Carnival 4.1 (Day 98, flip + 37) on the left and Devil's Carnival (Day 92, flip + 37)

IMG_098341.JPG

Carnival is filling out the internal regions and beginning to give off a smell that rivals the Devil's Carnival. How will I make it through the next month? :laughtwo: She's being fed at the rate of 15 ml parts A & B and 4 ml of Energy per gallon of water.

IMG_098444.JPG

IMG_098643.JPG

IMG_098746.JPG

Devil's Carnival is way ahead in all aspects of flowering. I have a feeling this one will be ready to harvest before her cousin. I'll probably replace her with her clone. She's in the middle of the two plain water drenches following her CATs. Her next drink will be tomorrow.

Pistils are starting to change, and she still has weeks to go. I have a clone in veg and I'll let this genetic line stop right there. I wanted a strain with purple, so I'll try another seed next time.

IMG_098847.JPG

IMG_099043.JPG

I'm looking at what appears to be a significant amount of potential harvest. :slide:

IMG_099141.JPG

IMG_099240.JPG

The plan is to follow these two with two more flowering plants and do this dance all over again. Eventually I'll have the veg shelf down to a manageable size. :laughtwo:

Weekly Update: Veg Shelf - Friday, September 1, 2017

IMG_099342.JPG

CBD Critical Cure 2.5 (Day 37) She's hoping my plans include more soil under her, but little be a while before that space is available. For now she's holding up amazingly well. When I gave her a TransWater drench the other day I crammed as much more dirt into the tiny pot as possible. It'll have to do for now.

IMG_099543.JPG

IMG_099639.JPG

IMG_099740.JPG

IMG_099842.JPG

Malawi (Day 45) Taking off like a rocket. :laughtwo: Tomorrow she's due for a transplant into a five gallon pot. I'm hoping that by restricting her to that size pot I can keep her size somewhat under control. Lol! She absolutely beautiful, and I can't wait to see what she'll do in flower.

IMG_099936.JPG

IMG_100148.JPG

IMG_100249.JPG

IMG_100350.JPG

Carnival 4.3 (Day 37) She should be ready for her first Energy drench in the morning. She's been a while getting roots firmly established under her. Fourteen days ago was her last drink. All signs are she's ready to dance.

IMG_100444.JPG

IMG_100539.JPG

IMG_100744.JPG

CBD Critical Cure 2.6 (Day 26) She got nutes at half strength today. I've been moving her closer to the light every day and she's showing no signs of distress. I'm so glad I finally figured out light distance. That was difficult to be responsible for so much damage to the girls.

IMG_100850.JPG

IMG_101045.JPG

IMG_101141.JPG

Blue Dream S1 (Day 31) Taking in 10 ml parts A &B and 4 ml of Energy to the gallon. I'm impressed with her vigor. I could see when she hit the reservoir. It was like she sat up and took notice immediately and started growing these fat, fat leaves. Lol!

IMG_101246.JPG

IMG_101349.JPG

IMG_101544.JPG

Ultra Dawg 1.1 (Day 60) She's going to give me four of those tall colas instead of the one, so yeah..... top them Tead. :battingeyelashes:

IMG_101652.JPG

IMG_101746.JPG

What an incredible plant.

IMG_101944.JPG

Dark Slide (Day 59) She's starting to look pretty good, isn't she? :dreamy: She'll probably be one of the two that go to the tiny closet later in the month. Now to keep her contained until then.

IMG_102043.JPG

IMG_102141.JPG

IMG_102245.JPG

IMG_102444.JPG

Chem Dawg (Day?) I think I'll give her a month credit and start her day count at day 30, so I'll consider her 32 days old. That simply gives me a hook for the busy mind trying to coordinate so many plants.

IMG_102544.JPG

IMG_102640.JPG

Exploding with new growth. She'll likely get trimmed back a bit more as we go. She's still much too lanky, but if I can turn that into bushy I'll be happier.

