SweetSue's Perpetual 2.0 - The Transition To Doc Bud's HBB Kit

:hmmm: Aha! The woodgrain. 15 minutes, tops. :cheesygrinsmiley:

I love fine work like that. I spent a few years working with Swarovski crystals, picking up flatbacks as small as 2mm with fingers alone, and setting them into fresh glue. Bought 'em 10 gross at a time. Did wedding pens, earrings, bracelets, clothing ... pageant shoes ...

That's admirable work.

I knew that would catch your eye Graytail. :battingeyelashes:

He was a master. He used to cut 3/4" Appleply, which is 11 layers of apple wood surfaced in maple with absolutely no voids in it using a blade rated for 1/8" wood. He made the saw sing to a very particular tone. He did the same with the tattoo machines. Precise tuning and a firm hand.

Hahaha! It occurs to me that this was exactly how he controlled me, precise tuning and a fine hand. Mmmmmmm..... He was a keeper. :battingeyelashes:

You said "woodgrain" and the two pieces at each end of the semi-circle popped into place. I suspect you'd finish it in under 5 minutes.

With that background, have you watched the reality shows "Faceoff" and "Skin Wars"?
Next season - more glitter !

I didn't get it any further than here.

IMG_49446.JPG

I didn't notice until I posted the pictures last night that I could see the wood grain better on the page than with my eyes alone. The pieces are impossibly small to manipulate, and you don't want to make the mistake of getting a piece jammed.

I'll get it eventually. :cheesygrinsmiley: I'm keeping it sitting next to my workstation, so it'll keep calling me until it's finished. :laughtwo: I'm hoping all the pieces are there.

Good morning Sue! :hugs: :hugs: :hugs:

There you are darling girl. :hugs:  :hugs: Life got really busy when we returned from Paradise, didn't it? We got hit with snow overnight. I shudder to consider where this all came from. Hang tight, Spring is on the way. :yahoo:

Good morning everyone.
What a change overnight. Went to bed after having doors and windows open all day and awakened to a coating of snow and blustery winds. Whew! We know it's March, don't we? :laughtwo:

This is your morning call to joyful expression. Get out there and spread that joy I know is bubbling to the surface. Spread it far and wide, and you'll find at the end of the day that the stores didn't diminish, but rather grew. I love that characteristic about joy - spread it around and you end up having more. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Do your part, and by all means, have fun with it. Life is supposed to be fun. It's supposed to feel good. If you're isn't feeling good, do something about that. We work with a joy-producing plant. Utilize it.

They didn't call anandamide "the bliss molecule" for nothing, and THC is a perfect match for your body's own production. I'm starting my day with a delicious spinach omelette and a brownie half. Get some cannabinoids into you and share the joy from there. No matter how you make it happen, spread the joy.

I have a luncheon date today with a dear friend, so I'll be doing my joy-spreading part too. :ciao:

Weekly Update: CBD Critical Cure (Friday, March 10, 2017

Whew! We're roaring into mid-March already. I better get back to accelerating the exit of belongings so I'll be ready to relocate when the universe says "NOW Susan!" :laughtwo:

Let's start our journey with CBD Critical Cure 2. (Day 88, Flip +13)

She's filling out out the tent beautifully. I believe I'm learning to appreciate having a tent for each individual blooming plant. This is beginning to look like a SweetSue style settling in right before my eyes. :laughtwo:

IMG_49339.JPG

I believe I'll budget for another humidifier for this tent. I'd like to see these numbers get up into the 50% range. Maybe later today I'll scrub down the one in the other tent and shift it.......no! No chance of cross-contamination if I don't move anything out of that tent until I harvest and sanitize. I'll need two humidifiers if I plan to maintain two flowering tents anyway, don't I? Next week I'll pick up the next one. That should get the humidity factor under control, leaving only the summer temps to deal with, but I should be moving by then and I'll have much more to adjust in both humidity and temperature. :laughtwo: The adventure never ceases. Lol!

