SweetSue's Cannabis Oil Study Hall

Good reasoning KR. The idea of using roots is new to me. We'd been talking about this on my grow journal just today, as a matter of fact. Fuzznutter shared with us her recipe for a pain balm made with roots.

Sue, I hope you don't mind my putting this here!

Root Balm

So first you want to clean the roots. This is the worst part of making the root balm. I've never tried it with soil grows, only with perlite from Hempy buckets, but I imagine they'll clean in similar ways. What I like to do is gently massage the root mass to break it up some and then put it in a trash bag and give it a few gentle shakes to get big chunks of perlite off. Then grab any large chunks of roots that broke off in the trash bag, gently shake off the excess perlite again and set them aside.

Next fill a bin with water and submerge the roots in the water. Swirl them around and the perlite will start separating from the roots. Scoop out and trash the perlite and put any cleaned roots off the to the side in a bowl or something. Gently massage the roots with your fingers and the perlite will separate. Once you've got most of the perlite off the roots, I like to put clean water in the bin and give them one more good rinse. Don't panic if you can't get every last piece of perlite off the roots. It won't hurt anything and will get strained out in the end.

Now grab a knife or scissors and cut the cleaned roots into small-ish pieces. Put the root pieces in a slow cooker and add 1 to 2 cups of coconut oil per plant (depending on how large the root mass was). Add enough water to cover the roots. Cook this on low for 2 to 4 days, adding water as necessary if too much evaporates off.

Now would be a good time to mention the smell. It's...sort of earthy and mushroom-ish. It's not the most appealing scent, but whatever you do, be careful about trying to cover the scent up by adding essential oils or anything. I tried that once with lavender before I jarred. It smelled horrible! I made a mildly unpleasant thing MUCH worse.

Ok. So you've cooked it for a few days on low. Now you're going to strain out the plant roots. You can juice them to get all the goodies out or just squeeze them well and throw them away. Take the oil/water mix and pour it into a large bowl. Place the bowl in the refrigerator or freezer until the oil sets. You can then poke a couple holes in the oil and pour the water off.

Now I like to melt the oil again over low heat to evaporate out any remaining water and then strain through cheesecloth into a glass jar. You can freeze or refrigerate this and it will store for quite some time. I have some in the refrigerator that's at least 2 years old and still effective. So long as it doesn't smell like the oil has gone rancid, you're golden.

I wish I could give credit to whomever I learned this from, but it's been so long, I just don't remember anymore. :(

I just came across this great article on Transdermal and Oral Cannabis use. It has some fantastic info (much of which should already be familiar to those that have been following this journal!) and, based on it, I'm going to try adding the Magnesium oil to my next batch of the pain cream:

Transdermal and Oral Cannabis

Although medical marijuana is nontoxic, smoking it can be hazardous over the long term because toxic compounds are created in the combustion process. Fortunately there are options for the administration of cannabis but in general all different ways of administrating hemp oil or raw marijuana can be combined with no harmful side effects. Also there are vaporizers that allow for inhalation or what amounts to transdermal treatments into the lungs without burning the marijuana. It’s a cool clean smoke of powerful medicine.

Smoking marijuana has limited medical value when used exclusively, especially when it is inhaled through burning. It can reduce blood sugar; it can also help reduce ocular pressure for people with glaucoma. Most people know of marijuana’s ability to reduce nausea, and smoking marijuana will often reduce the pain associated with many medical conditions. Smoking “grass” does make a person relax, which in itself can be quite beneficial. Smoking does help reduce the symptoms of many conditions but in general it does not work on a curative level like oral consumption does.