IMG_102742.JPG

The daughter tried some of the Chem Dawg Hash Hound left as her sleep meds last night. The difference between this strain and Ultra Dawg was the soundness of her sleep. UD knocks her right out and she sleeps soundly, getting up once in the night to relieve herself, as is the norm. Chem Dawg, on the other hand, had her sleeping for eight straight hours. :yahoo: Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner!

She he says it gave her a mild allergic reaction though, so we're proceeding with caution. She believes there may be pinene in it, and it may be the terpene she's allergic to. I asked if she wanted to pass on it and she shook her head with a "No! Eight hours of restful sleep! I'll try again."

Cross the the fingers and toes.

IMG_102846.JPG

Jamaican Bag Seed (Day 54) She just had a Transplant drench on Monday. I've been wiring her branches loosely together to contain her proclivity for horizontal growth. I'm considering cloning this one and trying again. She just went into the soil, so it wouldn't be a problem dumping it back into the bin.

IMG_103336.JPG

IMG_103442.JPG

Ill think about it this week. She's starting to look pretty, and it's hard to kill a healthy and attractive plant, isn't it?

IMG_103645.JPG

Devil's Carnival 1.1 (Day 37) She can't be contained. Lol! I swear, she keeps creeping up to gargantuan stature. I seriously considered culling her this afternoon. The shelf is overloaded, and my garden isn't built to accomodate Amazons.

IMG_103741.JPG

IMG_103945.JPG

There's disputing her vigor and beauty. Her size is working against her at this stage. If I cull her, I'll take a clone so I don't lose the genetics until I've sampled the produce.

IMG_104046.JPG

IMG_104147.JPG

Whew! We made it. :laughtwo: I pulled everyone out for pictures, but also so I could reset the shelf again! :laughtwo: Tomorrow Malawi may get upcanned, which will open up a small space for someone else.

IMG_104240.JPG

The plants have èxploded the space. Lol! I shifted the lights one rung towards the front of the shelf and made use of the floor space.

IMG_104342.JPG

Checking on the clones.

Candy Cane 3.1 (Day 14)

IMG_109839.JPG

Chem Dawg 1.1 (Day 2)

IMG_110043.JPG

Carnival 4.4 (Day 12)

IMG_110156.JPG

Checked and inflated. This was when the bell went off in my head that Candy Cane 3.1 was 2 weeks old, so it was time to check the roots.

IMG_110256.JPG

YES!!! :yahoo: My first successful clone in perlite. That was soooo easy. :slide: In two days I'll check the Carnival cutting.

IMG_110757.JPG

She'll rest here tonight.

IMG_111046.JPG

I see a small bare spot there for her. :laughtwo:

IMG_111139.JPG

Something has to give in here. Either I start cloning and culling or I start drastically cutting back and letting them regrow, which doesn't sound like a bad idea. I've never tried to keep them so long in veg though. It's got me thinking about the options.

IMG_110355.JPG

I had an interesting conversation with Hash Hound about the method Clone King uses. He clones and when they get too big he clones the clones and tosses their mothers. In this way he hangs on to the genetics until he's ready to grow one out. This sounds easier than keeping a shelf overloaded with plants that want to conquer the world. Hahaha!

Look at them though.....such a happy crew, aren't they? How can I let any of them go? I'll come up with a plan, but somethings got to give. This shelf became 3'x 4' overnight.

Off to the tents. :ciao:

Weekly Update: The Tents - Friday, September 1, 2

Early Flowering Tent

IMG_104743.JPG

Time to lift the lights. I thought she was done stretching. Lol!

IMG_104638.JPG

Candy Cane 3 (Day 50, flip + 14) Her diet consists of bloom nutes at the rate of 14 ml of Part A & B and 1 ml of Energy per gallon of water. From the looks of her she's getting plenty to meet her needs.

IMG_105054.JPG

I cleaned up her lower regions.

IMG_104847.JPG

IMG_105257.JPG

Just over 27" from the perlite.

