Thin Mint GSC

Hey, I have one of those seeds! Does it really smell like a girl scouts cookie? I need to keep my eye on that one. But I don't have much room...

Happy Labor Day 420Mag :420: Folks, especially those that still must Labor through the work week.

There, now you're prepared with more joy. :battingeyelashes:

Thank you Sue! Joy has been received!

What a terrible problem you have there, keeping count of 1st class genetics!

:bravo:

I just culled 7 males from 10 total plants flipped to 12-12 three weeks ago :thedoubletake:,
but since it's my own crossed and grown seeds, nothing really lost. IMHE with this Sativa dominant strain, the fastest out of the gate and tallest seedlings at 3 weeks usually end up being the dudes, and the more patient and full bodied seedlings often are the ladies. I did keep one male (special sativa strain to me) to collect some pollen from him in a few weeks ... then off with his head!

I've never tried using culled males for making Oil, I'm still a very inexperienced Oil Noob, maybe 15 productions performed so far. I'm getting a little better at it with each session, but still feel very wet behind the ears producing Oil.

Does anyone have any thoughts concerning the use of young male plants for Oil?
Maybe not enough cannibinoid production for plants at such a young age and being male?

Thanks
Keith

This one is a monster TS. She's growing with the RX nutes, and she'll outperform her mother, who incidentally does smell of chocolate in late bloom. livetoskate told me they turn purple too, but I'm not seeing that, at least not yet.

Had a lot of puttering in the garden today, starting with drenches and progressing to other chores. I finally got that clone cutting from Malawi.

Their view into the future. :battingeyelashes:

I turned and smiled delightedly, because what cultivator wouldn't want a sight that beautiful in the corner of the living room? :laughtwo:

IMG_131538.JPG

Then I grabbed the cutters and cleaned up the undercarriage of Carnival 4.1.

While all of that was going on I was also making a pan of Candy Cane brownies for the daughter. She's pleased as punch to get her brownies back.

The branch of CBD Critical Cure 2.1.1 is dry enough now to deep 6 with Ultra Dawg.

Now everyone's fed that needs fed, all the necessary chores are done, and the evening is free, but I sure do love the puttering. :cheesygrinsmiley: It never feels like work. Well.... almost never. :laughtwo:

This one is a monster TS.

<SIGH> Everything I grow is a monster. Now it appears that everything I consider growing would be, too. Funny... the things you don't look at as problems - until they are.

I took a cutting from the Jack Herer, then forgot about it being parked in the corner of the grow room floor. I just looked, and it's already in "bushy tree" mode. Maybe I'll leave it in the Solo cup, lol. Actually, it's destined to go into its mother's pot - which is probably between one and two gallons at a guess - unless I strap it down and force it to start punching out babies (lol).

I finally got that clone cutting from Malawi.

Awesome! That one should really suit the grower ;) . Flower that thing right now and I bet it won't get an inch over four feet, lol. (No, don't - it'll make a better monster bush, IMHO.)

Seems like I stuck something else in a smaller, clear(+/-) plastic cup a week or ten days ago. I think it was about that long ago. Let's see... I cut it, stuck it, watered it in... then I noticed it had wilted badly and gave it part of the glass of water I was drinking - and it perked back up, of course. I should probably take a look at it, too; it's probably thirsty. Oh, the Blueberry x White Widow, that's what it is.

I haven't gotten around to sticking anything into perlite, yet. I'm sort of debating whether to fortify some with Osmocote Plus or try to scrape together enough nutrients from my collection of old partial jugs and fly it blind (no pH testing). I think I might have somewhat better luck using the O+ in soil than in hempy. Or maybe not. I won't be sure until I find myself looking at what I've stuck everything into just what I'll do. I do want to stick something in it, just for the knowledge it'll provide.

What I really want is a little Igor to drag some phototropic plants in and out of the darkness every 12 hours. These auto-flowering plants might end up in 12/12 before it's over with...