IMG_493415.JPG

Good Lord, she's a beautiful plant. She has the most amazing scent too, which I'm beginning to wonder about. Could this be the smell of humulene? I don't know why that one jumps off the page at me, but now I'm getting more and more curious about the determining scents of the individual terpenes. I'll have to make that identification part of my intense training.

IMG_493511.JPG

She got the first CAT drench today, 1.5 gallons, split between top and bottom and followed up with 1 ml of Tea steeped in 12 oz of water.

IMG_493610.JPG

Looking real good in the center.

IMG_493711.JPG

I pulled all the restraints. She's done with any stretch by now, no reason to hold her back anymore, and without these it's much easier to water her.

IMG_493913.JPG

Thinned out the leaves, but very cautiously. I've lost so many leaves to mites lately I'm adverse to taking any out, but I wanted dappled sunlight on the soil surface.

These few few culled leaves went into the cooking soil. As soon as I opened the lid I got hit with a nice blast of warmth that caused the most delighted smile to spread across my cheeks. Hehe! Happy, active soil, just waiting for the next pot to be ready to fill. :slide:

IMG_494010.JPG

IMG_49418.JPG

On to the mite-ridden environment. I didn't do anything at all with Emerald (she's at Day 137, flip + 40) other than to shift locations to the back of the tent, out from under the shower of mites she's been enduring. The humidifier got shifted to the front and turned up a couple notches. Let's see how that works out.

IMG_49466.JPG

Her pistils are just beginning to turn. Another two weeks, minimum.

IMG_494710.JPG

IMG_494810.JPG

Candy Cane (Day 96, flip + 40) is doing her best to survive the onslaught. She might surprise me with more than the ounce I'm anticipating.

IMG_49499.JPG

IMG_49508.JPG

IMG_49526.JPG

IMG_495311.JPG

My reassurance that I switched the lights back to full spectrum. You wouldn't believe the number of times I've missed doing this. Lol!

IMG_49549.JPG

Candy Cane is taking a gallon in the reservoir every two days now. A thirsty one.

IMG_495512.JPG

Be right back.... time for a steamy shower to wash away any chance of mites before I go anywhere near the rest of the garden. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Ok, I'm back. On to the rest of the garden.

The CBD Critical Cure 2.1 is thriving. (Day 20) She was a bit droopy yesterday, but recovering well. She's gonna explode any day now. I can feel it coming.

IMG_495613.JPG

IMG_495713.JPG

I'll need to be more attentive to training this one. Clones are still new to me.

IMG_495911.JPG

The nursery is humming along. :battingeyelashes:

IMG_49609.JPG

Carnival 3 (Day ???). I'll have to look later. My date is here and I have to run.

IMG_496211.JPG

The DDAs are now 14 days old. I believe I'll let these two go unmolested to get a feel for the vigor of Rifleman's genetics as opposed to the Sweet Seeds ones.

IMG_49639.JPG

IMG_496411.JPG

That's the nickle tour. Thank you all for joining me in this joyful moment in our new day. I'm off to lunch with a friend, so I'll catch up with everyone later. :hugs:

Checking inventory I came across the Carnival I harvested right before Christmas. Thought I'd give it a try. It's been stored with a Boveda pack all this time, and I'd say it's held up wonderfully. Nice aroma and clean taste, hits clear and hard. Mmmmm..... a nice diversion in a good day. :cheesygrinsmiley:

IMG_49729.JPG

Too stoned to get a clear picture, but you get the point as to the trichome coverage and integrity. This stuff packed a nice punch at just over two months. I didn't finish this bud, so a little goes a long way. :laughtwo: I have plenty of it left to try in another couple weeks when it hits three months in cure.

IMG_497210.JPG

IMG_49742.PNG

The real star of this post is the batch of about two grams I popped into the oven at 230 degrees F intending to decarb for 90 minutes and forgot about, to be surprised by the warm oven three hours later when I returned from shopping with the daughter. Of course I didn't set the alarm on the phone. I knew I'd be right there when the timer on the stove went off.