Rick Simpson, the most courageous medical marijuana expert of them all, says, “Smoking is the least effective method of using hemp as a medicine. The power of hemp medicine is magnified many times when the concentrated essential oil of the hemp plant is produced. If you want to see the real medicinal magic in the hemp plant, start ingesting high-grade hemp oil. When one starts ingesting the raw, unburned THC and its associated cannabinoids, medical miracles often occur. When a person smokes a joint, over 90% of the medicinal aspect of the plant material goes up in smoke. It’s ironic to see people who have taken chemotherapy smoke hemp to reduce their nausea. They are smoking the very substance that, if taken properly, could cure them.”

Cannabis, or marijuana, has been utilized as an ingredient in food and drink for thousands of years. Recipes were often recorded in rhyme, assisting in the memorization process. One such recipe, Bhang (a milk-based drink), dates back to 800 B.C. when it was first concocted in India. The Chinese use of cannabis as a staple food source—for both humans and animals—dates back to the 7th century B.C. Gathered for their exceptional nutritional value, cannabis seeds provided an exceptional source of protein and nutrients.

Oral Cannabis

When we ingest marijuana it is absorbed via the intestines and then passes through the liver, which processes the THC into a byproduct called 11-hydroxy-THC, which then travels to the bloodstream and then on to our brains. 11-hydroxy THC is thought to be four to five times more potent than regular THC. This is one reason why edibles are known to be more potent when compared to inhaled cannabis. Edibles are also thought to be strong sedatives and many patients use them for treatment of insomnia.

Marijuana taken in edible form usually takes from 40 minutes to one hour to start working and the peak effect is at two hours. The effects last though from six to eight hours, which is very convenient for those patients who want to sleep or have longer control of pain.

The key to proper use of oral marijuana is to know how much to eat so as to get the best medicinal effect without taking too much. The general rule is, if you buy an edible product from a registered marijuana dispensary, cut the edible product into four pieces and eat one piece to start. Wait at least one hour. If you feel braver start with half! If you feel the effects of the medication, do not eat any more. If you do not feel the effects of the medication, you can eat another piece. There have been patients who unknowingly have ingested too much and have felt “too high,” nausea, vomiting, and very groggy, so it’s best to start out slow in the beginning. If you do not feel much at a full dose than try a dose and a half or even two doses.

Transdermal Marijuana

Marijuana is lipophilic, which means that it can be dissolved into a fat-soluble substance and readily enter cell membranes. In other words, it can be effective when applied topically on the skin. Marijuana can be used transdermally to relieve pain from many conditions. Medical marijuana can be a balm, lotion, ointment or rubbing alcohol solution. In the old days when people only had plants to use for medication, many patients would soak marijuana leaves in alcohol and apply them as a poultice to an arthritic or swollen joint.

Many substances pass easily through the skin and that is why transdermal medicine has been more evident in contemporary medicine. When it comes to marijuana’s anti-inflammatory effect people have long experienced this in action when they have applied marijuana to their skin. Patients with arthritis, muscle and joint pain can testify to the easing of the aches and pains that they feel on a regular basis. Topical marijuana preparations usually provide only local relief and do not have effect on the brain, meaning there is usually no high. This is helpful for those times when marijuana use is inappropriate (like when you have to drive your car) and you still need pain relief! Topical preparations can be purchased or made at home.

Transdermal medicine is ideal for pain management as well as sports and pediatric medicine. In fact it is one of the best ways to administer medicines quickly and effectively. Transdermal methods of delivery are widely used because they allow the absorption of medicine directly through the skin. Gels, emulsion creams, sprays and lip balm stick applicators are easy to use and are effective in getting medicine into the bloodstream quickly.

Traditional methods of administering medicine such as tablets or capsules get watered down and become much less effective due to stomach acids and digestive enzymes before they eventually get into the bloodstream. Bypassing the stomach and liver means a much greater percentage of the active ingredient goes straight into the bloodstream where it’s needed. In many cases, transdermal methods are used to help avoid potential side effects such as stomach upset or drowsiness. The full potential for transdermal medicine has not been explored by modern medicine though it has been practiced for thousands of years in hot springs around the world.

