stir the cooking kit soil. Was I correct in that?

Max, I'm right there with you, jumping out of my skin to get a seed into this soil. Tomorrow I'll be ordering my one gallon pots for veg and a nice 15 gallon for the final pot. I have that African Buzz seed and I want to give it lots of room for explosive roots. It will be my first start of a photo flowering species and it's 100% Sativa at that. Even under 11/13 lighting I'm pretty certain it's going to get pretty tall.

Greytail, I'm counting on you to tap me on the shoulder when it's time to train her with some gentle bending. Don't let me get too distracted and miss the opportunity to do it right.

If you are early vegging with SWICK, I noticed some fabric pots with Velcro closures so one can open the pot for transplant. I'm going to stick with only large size fabric pots this harvest.. so I didn't purchase them this time around.

I just remembered them right before I pulled up this post Rad. Are you psychically connected to me today? :laughtwo::green_heart:

Re: Sweetsue's Tiny Closet - Second Grow - Sweet Dark Devil & Bomb Berry Bomb - CFL -

OK guys. I'm going to be alright at some point. My best friend called me from Pheonix and talked until I had got past tears and we were rolling on the floor with laughter. It's our rule not to let the other go in sadness and we've gotten it down to a science. She's good for me. When Dale finally does die I'm moving in with her. She needs a good wife too. :laughtwo:

So I'm bruised but not shattered. It's an important distinction. That dull roar that started in my ear after speaking with the surgeon has subsided. Not sure where the journey is taking us yet, but I'm pretty sure I can get through at least one more day. That's enough for now. I'm still able to laugh with gusto. It's going to be ok.

Fell asleep there. I think I've had enough of today. Tomorrow's another try. I have to find a way to bring him home.

Thanks for just being there.

Good night.

God bless, Sue. Just know that once this life is over there may be an even better life waiting for you :)

Still a little rough around the edges this morning, but back at it all over again. In the middle of the night k0ncept found me and shared a lovely video of flute music and nature film. Absolutely stunning visuals that served to bring it all back into perspective for me. There were time-lapse segments that make you see the planet as a living, breathing entity in its own right. I got lost in the natural world for a while and found it soothing enough to sleep soundly.

Your concern for me is moving.

Today is the last day of April. I don't think it's a big secret how much I relished holding the honor of MOTM. Tomorrow that title gets passed to another member, who will, I'm sure, feel just as humbled by the honor as I still am. It was only right that I wear the shirt today.

A workbench in the bedroom, I'm jealous. If I tried that here, I would be kicked out.....or worse.

There are many places to share off-topic photos Boogyman. I have the Spot (in my signature), Rad had his non-420 thread (in his signature) and Dennise has a Virtual Couch thread. Please feel free to post on mine anytime. That's why I put it up.

That made Dale smile. :laughtwo: We live in a tiny 725 sq.ft. apartment and Dale is a man of many interests, from miniature trains to ships in bottles. Those hobbies require storage space for materials and supplies and space to work. Our bedroom is a multi-tasking room. The challenge is to find peace in the midst of all that stuff, something I've neglected this past year.

Now I'm introducing a 4x4' tent and hoping to create more of a sleeping-quarter atmosphere. Not your typical wife at all.

Dale laughed and said "Thank God!" :laughtwo::green_heart:

Daily Update: Dark Devil Auto - Day 39

I didn't have much time to linger today. They'll be releasing him back to the nursing home today and I need to be there for the transfer. The routine is almost funny. Feet hit the floor, I grab the iPad on the way through the living room and straight to the tiny closet where I pull back the curtain....... and there she is.

image24329.jpg

I think that makes about 3/4" vertical stretch overnight.

Let's take a peek under the skirt.

image24336.jpg

What's this I see? Trichomes! Whoa - look at this! How did I miss this?

image24337.jpg

Let's look deeper into the plant.

image24338.jpg

Frostiness has kicked in! WooHoo!

image24339.jpg

Now the real fun begins. I hope to get the tent up this weekend. Life keeps moving forward. It's the weekend, which means nothing can be done about Dale other than settle in for a couple day's rest before the challenge of next week. I want the physical therapy to focus more on upper body strength. He needs to be able to get up those stairs. Nursing care is a mistake. It's time to bring him home. I need to arrange for grab bars and mobility issues in the apartment. This standing by is not working for me.