That's what I'm smoking for the rest of the evening. I'll let you know how it goes. It's hitting pretty hard. The smell is amazing. This was from the Carn2 clones, a substandard harvest, or so I thought. It came through this process smelling very close to what the plants grown in the kit soil do, and be assured, they have a distinctive aroma that speaks to quality. This is a small quantity of what I ended up roasting.

IMG_49777.JPG

The stuff's coated in trichomes. Time for another hit. :cheesygrinsmiley:

IMG_49787.JPG

Back to my ongoing buzz.

:passitleft:

I stumbled upon this wandering through the offerings at MedicalJane. It was from the comment section of an article on CBN, which I was researching because prevailing wisdom is that when one roasts the cannabis for hours one should expect a certain amount of degradation to CBN, so why not find out what I'm dealing with?

I've since remembered studies proving that the degradation of THC to CBN when one roasts it is negligible, but I still found this bit about cannabinoid production from the perspective of plant biology incredibly interesting, so I thought I'd share. :battingeyelashes:

I have one big problem with this research: you can have massive amounts of THCa and lots of CBN too. Just because your flower is older doesn't mean this is a bad thing! So let's talk about senescence. If you have ever watched a time-lapse film of cannabis flowering, you will notice there is a *first senescence when the white pistils turn red. You might even notice a sign of leaf yellowing, when chlorophyll is converted to a group of colourless tetrapyrroles known as nonfluorescent chlorophyll catabolites (NCC's), not in an attempt to harness the last sugars, carbs and starches as we were told, but simply to capture as much of the red light as possible in Fall. But if the grower doesn't harvest, the flower produces another cycle of white pistils and clear resin glands, and the leafs usually green back up. This is because there is a photoperiod built into your plant where it tests to see if it has been pollinated yet. If not, it goes back into flowering mode again and the bud swells. The precursor cannabinoids were simply SUNBLOCK that is no longer needed, because they are about to be swallowed up by the swelling bud. Instead the plant is going to send the terpenes and phenols to the surface of the bud to grow NEW cannabinoids.

Yes, your CBN levels are climbing. But now your bud is producing a whole new crop of cannabinoids including THCa. This cycle repeats around every 2 weeks for many months for most varietals. You can grow MASSIVE buds under the right conditions, especially Indoor where you can sort of "freeze the season" and overrule that photoperiod. Yes, there are lots of CBN's there. The claim that they produce a harsh smoke is bunk. They are not a sign that the bud is past it's point of ripeness. They are a sign that the grower let his buds swell up again and again, experiencing a First Senescence, a Second one, a Third one and often up to SIX or MORE. Each "Pistil Cycle" or "Senescence Cycle" grows another layer of bud like onion layers, and the atomic weight of the total number of cannabinoids are exponentially multiplying!

Oh, you don't like CBN's? Try treating your plant to UV-B radiation and purposefully turn those THCa's to THC before they can be downgraded into CBNa. Now you have loads of THC in a massive massive massive flower, so big you have to use lots of supports, so big you win the big Cup. Since the THCa has already been largely converted in the interior of your bud, it wont' decarb in the lab test which will just catch the overall ratio of THC now - nothing is left out. Will there be CBN's in your flower you grew for 3 to 5 months? Of course! But your THC levels are 5% higher than everyone elses because you used UV light to interrupt the downgrade, and your other Cannabinoids are also much higher than the competition. Winning!

See? Wasn't that fun? :slide:

You're welcome. :hugs:

...... You bet I'm high. It's Friday night. :cheesygrinsmiley:

I always manage to start making oil in the middle of the night. :laughtwo:

7 grams of Carn2:4 in 1/2 cup of olive with a tablespoon of liquid sunflower lecithin.