IMG_105352.JPG

Carnival 4.2 (Day 77, flip + 11) Yeah....... I'll let her speak for herself. :battingeyelashes:

IMG_105442.JPG

IMG_105547.JPG

Her nutrient levels are 14 ml Part A & B and 1 ml of Energy per gallon of water. The plants in this size pot last about five days between waterings. I'm still learning to judge when they need it vs when I'm ready to do it. I may be able to push them a bit longer in between. Something I'd be well advised to learn in veg when I'm not threatening the flowers.

Or would flowering be a good time to try this? :hmmm: Stress results in potency increases almost every time. Hmmmm..... More to consider.

IMG_105642.JPG

Thin Mint GSC 1.1 (Day 50, flip + 4) Eating 14 ml of bloom nutes, Parts A & B with 1 ml of Energy per gallon. Just look at her! :thedoubletake:

IMG_105742.JPG

She hasn't started to stretch yet. The lights are up as high as they can go.

Finish Flowering Tent

IMG_107245.JPG

Thin Mint GSC (Day 88, flip + 50) I'll be honest, she takes my breath away and makes me gasp in appreciation every day. I know the leaf damage has to be hindering her, but I can't see where. Lol! The coloration is unique and startling.

IMG_107340.JPG

She's tall one too.

IMG_107441.JPG

IMG_107651.JPG

IMG_108051.JPG

IMG_108143.JPG

CBD Critical Cure 2.2.1 (Day 119, flip + 37) She had a drink of plain water yesterday. Drying out every four days now, a sign of active flowering.

IMG_108254.JPG

IMG_108347.JPG

Pistil change in the early stages.

IMG_108541.JPG

IMG_108749.JPG

IMG_108848.JPG

IMG_108949.JPG

Candy Cane 2 is still dehydrating, the branch of CBD Critical Cure still has a few days to go before it's ready to deep six into darkness, and the rest of her is still drying in the fridge. It was a busy week. Lol!

That's the end of the nickle tour, my friends. I do hope you found it to your liking. We do our best to make the stop worth your time. I have company to tend to, so I'll catch up later. :ciao:

Amazing garden sue. As a fellow "yinzer" I've always admired your growing and journalism skills. This is priceless info you and others share on this great forum. I'm so happy to have found it and your journals. Those hempies girls look gorgeous. I never knew plants could grow so well in perlite..etc. Makes me think about things. I would say keep up the great work bt I feel like I know you after reading your journals. Awesome tutorial of the cloning process. I'll have to see if I'll have better luck with it!

I believe that's the greatest compliment you could offer J. I've done my best to present myself as I am on these pages. I'm very much what-you-see-is-what-you-get, so it's heartwarming to hear I've successfully translated me to the digital field.

I never knew plants could grow like this in perlite either J. :laughtwo: This growing season something clicked. I'm riding a wave of generosity with gifted lights, top quality nutrients I won in the MOTY contest, and growing genetics bred by our own members. Sometimes I have to pinch myself. It's like a perfect storm of inspiration, hitting when I was most prepared to accept the challenge to play. Quite the cosmic gift, if you ask me. :battingeyelashes:

I'm running 100% success with both cloning techniques. Combining hempie with the produce bags was a great inspired moment. Made it all easier and more cost effective. No more plugs necessary. :slide:

Just can't help but to admire how well you grow sum beautiful flowers sweetsue. Love how your on top of things.

Wing and a prayer Fsanti. :laughtwo: I run on cosmic inspiration in the garden as in all things. It seems to be a method that's paying off. Thank you for the compliment. :hugs:

Exploring the options

I'll hold off as long as possible on culling or chopping, but like I said, something's got to give here.

Dark Slide: Bred by electro gypsy, one of my favorite members, so I'm not feeling letting it go. The plan is to flip her into the closet when the first plant in there currently comes down. That'll be in 3-4 weeks, in all likelihood, giving me time to get creative with keeping her from turning into a giant. :laughtwo:

IMG_109048.JPG

Jamaican Bag Seed: I'm emotionally attached to this girl as well. Jamaica......I mean really, how can I cut her? Neiko tells me his reminded him of Negril I have to keep her going. :battingeyelashes: She has a lot of internal growth that has to catch up first, but she'll be joining the Dark Slide in the closet when the second of the plants gets harvested.