Rambling, as per usual. I hope your Malawai Gold is a real champion.

I recommend the Osmo Plus TS. My last two harvests were grown with Osmo. You don't get much easier than water only.

I stopped pH adjusting too, and the Thin Mint GSC looks like she doesn't notice a difference.

Looks like I'm growing Crop King Seeds' Train Wreck Auto and Soul Breeders' White Widow Auto as of right now (still seedlings). Need to get them into larger containers of some sort (various available up to approximately two-gallon).

Looking at adding a Virginian or two (DDAₛ₁ ;) ). And either another Train Wreck Auto and a mystery auto... or some Jack Herer and/or Huckleberry clones. I haven't decided yet. I don't want to run out of room. I'd hoped to have the tent AND the closet going about now - both for the extra room and so I could go back to two different light schedules - but it wasn't a great year and I'm trying to keep my electric bill <$50, so just the closet (3'x3', more or less) until further notice.

You weren't troubled with an excess of nitrogen during the last 60% (post-stretch phase) of the flowering period when growing auto-flowering strains with Osmocote Plus? Did you end up supplementing with any additional potassium (et cetera) during the flowering period? I'd go back and read from post #1 but... 3,629 posts.

You continue to inspire me with your positive attitude. Although I look upon it more with a sense of wonder than out of any serious expectation of ever being able to completely match it, lol.

I don't blame you on the daily cleanings on the bong Sue. I have seen some peoples bongs and its just freaking nasty. I don't do every day but not far from it. Usually after every 3rd or 4th use. I can't stand putting a filthy dirty bong up to my lips.

We usually wait until 2-3 bongs and pipes (+ bowls) need cleaning. Sort of like saving up laundry for a full load.

I never thought about Epsoms. I have sea salt , which should work well too. I just soak the stem in 91% ISO and use a formed pipe cleaner. Takes all of three minutes start to finish. Lol!

I never thought of Epsoms either. We use the pink Himalayan Sea Salt and 91% isopropyl alcohol. I often skip the sea salt.

If a bong looks hard to clean, we won't buy it.

I used CaliMagic and water. That's all. I believe I did one additional feeding before I decided it was me getting the light too close that was challenging my charges, not the nutrients.

Thank you. My mother would be proud to hear you say that. :battingeyelashes:  I go way beyond positive attitude to deliberate joy. Lol! You, of all people, know it's not an act.

The deliberate choice to be joyful is based in my desire to have the universe continue to shower me with more things to be joyful about. It's also the best way I've found to keep my body in healing mode. I have little desire to become ravaged by the concerns we chalk up to growing older. A couple years back I determined to grow younger for a few years. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Me too. well my missus like pipes. but i look for clean-ability, just bought a small stone pipe yesterday. I have used the pink salt as well but I will usually soak overnight, change the water a couple of times. That is why i have more than one piece so I can have one being cleaned while one is in use.

Edit:trying something different: Link to picture of new pipe :-)

How pretty! I used to have a stone pipe. I used it all the way up to when I got the bong. It's still around here somewhere. I'll go searching later and find it. I'd forgotten about it. Lol!

Cleaned the bong this morning, and a good thing too. Jgrowlove stopped by today for a meet and greet and took home a bunch of organic garden amendments that I no longer have a use for. Next time I'll give him the rest. :cheesygrinsmiley:

He left me with a couple seeded buds from a freshly-harvested Barney's Farm Liberty Haze..

IMG_134143.JPG

IMG_134348.JPG

He also left this almost dry bud that I'll be testing it out today.

IMG_133947.JPG

Delicious and potent. :laughtwo: Obviously grown with care and love.

IMG_134546.JPG

While he was here we had a lesson on cloning. I took Rad's suggestion to do another cutting of Carnival 4.2. She's at Day 16 of flower.