IMG_498414.JPG

In for the 36-hour decarb and infusion. I'm too tired to stay up. This one can cook overnight before I start shaking it every hour. :battingeyelashes:

Been a long day. I'm calling it a night. I'll see you all tomorrow. :hugs:

IMG_498511.JPG

A Little Training Time

CBD Critical Cure 2.1 is growing vertically out of control. My height restrictions call for more control than I've been exerting. Time to start her on her training.

That's better. :battingeyelashes: :green_heart:

Some nice bondage on her

Sent from my SM-G920V using 420 Magazine Mobile App

:laughtwo: It tickles me how we think of this as bondage, and then there's the complicating emotions when they respond with pleasure. Lol!

Very nice. Excellent job Sue.

Cheers.

Why thank you Ditch. I seem to be catching on to this part of the process. Get these mites under control and I'll be rolling along. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Oil Reserves

I ended up with 109 capsules from the 1/2 cup of oil I started with. Not a bad pull. I'm getting better at squeezing it all out. The best part is licking the fingers. :laughtwo:

IMG_50043.JPG

These were made with a half cup of coconut oil, a tablespoon of liquid sunflower lecithin and 7 grams of Carnival. I use 8 grams of bud per pan of brownies, and I suspect I can get away with a much smaller dose and still get into the stratosphere, so it's time to work out the dosing. I'll hold off on brownies today to play with these instead. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Good morning everyone

Glancing into the garden,

Carnival 4 is getting ready to take flight. :laughtwo:

IMG_50147.JPG

IMG_50156.JPG

DDA7 is noticably larger and more vigorious than DDA6.

IMG_50136.JPG

It's looking like it almost might be time to water them again. It's been a full two weeks since they came up, and they haven't had a drink yet.

IMG_50136.JPG

The monsters in the mite-ridden tent are still bulking up.

IMG_50085.JPG

The Star...... CBD Critical Cure 2. Good lord, she's turning into a lovely specimen, and the scent she's emitting is delicious beyond description.

IMG_50065.JPG

IMG_50074.JPG

Her first clone is grabbing the soil beautifully, and resisting my attempts to corral her vertical climb. :laughtwo:

IMG_50094.JPG

The second clone's been working on roots for a few weeks now. I clipped her right before I left for Jamaica. She still looks healthy....

IMG_50116.JPG

.....and now she's sprouted a tap root, so the rest of the roots can't be that far behind. Good. I'd like to get ahead of this strain so I can play with a couple others. This only having space to flower two photos at a time is going to tax my patience. Lol! There will never be enough space for the obsessed cannabis cultivator, will there?

IMG_50103.JPG

Part of the weekly maintenance of this particular garden is the cleaning of the distiller. Every Sunday morning it gets filled with hot water with 2 tablespoons of cleaner added and left on to bubble away the mineral buildup. Then it gets wiped down all squeeky and clean for the next week. :cheesygrinsmiley:

IMG_50054.JPG

Now it's time to toss SweetSue into the shower and get her all squeaky clean too. Lol! I'll catch up in a bit. :ciao:

In the meantime, let me expncourage you to take every opportunity to fill your slice of paradise with the joyful anticipation of something big on the horizon. Your expectation can pull in the most unexpected wonders. When one of those brilliant events falls into your life feel free to share it. Sharing joy increases it exponentially. We like that. :battingeyelashes:

thanks to SweetSues generosity, I will be wearing some of the latest fashions this spring.

new hats:thankyou:

Thank you so much for taking them off my hands. :hugs: Now I need someone planning a massive bash that needs a selection of smoking paraphernalia. Lol! I don't want to have to take all that with me when I move.

It's nice to have a member living so close, and even nicer that you grow in HB soil. Just the luxury of meeting another member face-to-face is a wonderful thing. To think of how rich my life became in this respect alone kinda takes me back. My life seems to have become a tumbling of joyful experiences. Huh! That's exactly what I should've expected, given the path I choose.

Good Morning everyone.