I'm really liking the way her leaves look now that she's starting to fill out.

IMG_109146.JPG

Devil's Carnival 1.1: When I cut off the tip of the branch on the far left this afternoon I considered cutting a clone and letting her go. I'm still considering it. She takes up a lot of real estate, and seems to laugh at my attempts to keep her reasonably low. Lol! She has the most beautiful leaves.....

I could simply chop her back a long node and let her fill out again. That might give me enough time to get her stabilized just in time to flip when space opens up in the early tent.

I was looking for a purple pheno. I think culling this one and starting over later is a good call.

IMG_109255.JPG

Small clones that are definite keepers.

Carnival 4.3, on the far left, will be my last Carnival grown in soil, unless she lets me know that's a bad plan. She'll be fine in this pot for a month, if all goes well. By then there should be a couple less plants on this shelf so her need for six more gallons of soil won't create real estate concerns.

The tiny CBD Critical Cure on the right will be my first one in perlite. Can't sacrifice her. I'll be learning to replicate the size I get with this strain in soil. Like the Carnival, she has plenty of time in this pot before she needs transplanted. Eventually she'll be in a large hempy pot.

IMG_109346.JPG

CBD Critical Cure 2.5 on the left: She's gonna need more root space soon. This one's actually a good candidate for cloning and culling. I have enough oil on hand to get the daughter and I through, and another plant less than a month out, with that clone in perlite right behind this one. So she's definately expendable.

Blue Dream S1 on the right: I'll be able to keep her going until space opens up. If not, I'd clone her and start again, but I really want to grow this girl all the way out. She'll be entering the early tent with Ultra Dawg.

IMG_109453.JPG

Chem Dawg: Another expendable one. I can take a clone and get the nodes much closer than these turned out. It just a shame to cut such a healthy plant, but space is a serious concern, and once I have the clone rooted I can make my decision then. Ok, this girl is up for consideration for culling. It was the genetics I was after, not this particular expression of it.

IMG_109546.JPG

Malawi: She gets five gallons tomorrow and flipped into the finish tent to do whatever her little heart desires. I figure holding her to that five gallons may keep her somewhat contained. In the morning she leaves a small footprint open for claiming.

IMG_109644.JPG

Ultra Dawg 1.1: She'll be next into the early tent. That won't happen for 2-3 weeks. At that time both girls in the finish tent will be done, and I'll be able to shift two from the early tent.

IMG_109746.JPG

Candy Cane 3.1: An important linchpin in the daughter's regimen, she'll do the standard progression from solo cup to small pot to large. A couple more times through and I'll have a good feel for the chemovar.

IMG_109839.JPG

By the time these two get in there there'll be open space to accomodate them.

IMG_110043.JPG

IMG_110156.JPG

Something of a plan came from that. :laughtwo: Devil's Carnival 1.1, Chem Dawg, and CBD Critical Cure 2.5 are the most expendable. Losing the three of them opens up valuable space I'll be needing soon. Let's see how long it takes me to actually do the deeds. :laughtwo:

You guys have me so hungry now I'll have to do something about dinner soon. Let me whip out these updates. Mouser, cinnamon And nutmeg in the pizza sauce? How much did you add?

I never measure anything when I cook..prolly why baking insnt my thing :) For the pot of sauce, I sprinkle cinnamon across the top lightly and then just a touch of the nutmeg...a little goes a long way. Its an interesting flavor, and one that never would have occurred to me. The girl who lived in the dorm room next to mine at college introduced me to it.

I'm impressed with her vigor. I could see when she hit the reservoir. It was like she sat up and took notice immediately and started growing these fat, fat leaves.

I love when it's that noticed.
Ya turn ur head for a week and things just explode. Fun.

She's going to give me four of those tall colas instead of the one, so yeah..... top them Tead.

Tead likey the spikey.... tho I've implemented bending to even out the canopy. They sure make such a nice even second level canopy. It's really quite handy.... just bend the spike down a touch more than the canopy and let it bend up even with the rest of the canopy.