For today I'll be content to share the beginnings of trichome production with him. We're approximately halfway through this part of the grow. Tomorrow I'll add another CFL string to the mix.

Life may be challenging, but joy will prevail. Thank you Greytail for that reminder about getting through stuff. It helps more than you know. Get out there and share some of your own joy. I've already been busy here on my end. See if you can catch up to me. :laughtwo::green_heart:

I love autos. My biggest draw initially was the lack of light stress, since my closet was wide open for the first run. Now, using the 11/13 light schedule that's of no concern, but the accelerated life cycle is exciting to behold. She's only around halfway now, so from this point on she bulks up and becomes more and more frosty and fragrant. People get smaller yields with autos, but I pulled better than 2 ounces per plant last run. I give my soil the credit for that. You're familiar with my plan for success:

- Build awesome soil.
- Surround your plant with light.
- Use good water.
- Grow awesome buds.

Easy peasy. :laughtwo::green_heart:

Re: Sweetsue's Tiny Closet - Second Grow - Sweet Dark Devil & Bomb Berry Bomb - CFL -

not hard to see the appeal of autos,, to be able to plant outside and not have to wait for the light change is reason enough,, i hope someone got rich breeding these things,,, :cheertwo::Namaste:

but,, i have to ask myself,, what are we giving up by growing autos?? has to be something. rederalis is not grown commercially (maybe i have no idea) because the buds are no good,, so,, if one crosses no good buds with good buds,,,, what is the result?? is it on the good side or the bad side of that razor,, i just don't know,,

but i be aimin to find out,,,

my little otto,, northern lights,,, the second otto i had planted died, never made it out of the perlite,, i killed it,,,,:bigblush:,, but i have planted another,, cheers sue

ok sue,, here is a real crazy thought,, are autos born with pistol parts,,?? on the first set of leaves,,?? maybe i am goin nuts,, probably actually,, but look

P1160097.JPG

the ends of both of the first leaves,, small whittish projections,, looks rotten almost,, but on both,, they look pistolish to me,, not in this pic so much but under the loupe,, my first and only auto,, so i will be watching the next one close

FWIW, the only things about Cannabis I truly despise are:

1. Femmed seeds
2. Auto's

Femmed seeds because they weaken genetics and make the "little guy" dependent on seed banks.

Auto's because they breed in useless ditchweed and over time that is going to weaken and distort our favorite plant.

I go for regular seeds every single time. Just like I prefer heirloom tomatos and the like, I also prefer landrace of IBL cannabis.

what about dirty plugged up pipes??? i know i despise those. i thot everyone did,, oh

I'm looking forward to growing regular seeds. Autos were an easy way to break into the world. Hadn't given much thought to genetic degradation.

Re: Sweetsue's Tiny Closet - Second Grow - Sweet Dark Devil & Bomb Berry Bomb - CFL -

Smoked a whole, lotta bunch of Champagne just a while ago, so I'm extremely wordy and chock full of unsolicited advice tonite:

Growing auto's is for special circumstances and the choice to grow an auto is done as a result of prohibition or geography. I liken it to riding a bike.

Growing from clone is like driving a car with automatic transmission.

Germing regular seeds, sexing and choosing phenotypes is like driving a manual transmission AND knowing how to check the oil, tire pressure, all fluids, treadwear, etc.

Doing all that and choosing phenotypes is like knowing how to back up a trailer properly.

Professionals are yet another level up in my hierarchy of grow skills. The cool thing is that the skill necessary to grow outstanding cannabis can be done on a very small scale.....200 sq ft small.

But you don't develop those skills with femmed seeds....because you can't breed unless you irritate the plant to produce male flowers. Anyways, you see where I'm going with this.

Those of us that love the plant are worried about genetics and what's being done to breeding stock.