IMG_132943.JPG

IMG_133043.JPG

She's still below the upper limit. Candy Cane isn't being cooperative vertically at all. I have no idea why she decided to go so lanky between nodes like that. If she can fill all that in I'm good. :cheesygrinsmiley:

IMG_133137.JPG

I did a clone for me, and J did a clone for himself.

IMG_133243.JPG

I've been thinking about the solo cups. They're too tall for the bag.

IMG_133345.JPG

So I cut a cup down, clipped a hole into the side for a hempy reservoir, and switched her.

IMG_133443.JPG

Now there's enough headroom inside the bag. I'll be sure to do this going forward. J took his clone with him, protected by the slurpy dome that clips on top, his bag and paper clip in hand.

J.... I suggest you make the cup a shorter hempy. :battingeyelashes:

IMG_133636.JPG

I'll stop cloning for a while now. :laughtwo:

We're going out for excellent Mexican cuisine to celebrate the daughter's birthday, but before I dash I wanted to encourage you to consider that the thoughts you have today set the stage for your future. The thoughts you had before brought you the reality you're living. If there's any discordance between what you see and what you desire, the change is possible with consistent doses of gratitude and joy.

It's so simple most people won't try it. "Surely it won't work without more work behind it, more effort!"

Believe me, it works. Get out there and practice it. :cheesygrinsmiley:

I'd love to read a smoke report about that strain.

IMG_134643.JPG

I'll save the smoke report for after the buds hanging in the hall are properly dried and cured. I'm basically smoking it raw, but I like fresh, and I've learned to get the most out of what others would consider too damp. You don't get the true flavors and aromas until they're cured at least a couple weeks.

I'm having fun with it though. It has elements that are found in Carnival, almost like a little sister. Lol! I can smell similar terpenes, but muted from what I get from Carnival.

I've read it tested out as high as 24%. This bud that J grew would make me believe that. It's a serious buzz. Lol! I got ripped and went to dinner. Had a great time and food was t-a-s-t-y! Two hits in I knew this was a heavy-hitter. It doesn't smack you, it's simply there all of a sudden, and you know it. :laughtwo: I can see how the chemovar won the competition.

I'm thinking let this buzz settle and try it mixed in equal proportion with the CBD Critical Cure.

Thank you so much for the opportunity and I'm super excited to try out the CBD critical cure u gave me!!

I had a wonderful visit. :hugs: Thank you again for helping me put those amendment to good use. They weren't doing anyone any good inside that cabinet. Try the neem meal as a top dressing. It's fairly pungent, but once you adapt to the smell it's actually soothing to the mind. There's likely a beneficial terpene involved. :laughtwo:

We should get together once a month. It's good to be able to share with someone who understands canna talk. :battingeyelashes: :green_heart:

I'm still catching Up on This amazing journal Sue! I Will sub it so I can read them even more :p

Have you grown Chocolate Mint OG Sue? I just started my first indoor growing (and journal here yay) and I can use tips and tricks :)

:laughtwo: I'm a hard one to keep up with NaturalSpirit. :welcome: to the joyful journal and to the :420: community at large. Are you finding everything to your liking? Is there anything in particular we can help you with?

No I haven't NS. I started this year intent on focusing on three different chemovars and now I'm overloaded, but Chocolate OG wasn't one of them. :battingeyelashes: This is your first grow ever? I see you have one outdoors in flower. So this will be your first harvest?

So far it feels like hitting a jackpot of likeminded People and info i can need.

I have had one outdoor grow(5 plants 2.10 meters high, but the police took them one week before flowering. I had the feeling of losing my children (i dont have real kids)

In the netherlands the police "accept" 5 plants Tho If a neighbour calls the police for the smell or whatever they always take them..

Yes I have one outside. Its about 1 meter now and starting to flower. The Two little ones a Directly cut of the outside one so it looks like ill get Some good flowers This time .

For tips Please look at my home made box and see if there is anything you are missing (keep in mind i got a small budget) or looks off to you...

Tomorrow ill make Some fresh pics .