Malawi: She gets five gallons tomorrow and flipped into the finish tent to do whatever her little heart desires. I figure holding her to that five gallons may keep her somewhat contained.

Ha, yeah, it won't end up 14' tall and nine feet across. I suspect you still could end up with something a little taller than you are, that you cannot get get your arms around. Especially if that's going to be a five-gallon hempy. That's not DWC - but it's still capable of outgrowing soil.

Hope you have lots of room....

It's so much fun. Hehehe!

I'm starting to catch on manipulating the plant to get the canopy instead of using restraining devices. You should watch Pigeons 420 manhandle his bushes. In the end he has these monster plants going into flower.

Remember when my goal with hempy was to keep them small and manageable?

At just around 1 AM I started smoking Chem Dawg. Only got about four little hits in and she let me know it was time for bed by shutting down my eyes. :laughtwo: Makes it difficult to type when you lose the ability to see the keys. Lol!

Fell asleep and woke at 9:30. :thedoubletake: Slept right through the alarm lying next to me, set to go off at 8 AM so I can open the closet curtain for the jungle to breathe. An alarm that chimes continuiously for ten minutes before shutting off. Lol!

This is a plant I'll continue to grow out. Quite the knock out pill. Lol!

IMG_111250.JPG

Think I'll trim her up a bit, after she gets better acclimated to the garden.

IMG_111338.JPG

A week or two and the internal growth should be significantly increased.

IMG_111544.JPG

She does grow pretty leaves. :battingeyelashes:

IMG_111645.JPG

Malawi comes out today for an upcan to five gallons and flipped into the finish tent to do her thing.

IMG_111746.JPG

I decided last night to use this grow as a learning experience in training and to be ruthless with one of the plants today. Devil's Carnival 1.1 was the one in my line of shot.

IMG_111939.JPG

IMG_112046.JPG

IMG_112149.JPG

Wired the lower branches up closer to the canopy.

IMG_112249.JPG

She's got a month to learn to be lower than Amazon stature. Watch her impress the hell out of us all. :laughtwo:

IMG_112441.JPG

Slept like a rock until 9:30 and went straight from bed to wake 'n bake with Pigeons, then jumped right into gardening. See how much a dedicated cannabis cultivator can get done before breakfast? :laughtwo: Damned indica still has my eyes sleepy, so I'll start with some steamy hydro therapy then feed the grumbling stomach. Maybe a stop at the finish tent to grab a banana. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Make it a joyful one boys and girls. I know I'm ready to play. Already fast at it lol! Have a great one. It's chilly here. I'll have to break out jeans and a jacket when I go out.

:ciao:

I'm loving the look of all your gardens. I have a Humboldt Seeds Organization chemdawg that I just put in flower. I'm excited to try her out and see how yours grows because I've never tried it and so many people swear by it!!

Thank you J. They have me shaking my head in wonder these days. You'll get no complaints from this happy gardener. Lol! That Chem Dawg has me reeling with the effectiveness as a sleep aid. Just yesterday the daughter commented that it knocked her out for a solid eight hours, and then it did the same for me. Lol! I'll have to hold mine back for another month, at least. That'll take some creative trimming.

I was using ChemDawg 4 as my night time medicine until my recent harvest. It certainly knocks me out.....too much in my opinion. I have switched to using a Blueberry strain as my night time med. Works well for pain and great for sleep but it doesn't zombify me like the ChemDawg 4 did. The Blueberry is a much more mellow and relaxing indica that doesn't KO me immediately. I do have to be careful though, because if I delay going to bed too long, I will wake up an hour or two later on the couch wondering when the hell I fell asleep. With that ChemDawg, there was no wondering.....I knew if I wasn't in bed within 30 minutes of smoking, I was going to be out. The Blueberry I can still function or watch an hour of TV or surf 420 for a while before I need to worry about falling asleep. The sleep is probably about the same as the ChemDawg, minus the morning 'high' hangover I generally had from the ChemDawg.