Of course the use of magnesium oil for these same effects is also recommended and using topical magnesium and marijuana together in combination is excellent for difficult, stubborn pain. One of the main points for everyone to understand is that when we are thrust back to simpler lives, having access to versatile medicines without cost is important. If the governments would get off their people’s backs, marijuana would be legal and virtually free because it’s so easily grown.

It is highly regrettable that the deficiency of such an inexpensive, low-toxicity nutrient like magnesium results in diseases that cause incalculable suffering and expense throughout the world. - Dr. Steven Johnson

Bottom line, when it comes to pain medications that work on the source of pain and disease, there is nothing like magnesium chloride and nothing like cannabinoid medicine. Together they are the Batman and Robin superhero medical team for the world of pain, heavy emotional upset, and the general treatment of disease. Add sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) and iodine and you already have a full medical team at your fingertips.

Hemp Salves and Oils Offer Potent Solutions

One hospital pathologist cut his finger during an autopsy; bacteria resistant to antibiotics infected the wound and it seemed that an amputation was going to be inevitable. Then someone had the idea to ask Prof. Kabelik, who was known for his research on the medicinal use of cannabis, for help. He applied his hemp salve and two days later the wound was already healing and the amputation was avoided.

A Seattle company is reportedly developing a medical marijuana patch for pets, calling it a “question of quality of life.” Jim Alekson’s Medical Marijuana Delivery Systems, LLC has patented the patch, called Tetracan, and says it could be used on dogs, cats, and even horses. The patch would be available for human use as well. According to Alekson, “Dogs suffer from the same maladies that humans do,” and pets can suffer greatly from pain—everything from arthritis to cancer. He said that harsh pharmaceutical painkillers have proven harmful, sometimes fatal to animals.

In California an adult may grow, buy and smoke marijuana, all while remaining safely within the confines of state law. Dr. William Courtney tells his patients “Don’t smoke the stuff. Eat it!” It won’t get you high eaten raw, and juiced with a handful of carrots to cut the bitter taste, its leaves and buds may well offer an important contribution to getting people well.

Courtney juices carrots to cut the harsh taste of the ingredients largely absent in the psychotropic variety of cannabis. Karl Vick for The Washington Post

Kristen Peskuski summarized her return to near-full health—including debilitating lupus, interstitial cystitis, rheumatoid arthritis and 40 medications a day—after juicing fresh pot leaves over a 30-month period.

Courtney’s approach promotes marijuana as a good-for-you vegetable like spinach
.

Raw bud has a high concentration of cannabinoids and is excellent for consumption. When consumed, raw marijuana generally does not make a person high. The main psychoactive compound in dried, aged cannabis is delta-9 THC, which is absent in the raw, fresh leaf. However, the other compounds, such as the terpenes, may have an effect on mood or energy levels. Raw leaf contains mainly THC acid (not THC) unless you are using a strain that is much higher in CBD. In that case, you will be getting some CBD from the leaf. Leaves are picked from a plant that is about three months of age. Buds should be at the state where the trichomes are fully present but not yet amber (i.e. cloudy).

Some of the benefits of raw cannabis include:

Immune modulatingAnti-diabetic
Anti-inflammatoryNeuroprotective
AntioxidantAntispasmodic
Anti-tumor/anti-cancerAnti-anxiety
Bone stimulationAntibacterial
Pain-relieving

What are the “active” ingredients in raw cannabis if there is no delta-9 THC?

