SweetSue's Perpetual 3.0 - The Hempy/HB Hybrid Grow

He’s intrigued. A fan of Jack Herer himself it was enticing to find something so close in profile and yet a hint that it could be “better” than the popular chemovar. Maybe he’ll look further. :battingeyelashes:
You know how I love my Jack Herer. One of these days I get a taste of this Carnival. One of these days. :slide:

We’ll have to see what we can do about accelerating the timeline for you Jim. :battingeyelashes:

I've just hit the one month cure on my carnival and the terpinolene is starting to come out. It surprised me as that's one of the main terps in my purple Malawi. My Malawi has a sweet berry flavor with it instead of the dark funk that carnival has mixed in, but they are very similar. The buzz is similar as well except that carnival has a bit of indica mixed in.

Out of my last run of around 8 strains carnival was one of the standouts. Thank you for pushing the carnival bandwagon Sue!

How exciting! I think I’ll plant the Purple Malawi first instead of the Zamaldelica Morglie. This intrigues me.

I explained to the dispensary manager that we were all surprised to get the lab results back. It’s more of a mystery than ever that Carnival stands out the way it does.

I wondered for a long time if my appreciation for the chemovar was somehow tied to my friendship with Graytail, but as other growers started returning with the same appreciation I knew we were into something wonderful.

It warms my heart to have been a part of getting this chemovar more widely grown so others can also get the same delicious results. When you find a good thing you naturally want to share. :battingeyelashes: :green_heart:

My Carnival has become a fan favorite for sure. I liked the flower but I love smoking the cob. I've shared that with 4 other people now and get the same response. One person said smoking the flower was fun but the cob....whoa! I may have another winner on my hands with this tangie x ghost train haze cut too. That one is a GTH pheno and reeks with terpinolene.

Well Sue. Well said! I can't even look at dispensary nugs, because I can't help but laugh, and dont want to offend. 60 bucks an eighth for crap weed harvested 2 weeks too soon. Claims over 20% but takes half a gram to get medicated? Idk. I've. Even forever converted to a full on weed snob. And the concentrate.... dont even get me started lol. 80 to 100 a gram of crappy buttered "shatter". I THINK NOT!!! Okay I admit to being a wax snob too. Hard to understand how that junk comes from a $50k lab.... ohh how I would love to go mad scientist with that equipment!!!

Ok dispensary rant over. Seed making is addicting. Not sure I'll be harvesting any non seeded plants any time soon. Too much fun to cross!!!

Say high to chris for me. I have a feeling well be seeing some of his crosses pop up in your garden soon! I have some fresh frozen awaiting me and I think I'll make some "jolly tamales" aka cobs or atleast try.

Enjoy the rest of the trip!!! Az should be nice and toasty for ya!

Keep in mind Sue, that the Malawi seeds are a cross of a green father with my purple mother. The seeds should have a 50/50 chance for a purple pheno, it's not locked in on that cross. Tead seemed to find an unusually large amount of purple plants in them though. I just wanted to make sure you're aware they're not certain to get a purple pheno.

Either way, I'm honored to have you growing some of my seeds.

Haha! I’ll be honest, I never looked at the nuggets. Lol! What I got for next to nothing, as a gift for purchasing that quantity held promise, but I haven’t had a chance to really get a good taste. I couldn’t bring myself to choose a gram of bud I grow better for the outrageous prices the legal restrictions encourage.

What’re they gonna do when it’s no longer illegal?

Lol it was totally worth the $1 you paid.

That's the sad part. It is legal. But how they bend you over should be illegal! I mean I get there is overhead and uncle sam ALWAYS has to has his hand in things... but come on. The growers aren't making squat it's all the dispensary inflating prices.

I know farmer John said when he was still working here in washington they all had an agreement to inflate concentrate prices. So he sold his stuff at half price and drove everyone prices down. He went to az to team up with subcool, and the prices went right back to "way too much" sad really ...

Surfers are pure opportunists, swimming their way out for the possibility of one good wave to carry them in, feeling the pulse of the surf, watching the swells, hoping, ever hoping and ready to pounce when it comes.

I’m sitting here in the shade of the upper porch, watching the surf roll in, getting used to this carefree feeling.

One of my favorite moments is watching the groups of pelicans smoothly glide over the tops of the rental units between us and the beach, looking for all the world like stealth bombers. Ahhh.... this is sweet. :circle-of-love:

Exactly! The seed bug bit me in the late 80s, and I seldom have a grow without some selective pollination taking place. The volume of seeds got ridiculous, literally many pint jars after hand selection. It sooo addictive! Some first crosses can possess a hybrid vigor that's uniquely awesome. I especially like to cross nearly pure landraces of sativa and indica. The results are so wonderfully variable and different. I've tried stabilization of a few great crosses, but have failed on most all occasions. I'm not patient enough to be a breeder I guess!

Peace
Keith

I hear that Kieth! Hit my ATF with femenized strawberry kush pollen and cant wait to see that F1 hybrid vigor in action!!!!

May I kieth? So lazy. You want to cross 2 already good stabilized strains. That gives you and "F1" take a boy and girl from that generation cross them and you get an F2... and so on. There are a couple ways to stabilize. First is to line breed to an f5 or f6. The Gene's become so inbred that there is relatively no genetic variation.

F1s will normally give you 4 pheno types. But an F2 (and I'm quoting pennywise here) will show many many phenos... errrr.... sorry sue.... chemovars.

This is important because you want to search for traits you want in your final plant. Smell color nodal spacing flower time etc.

Okay next. Back crossing. This involves taking your f2 or f3 and crossing it with one of the original parents. Because it shares the same DNA the cross will take on that parents traits. Some times this also takes a few runs to stabilize but can offer a stable strain a bit quicker.... sometimes.

And kieth correct me if I am wrong but you can back breed your f2 or 3 with mom and dad? Like take your f2 pheno and back cross once with mom then the next run with dad? I'm not sure exactly cause my plan is to go with the line breeding.

There is a really good write up somewhere here on 420 that explains it a bit better but that's the idea.

I know I posted a link in my breeding journal let me go find it....

Traveling by car from San Diego to Phoenix, getting a ride with those heading back early. Just as I’m all tucked in I can hear the family outside the car discussing how a friend got stopped and searched three times my friend steps up to the car and asks if I’m carrying any cannabis.

She knows I went to the dispensary, but she doesn’t know about the capsules, bud, cob and brownies packaged with them and buried in my suitcase.

“I only ask because they have dogs at the border. It’s legal here, but not in Arizona.”

It won’t make it to the border. There’s no way in hell I’ll take the risk in someone else’s car, someone who has no idea I have it with me.

*sigh*

On the brighter side, it’s only a financial loss of $80. I now understand the reason I wasn’t inspired to purchase more than the two pens.

The loss of the extras hurts on a more personal level, but all of that can find its way back into my life through other visits in the future.

I choose to see this as a good thing, and I’m comfortable with the decision to let it go. It’d be nice to find a homeless guy I could hand it over to.

Didn’t see this one coming, did we? Lol!

I opted for two Blue Dream FHO capsules instead of the brownies. :battingeyelashes: I took one now and I’ll take the other before we hit the border, if I think I can handle it. Lol!
