Weekly Update: Veg Shelf - Friday, September 1, 2017
CBD Critical Cure 2.5 (Day 37) She's hoping my plans include more soil under her, but little be a while before that space is available. For now she's holding up amazingly well. When I gave her a TransWater drench the other day I crammed as much more dirt into the tiny pot as possible. It'll have to do for now.
Malawi (Day 45) Taking off like a rocket.
Tomorrow she's due for a transplant into a five gallon pot. I'm hoping that by restricting her to that size pot I can keep her size somewhat under control. Lol! She absolutely beautiful, and I can't wait to see what she'll do in flower.
Carnival 4.3 (Day 37) She should be ready for her first Energy drench in the morning. She's been a while getting roots firmly established under her. Fourteen days ago was her last drink. All signs are she's ready to dance.
CBD Critical Cure 2.6 (Day 26) She got nutes at half strength today. I've been moving her closer to the light every day and she's showing no signs of distress. I'm so glad I finally figured out light distance. That was difficult to be responsible for so much damage to the girls.
Blue Dream S1 (Day 31) Taking in 10 ml parts A &B and 4 ml of Energy to the gallon. I'm impressed with her vigor. I could see when she hit the reservoir. It was like she sat up and took notice immediately and started growing these fat, fat leaves. Lol!
Ultra Dawg 1.1 (Day 60) She's going to give me four of those tall colas instead of the one, so yeah..... top them Tead.
What an incredible plant.
Dark Slide (Day 59) She's starting to look pretty good, isn't she?
She'll probably be one of the two that go to the tiny closet later in the month. Now to keep her contained until then.
Chem Dawg (Day?) I think I'll give her a month credit and start her day count at day 30, so I'll consider her 32 days old. That simply gives me a hook for the busy mind trying to coordinate so many plants.
Exploding with new growth. She'll likely get trimmed back a bit more as we go. She's still much too lanky, but if I can turn that into bushy I'll be happier.
The daughter tried some of the Chem Dawg Hash Hound left as her sleep meds last night. The difference between this strain and Ultra Dawg was the soundness of her sleep. UD knocks her right out and she sleeps soundly, getting up once in the night to relieve herself, as is the norm. Chem Dawg, on the other hand, had her sleeping for eight straight hours.
Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner!
She he says it gave her a mild allergic reaction though, so we're proceeding with caution. She believes there may be pinene in it, and it may be the terpene she's allergic to. I asked if she wanted to pass on it and she shook her head with a "No! Eight hours of restful sleep! I'll try again."
Cross the the fingers and toes.
Jamaican Bag Seed (Day 54) She just had a Transplant drench on Monday. I've been wiring her branches loosely together to contain her proclivity for horizontal growth. I'm considering cloning this one and trying again. She just went into the soil, so it wouldn't be a problem dumping it back into the bin.
Ill think about it this week. She's starting to look pretty, and it's hard to kill a healthy and attractive plant, isn't it?
Devil's Carnival 1.1 (Day 37) She can't be contained. Lol! I swear, she keeps creeping up to gargantuan stature. I seriously considered culling her this afternoon. The shelf is overloaded, and my garden isn't built to accomodate Amazons.
There's disputing her vigor and beauty. Her size is working against her at this stage. If I cull her, I'll take a clone so I don't lose the genetics until I've sampled the produce.
Whew! We made it.
I pulled everyone out for pictures, but also so I could reset the shelf
again!
Tomorrow Malawi may get upcanned, which will open up a small space for someone else.
The plants have èxploded the space. Lol! I shifted the lights one rung towards the front of the shelf and made use of the floor space.
Checking on the clones.
Candy Cane 3.1 (Day 14)
Chem Dawg 1.1 (Day 2)
Carnival 4.4 (Day 12)
Checked and inflated. This was when the bell went off in my head that Candy Cane 3.1 was 2 weeks old, so it was time to check the roots.
YES!!!
My first successful clone in perlite. That was soooo easy.
In two days I'll check the Carnival cutting.
She'll rest here tonight.
I see a small bare spot there for her.
Something has to give in here. Either I start cloning and culling or I start drastically cutting back and letting them regrow, which doesn't sound like a bad idea. I've never tried to keep them so long in veg though. It's got me thinking about the options.
I had an interesting conversation with Hash Hound about the method Clone King uses. He clones and when they get too big he clones the clones and tosses their mothers. In this way he hangs on to the genetics until he's ready to grow one out. This sounds easier than keeping a shelf overloaded with plants that want to conquer the world. Hahaha!
Look at them though.....such a happy crew, aren't they? How can I let any of them go? I'll come up with a plan, but somethings got to give. This shelf became 3'x 4' overnight.
Off to the tents.
