SweetSue's Cannabis Oil Study Hall

Is she making it herself? Was it made from cultivated cannabis or industrial hemp? Just curious. I know they can isolate the cannabinoids, but I'd be surprised if they could pull THC out of the mix. To qualify for hemp it has to have no more than 3% THC, so some Colorado producers have been harvesting early, before THC had developed past that threshold. Maybe this is what she's doing.

Was it tested?
I pulled the flyer from my car

It's industrial hemp. I read that it can have any number of crap in it.

Maybe I can make some and sell it.... interesting thought.

I don't see any test data on the site beside what they say is in it % wise

This is what prohibition perpetuates. There's no decent quality control, and no one knows for sure what they're getting unless they grow it themselves and have it tested on their own. At least when you grow your own you can make personal medicine and control cultivation. You won't pollute your own plant. You have no idea when you buy what you really paid for, do you?

Agree

I wish I had a flock of peeps to help like u Sue

I have so much weed and oil...and it will grow exponentially very soon...lol...

I may look into the law's here...now I'm curious indeed

I am thinking we should all email Sen. McCain with our best wishes, and links to your favorite Cannabis treatment tread/ article. They said the family was looking into all treatments. :circle-of-love::peace:

I'm thinking he should have a link to Cajun's thread, don't you?

Stop for a moment and imagine the ruckus that'd ensue if a conservative senator in a legal state eliminated cancer from his brain with CCO. How quiet do you think he'd be? It confuses me when highly educated people don't make that the first choice.

A question for you oilers.

As you may know, I buy my CCO from a retail dispensary. So, I have no control over quality, concentration, etc.

Today I was mixing up some oil for my wife's Bio Bombs and I was using two 1 gram syringes of the "RSO" oil I buy.

Typically I set the syringes in a bowl of hot water for a few minutes to loosen them up a bit. When I went to squirt them into my mixing container, one of them squirted out easily...not quite fully liquid, but almost... and it subsequently mixed with the EVOO and LL easily.

But the other syringe was thick and I could barely squeeze it out. Finally in desperation I gave it 3 seconds in the microwave, and I was finally able to eject the oil. The consistency was very thick, and I had to use all my strength to squeeze the syringe. It did not mix easily, and I spent at least an hour smooshing the oil to mix it with the other ingredients.

So, my questions are:
Does CCO vary in viscosity?
WHY?
How is the viscosity significant?
Would viscosity change with the age of the oil?

I finally got it mixed and its resting in the fridge.

Thanks

A further question for you oil gurus.

Up to now, my wife has been using Bio bombs twice a day..shoved, not swallowed.

We have been slowly lowering the concentration and are now at 15:1. I just mixed up another batch at 15:1 so the will last for another 15 days.

As another method of lowering the concentration, is it a good idea to just shove ONE bio bomb a day? Is there a benefit to taking two a day?

Thanks

Peter

Have you tried them orally? The dose is low enough she may tolerate it and it can be a nicer effect through the gut if you can get dosing down.

The benefit to two a day is to keep a more consistent level of cannabinoids in the system. However, there are many clinical reports of effective dosing once a day, so it's certainly worth a try.

Yes, viscosity varies, but I can't explain why. Hopefully someone with more experience can chime in. I also don't have enough experience with aged oils, since mine get used up fairly quickly. I don't see properly stored oils thickening up. I have one partial syringe that's got to be at least a year old and it hasn't changed in viscosity, but that's my only experience.

I'd think the only thing viscosity would effect is ease of handling.

With a thick oil like that a small bit of alcohol can be used to make it easier to handle.

I somehow accidentally decarbed twice the amount of cannabis yesterday. So instead of doing two batches I used stoner logic and made it work. 8oz of indica trim and random lesser quality phenos of bud. (That's how I know what I don't like, the jar stays full over time lol). 4cups+4oz coconut oil. One MBM. It took some finagling and starting and restarting. But I got it done :slide:

Definitely not recommended although I got lucky and didn't blow up the machine lmao. What I ended up with is deadly.

Ooooeeee...... That sounds like my type of capsules. :laughtwo: Too bad we aren't neighbors.

Oh look! A use for all those leaves I've been freezing. How long did you run the MBM?

The standard 2 hours Sue. Though I had to cycle the blades five times just to get the machine to close all the way. Like I said not recommended lol. I was just already blazed and said screw it we are fitting 8oz in this thing.
I have a weedover this morning lmao. It's kinda nice. 4 00 caps yesterday. I think the oven method was good. Next time I will poke a hole in the mason jar and put my temp probe in the jar itself. This time I did 35 min at 250F (added on 5 min to account for jar and contents to heat up).

But you must know I am liking the caps if I just made that big of a batch.

Probably older oil that needs a little solvent to redisolve the crystalization that has started. Just a guess. BUT, I would stay away from the microwave. At least you kept it very short but still.... Next time heat it in hoter water for longer. And it could be just a bit in the tip that needs to break loose. Not being there it's hard to speculate.

I knew you would Shiggity. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Well, I screwed that up... After giving my mixed oil 2 X 24 hrs in the fridge I set up to fill the capsules.

When I went to put the tops on, many of them broke and I spread oil all over the place!

I think my mixture might have been too warm and it melted the caps.

I have recovered much of the oil and I'm gonna try to encapsulate what's left... we'll see.