TerpenesCannabigerol (CBG)
FlavonoidsCannabidivarin (CBDV)
PhytocannabinoidsCannabichromene (CBC)
Cannabinol (CBN)CBD Acid
Cannabidiol (CBD)THC Acid
Cannabigerol (CBG)

There are more than 525 molecules found in raw cannabis, some with synergistic effects. According to Dr. Courtney it takes about 4-8 weeks before full clinical benefit is reached. It takes that long to fully saturate the fat tissue with phyto-cannabinoids. Phyto-cannabinoids are fat molecules that are stored in the adipose or fat tissue similar to the fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K. It appears that a wheat grass juicer is probably the best method of breaking up the cannabis plant cells. Mix with a minimal amount of organic fruit or vegetable juice—just enough to cut the bitter taste of the raw cannabis. Choose lower sugar juices to minimize your ingestion of simple sugars. Store leaves in a green bag in the refrigerator; do not rinse until immediately before using. Dr. Courtney recommends soaking leaves in water for five minutes before juicing.

Use organic cannabis that does not have any pesticides applied at any point in its life cycle. Dr. Courtney recommends using ten large fan leaves per day in juice, salsa, pesto, salad, etc. If you have access to fresh bud, he recommends one bud/day.

Cannabinoids and THCA are cleared rapidly from the blood, so frequent consumption of a small amount of juice is ideal. Split the juice into five parts for five divided doses per day.

Great information K. :high-five: What proportion of magnesium do you think would be called for?

I just came across this great article on Transdermal and Oral Cannabis use. It has some fantastic info (much of which should already be familiar to those that have been following this journal!) and, based on it, I'm going to try adding the Magnesium oil to my next batch of the pain cream:

:Namaste:

Great information! I have been using magnesium chloride oil as a spray on for cramps for a few months now. Works well. So do you think I should mix it with my topical CCO pain roll on to enhance it?

Great information K. :high-five: What proportion of magnesium do you think would be called for?

Here's some info on Magnesium oil....Note the section in RED:

Interesting Fact: Magnesium oil is actually not an oil, but instead is a high-density solution of concentrated magnesium chloride (33%) and trace minerals suspended in pure water. The texture of this mineral-saturated solution is slippery and often is described as “oil-like.” This health-giving solution thereby aptly is called “magnesium oil.” This solution is excellent for use directly upon skin because transdermal application offers a safe and effective means to raise and replenish magnesium levels in the body.

Directions for Use

IN A BATH: For transdermal magnesium supplementation and relief of aches, pain, soreness and stress, we recommend you put 4–8 tablespoons (2–4 ounces) or more of Ancient Minerals Magnesium Oil in the bathtub or foot bath, and then soak for a minimum of 20 minutes. We recommend soaking in your magnesium bath on a regular basis for best supplementation. While 2 ounces is a desirable starting level, higher doses (4–16 ounces) used in a bath may produce better results. While you may use the spray pump (16 pumps equals approx. 200 mg of elemental magnesium), for baths and footbaths it may be easier to uncap the bottle and pour the magnesium oil either into a measuring cup or directly into bath water.

ON YOUR SKIN: You can also rub magnesium oil directly onto your skin and into sore muscles. Start with palm-sized amount (1 oz) per day (in a single application or divided applications) and then adjust your dosage as needed. Again, for transdermal magnesium supplementation, we recommend daily usage (or at least until the magnesium levels in the body fully are restored). If using the spray pump, try using 8 pumps for your upper body and 8 pumps for your lower body. Eight pumps (1/4 teaspoon) provide about 100 mg of elemental magnesium.

Individuals vary in their requirements for supplemental magnesium due to biochemical individuality. Therefore, we suggest starting with up to 1 oz per day (for full-strength topical application) and increasing the amount applied until you discover the dosage that best suits your body’s needs. After 30 to 45 days of daily usage, or after cellular magnesium levels are restored or attain a high level, you may find that you can apply it less frequently, perhaps 2–4 times per week (or whenever necessary).

Try adding magnesium oil to your favorite skin lotion. Some individuals report favorable results (and less skin irritation) when using magnesium oil in a lotion. An excellent body lotion may be made using 1/3 magnesium oil, 1/3 organic coconut oil, and 1/3 organic aloe vera gel (whole leaf). Mix these in equal parts into a shaker bottle. Shake well. Apply liberally to skin whenever desired.

COMPOSITION: Pure water, high-purity magnesium chloride and trace minerals extracted from deposits in the ancient Zechstein seabed in Europe. The Zechstein seabed is a pristine source of magnesium, and has been protected deep beneath the earth for 250 million years. One (1) fluid ounce contains approximately 21 grams of magnesium chloride and numerous trace elements from ancient seawater.

What is Magnesium Oil Used For?

Ancient Minerals Magnesium Oil is designed to be applied directly to the skin surface, enabling the body to absorb as much magnesium as it may require. Unlike oral magnesium supplementation, which is characterized by certain limits on the rate and amount of uptake and assimilation, magnesium topically applied directly on skin can rapidly and effectively raise tissue and cellular levels of magnesium. Topical application of magnesium oil simultaneously provides energy and relaxes muscles. This means you will be primed for peak performance, being relaxed and energized. You also will likely experience deeper, more restful sleep, and awaken surprisingly refreshed, ready for a new day.
Benefits Include:

  • INCREASES ENERGY BY GREATER PRODUCTION OF ATP (ADENOSINE TRIPHOSPHATE) IN CELLS
  • RELAXES MUSCLES / REDUCES MUSCLE TENSION

So, now we're shooting for a 5:1 ratio of oil to beeswax and want 1/3 (or 2 parts of the 5:1) to be the Magnesium oil, and, at the same time, don't want to dilute the infused coconut oil.

It seems to me that 2 parts infused coconut oil, 2 parts magnesium oil, 1 part grapeseed oil, and 1 part beeswax should be pretty close to perfect! For a little stronger, increase the infused coconut oil and decrease the grapeseed oil.

Hi CCO Brethren!

In this thread, I have asked for and received the best assistance and information, this thread is like no other because you folks are a group like no other. OK, so I need more help, or at least some opinions or experienced guesses. Lab Rats Unite!

Here we go,

As described earlier in this thread, I have been treating my son (he has Neurofibromatosis or NF1) with CCO CAPS for a few weeks now.

I started his treatments with a 40:1 ratio 4x a day for a week, followed by 30:1 ratio 4x a day for a week, and then progressed to 20:1 ratio 4x a day. He was reacting well to the therapy and was sleeping better with fewer awakenings, and felt much looser and mobile in the mornings. After a few days of consuming 20:1 ratio 4x a day, he started developing a new "thing". A rash started appearing on his neck and face in a location where he had a bad sunburn in his teens. It initially appeared similar to light sunburn, and progressively darkened and eventually progressed into dark red bumps. The bumps appear very similar to what shaving bumps/rash look like, the no so fun razor burn that we can get when being overzealous with a sharp razor. Nothing else in his diet, medicine, or environment has changed. No sun exposure occurred during this time period. I immediately dropped his dose back to the 40:1 ratio 4x a day. The rash has mostly abated since the CCO reduction, but I am hesitant to increase the dosage again, or at minimum increase it more slowly.

Does anyone have any ideas, thoughts or experiences with regrading someone having this reaction to CCO? It was a bit very shocking, but the parent/child thing magnifies the discord.

I couldn't find very much in the Internet regarding this rash thing as a reaction to CCO/RSO or most any other cannabis extraction methods. Perhaps it's not even CCO related, and something else might have just cropped up? Or perhaps it's a Herxheimer reaction. Maybe it's his body ejecting some toxic stuff and the CCO is doing its work? Since people lather CCO into creams and slather it on their skin, and it heals, it can't be allergic reaction right? An allergic reaction was my initial fear, but he can handle and smoke cannabis without negative reaction. I reached the conclusions my first thgouth was dumb, especially since his treatment is taken orally and not applied externally.

I'm just playing armchair Doc here to my son, and it's not for faint-hearted parents I tell you!

I appreciate any and all thoughts on the matter, many thanks.

Keith

(sorry for the long article):Worth Repeating: 1974 Govt. Study Showed THC Shrinks Tumors
By Steve Elliott ~alapoet~ on February 11, 2011 Medical

Welcome to Room 420, where your instructor is Mr. Ron Marczyk and your subjects are wellness, disease prevention, self actualization, and chillin’.

Worth Repeating

By Ron Marczyk, R.N.
Health Education Teacher (Retired)

In 1974 researchers learned that THC, an active chemical in marijuana, shrank or destroyed brain tumors in test mice.
But the Drug Enforcement Administration quickly shut down the study and destroyed its results, which were never replicated — until now.
Here is the study the DEA funded, then tried to destroy and remove from universities across the United States — and the first redo study that proved it correct.

This post is dedicated to our hero, Marc Emery, who is a political prisoner of the DEA, locked up in federal prison for legally selling cannabis seeds from Canada. Stay strong, Marc! You have not been forgotten! You are right and the DEA is wrong! Thanks for having the balls to stand your ground!

We Tokies ask that President Obama pardon this peaceful, non-violent man who tried to help all of humanity with compassion and love.

If you search, you will find many links to versions of this story. It was reported back in May 2000.

Then it went totally under the radar! The New York Times, Washington Post and Los Angeles Times all ignored the story, even though its newsworthiness is indisputable: a benign substance occurring in nature destroys deadly brain tumors.

This is one of the most important stories in the history of the War On Drugs. All Tokies who are down need to know the facts surrounding this “historical medical crime scene.”

This censorship of freedom of information is why we hold the moral high ground in our struggle for cannabis legalization.

You all should be able to explain the main points of this medical coverup by the DEA to all who will listen, to get the vote out and legalize in 2012.

The DEA and other federal agencies had ordered these tumor studies done after hearing erroneous reports of possible immunological problems associated with cannabis smoke. They wanted the report to show evidence that cannabis damages the immune system.

But in 1975, instead of health problems, an apparent medical breakthrough occurred and successful tumor reductions were recorded.

Following this remarkably positive discovery by the Medical College of Virginia, orders were immediately handed down by the DEA and the National Institutes of Health to defund all cannabis/tumor research and reporting.

Millions of Americans who might otherwise be alive today are dead because of these and other DEA orders regarding marijuana.
“In 1983 the Reagan/Bush Administration tried to persuade American universities and researchers to destroy all 1966-76 cannabis research work, including compendiums in libraries,” wrote Jack Herer. “We know that large amounts of information have since disappeared.”

Here is the study the DEA funded — then tried to destroy.

Anticancer Activity of Cannabinoids
Journal of the National Cancer Institute
Purpose of the Study (Hypothesis)
“A preliminary report from this laboratory indicated that the ability of delta-9-THC to interfere with normal cell functions might prove efficacious against neoplasms. This report represents an effort to test various cannabinoids in several in vivo and in vitro tumor systems to determine the kinds of tumors that are sensitive to these compounds and reveal their possible biochemical sites of action(s).

Main Findings of the Study: Effects of Cannabinoids on Murine Tumors
[/FONT]

“Delta-9-THC, delta-8-THC, and cannabinol (CBN) all inhibited primary Lewis lung tumor growth, whereas cannabidiol (CBD) enhanced tumor growth. Oral administration of 25, 50, or 100 mg delta-9-THC/kg… inhibited primary tumor growth 8, 72, and 75 percent respectively, when measured 12 days post tumor inoculation. On day 19, mice given delta-9-THC had a 34 percent reduction in primary tumor size. On day 30, primary tumor size of 76 percent that of controls and only those given 100 mg delta-9-THC/kg had a significant increase in survival time (36 percent).

“These results lend further support to increasing evidence that, in addition to the well-known behavioral effects of delta-9-THC, this agent modifies other cell responses that may have greater biologic significance in that they have antineoplastic activity.”

Researchers at the Medical College of Virginia discovered that cannabis is an incredibly successful herb for reducing many types of tumors, both benign and malignant (cancerous). In 1996 and 2006, the Medical College of Virginia again applied to receive grants for cannabis research and again were turned down by the DEA. They were being punished for being truthful in the past.[

If you have read my first four “Worth Repeating” medical reports on THC reducing cancer rates in lung, breast, head and neck, this 1974 U.S. government report validates what I have reported so far.

Need further supporting evidence? Here’s Part Two of this story.

THC Destroys Incurable Brain Tumors

February 2000: The first THC-cancer study since the 1974 government study cited above shows a possible cure. The study was by Dr. Manuel Guzman, et. al., of Complutense University. By the way, that’s the same Dr. Guzman who carried out the research on my last “Worth Repeating,” “Cannabinoid Therapy Reduces Breast Cancer Tumors.”

Anti-Tumoral Action of Cannabinoids: Involvement of Sustained Cera
mide Accumulation and Extracellular Signal-Regulated Kinase Activation

Source: Nature

Main Finding

“Delta-9 THC, the main active component of marijuana, induces apoptosis of transformed neural cells in culture. Here, we show that intratumoral administration of delta-9-THC and the synthetic cannabinoid agonist WIN-55,212-2 induced a considerable regression of malignant gliomas in Wistar rats and in mice deficient in recombination activating gene 2. Cannabinoid treatment did not produce any substantial neurotoxic effect in the conditions used. Experiments with two subclones of C6 glioma cells in culture showed that cannabinoids signal apoptosis by a pathway involving cannabinoid receptors, sustained ceramide accumulation and Raf1/extracellular signal-regulated kinase activation. These results may provide the basis for a new therapeutic approach for the treatment of malignant gliomas.”

The Madrid researchers reported in the March issue of Nature Medicine that they injected the brains of 45 rats with cancer cells, producing tumors whose presence they confirmed through magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). On the 12th day they injected 15 of the rats with THC and 15 with Win-55,212-2, a synthetic compound similar to THC. “All the rats left untreated uniformly died 12-18 days after glioma (brain cancer) cell inoculation… Cannabinoid (THC)-treated rats survived significantly longer than control rats. THC admininstration was ineffective in three rats, which died by days 16-18. Nine of the THC-treated rats surpassed the time of death of untreated rats, and survived up to 19-35 days. Moreover, the tumor was completely eradicated in three of the treated rats.”

Dr. Guzman is the one who knew the truth about the government study and provided the title of the work — “Antineoplastic Activity of Cannabinoids,” which appeared in a 1975 Journal of the National Cancer Institute — that the government tried to destroy.

Dr. Manuel Guzman

Guzman’s investigation is the only time since the 1974 Virginia study that THC has been administered to live tumor-bearing animals. (The Spanish researchers cite a 1998 study in which cannabinoids inhibited breast cancer cell proliferation, but that was a “petri dish” experiment that didn’t involve live subjects.)

In an email interview for this story, Dr. Guzman said he had heard of the 1974 Virginia study, but had never been able to locate literature on it. Hence, the Nature Medicine article characterizes the new study as the first on tumor-laden animals and doesn’t cite the 1974 Virginia investigation.

“I am aware of the existence of that research,” Guzman said. “In fact, I have attempted many times to obtain the journal article on the original investigation by these people, but it has proven impossible.”

The real hero here is Jack Herer, who broke the story in his famous book The Emperor Wears No Clothes.

President Richard Nixon declared war on marijuana because he figured most of his political enemies used it.

The DEA’s original, real mission was to silence and intimidate anti-war protesters’ free expression of speech — as guaranteed in our Bill of Rights — against the Vietnam War under President Richard Nixon. (See “Richard Nixon’s Vengeful War on Marijuana,” AlterNet.)

Nixon reasoned that many on the Left used cannabis, and by locking them up, this would shut down the anti-war movement. The DEA was formed by Nixon to attack his domestic political enemies. This is still the case today.

The DEA’s reason for being is anti-freedom, anti-Bill of Rights and anti-human. The DEA should be defunded and disbanded, and the resources redirected to cancer medical research and hard drug treatment. See the recent Toke of the Town story, “Cannabis Advocates To GOP: Why Not Cut The DEA Budget?

The DEA destroyed a publicly funded medical report because its stunning and groundbreaking finding didn’t agree with their political views — then or now. It didn’t matter that a window opened for a possible cancer cure using cannabis. They tried to censor and wipe out the free flow of medical knowledge. This is the equivalent of burning a heretical book and its ideas, because it proves you wrong. “There is nothing more frightening than ignorance in action.”

We, the people of the USA have lost 37 years of medical research in the fight against cancer. If, in years to come, THC is proven as an effective cure for any form of cancer, the individuals involved in covering that up, in my opinion, should be tried as war criminals due to the fact that this was done as an action in the War On Drugs.

“If it turns out… that cannabis is the cure for cancer and the government suppressed this information for 25 years (and continues to suppress it), then the body count alone will make this the biggest holocaust in recorded history,” wrote Raymond Cushing, author of the AlterNet background story linked above. “Virtually all federal drug policy makers of both parties since 1975 — including legislators, presidents and the DEA — will be complicit and criminally liable.”

YES!!!! Cannabis has been shown to be effective in shrinking BOTH malignant and benign tumors!
(sorry for the long article):

Thank you for sharing this. I appreciate it. She's going to have a consultation with one our friends since he's using cannabis oil for his daughter for epilepsy and I will tell her to join this group too. There are lot of information and great people here. This is a great support group and she'll be happy to join. Thank you

hi
In your pain creme with cco..try adding a bit of turmeric. Or make a tee with a table spoon of it in your green tea ( turmeric needs to be simmered 5- ish minutes)
Helped my back pain.. I don't have CCO creme yet..so I can't test it.

Hi Keith, Not sure if my sister's case is like yours but I'm reaching out to everyone that I could get help with. My sister has desmoid (benign) tumor and it's aggressive one. they just grow and she already had one surgery and came back again. I was wondering if deal with this type of rare tumor and if cannabis oil helps?. Doctor suggested Chemo but I'm looking for other options for her. Thank you so much

Hi Alno,

Sorry to hear of your sisters Fibromatosis, desmoid tumors are usually in the soft connective tissues. I'm not a Doc, and feel strange offering any advice, but that's ultimately why we are here in this forum right?

Is your sisters tumor in the abdomen, or in a limb?

Treatments of Chemo are indicated since post surgical tumor growth has occurred. There are so many individual factors to consider in treating with Chemotherapy, but MY experiences have been less than satisfactory with Chemo and radiation. If she is willing and desires alternate therapy, I would read and digest Cajuncelts thread concerning CCO. This thread by SweetSue has some wonderful additions and guidance in the production and dosing of CCO. My son is benefiting from CCO greatly. Nothing is without risk, but it seems to be one of the safest medicinal treatments in light of Radiation and Chemo.

Any help at all? PLEASE ask more questions! The folks in this forum rock. As Sue eloquently states, we are all guinea pigs in this laboratory!

Thank you so much for your respond, I appreciate it. The tumor is located on her upper back close to her ribs but hurts a lot. She's hopping that cannabis oil can treat or maybe at least shrink the tumor. It's rare kind so that's why I'm reaching out to everyone and find answers. This is a great group with lots of information. Thank you and I'm glad that it's responding to your son"s situation.

Please don't ever think you'll look stupid by asking any question. We're hear to offer answers, not attitudes, unless the attitude is one of love and caring as we seek the answers that will help you find healing for your sister. :hugs:

Yes, CCO is what we call Concentrated Cannabis Oil. This is to distinguish it from other infused oils we also produce.