Slept like a baby. I'm awake and so looking forward to what delights the universe has in store for me. Are you ready to play? :slide: Join me in the search for more ways to introduce joy into the daily experience. I'll tell you, after a couple months of starting my day with this playful mindset my days have lost almost all semblance of frustration. Negative emotion is something I instantly resolve. The clarity of thought alone that accompanies this game makes it worth the time and energy expended.

Join me. Get out there and let that joy bubbling up loose on the world. We can certainly use more of it, can't we?

Alright, out of the bed and into the shower. Let the games begin!!!

:ciao:

I thought I'd take you along while I did some gardening. :cheesygrinsmiley:

I got to thinkin' about that tap root coming out of the plug and decided it was time to pot the clone and let nature take its course.

IMG_504311.JPG

IMG_504611.JPG

IMG_504813.JPG

Just a light 1/4 Transplant with a drop or two of Tea.

IMG_504912.JPG

She took about a gallon total. This is an incredibly drought-resistant strain. She likely won't ask for another drink for a couple weeks.

IMG_505110.JPG

Add the steeping drench to the water...

IMG_505213.JPG

1/2 below...

IMG_505310.JPG

....the other half lovingly applied to fascilitate even compaction of the soil. I'm hoping to avoid any big, dry spots.

IMG_50548.JPG

Done carefully the surface is almost level when I'm finished. :blunt:

IMG_505615.JPG

The highest point is the edge of the plug sticking up above the surface. That'll get buried next time.

IMG_50578.JPG

IMG_50589.JPG

She got dropped beside 2.1. In a day or so I'll lift her up closer to the light.

IMG_50599.JPG

The internal parts of 2.1 are beginning to pay attention to the light.

IMG_50617.JPG

Did some tucking of big fans while I was there.

IMG_506211.JPG

IMG_506310.JPG

Had to take a peek at the mom. That big clone is looking more vigorious than the original stock.

IMG_50667.JPG

Damn..... She is a pretty one.

IMG_50676.JPG

I keep forgetting to mention the tools I use for potting. I keep them back here behind the bin of soil.

IMG_50688.JPG

The measuring cup is one I almost never use in cooking. It's what I use to fill the majority of the 1 gallon pots. The spoon comes in handy in so many ways. My favorite tool though is the bonsai funnel that allows me to get into tight spaces without spilling soil everywhere. Yes..... I still spill. :laughtwo: I keep a Dust Devil nearby at all times. Lol!

IMG_50698.JPG

One last look in the tent......:dreamy:

image38041.jpg

Off to make groceries with the daughter. Later. :ciao: :green_heart:

Happy Monday Sue!!! Huggss. Plants lookin beautiful as always. Sorry the mites are after ya......but then that why ya wanna wash your flowers anyways right!? I think both will be very good meds no matter what. Bugs happen to the best of growers! I think pigeons has thrips. :volcano-smiley:

a selection of smoking paraphernalia. Lol! I don't want to have to take all that with me when I move.

Just the luxury of meeting another member face-to-face is a wonderful thing.

I can use a new pipe or small bong if you have any spares :bong:

Now when I read what you post i hear your voice in my head instead of my own.

I noticed when I read a book my friend wrote, it was like he was reading it to me.

I hear you on the voices. I've met a fair number of members in the past year, and been in phone contact with even more, and the forum took on a totally new feel when those meetings began. It's even more of a neighborhood to me.

Good morning Scottay. :hugs:  I've decided the mites are potentiating my oil through the stress they exert. :laughtwo: Another week or so and they'll be ancient history, or so I assure myself. :battingeyelashes:

Pigeons has thrips? Awk!!! They're easier to get control of than the Borg. I'll have to stop and give him some moral support.

Very nice looking garden sue will be subbing in to learn a thing or two if that's OK by you

be humble and kind! :)
New to growing

:welcome: to the joyful journal herbalmed. Pull up a cushion and join in the conversation. It's always extra special to meet new friends. I'll have to swing through your grow and see how it's looking. You did know growing is the most addictive part of this process, didn't you? No one told you that before you started? Too late, you're one of us now. :laughtwo:

Make yourself at home. :hugs:
