SweetSue's Cannabis Oil Study Hall

Hi Sue,

Brownie Bombs
Eight grams were bagged and decarbed for about 90 minutes at 230F then I added it to 230 oil and lechithin for about 45 minutes. The mix went into the freezer until it went solid for a few minutes. It was then reheated to about 90 or 100 for use. The plant material was rather fine, so I left it in the oil.

The weed that I used was from a hard luck MK Ultra plant. It was in a wine barrel that I forgot to drill drain holes in. (Me dumb shit.) And, the flower room only had the original two LED lights for all except a few days at the end. The result was 110 grams of frosty popcorn that I striped off and crushed. My best guess would around 15% THC.

Last night I tried one after I had been smoking and vaping most of the day. I was feeling mildly edgy and a little fried before eating the slice. After about 20 minutes I noticed that the off felling was gone. I was not felling especially stoned, just more calm and peaceful. It got a little more pronounced after a while. I turned in for the night and slept rather well.

This morning I started the day with a slice and I noticed mild effects after about half an hour. At about 90 min, I could say I was moderately stoned.

So...., one more...... and more coffee? Er well, OK. (I forgot the Kool-Aid)

That one was gone about two hours ago. Within ten min the extra had my eyes open a little wider. Now I am enjoying a very calming high.

The crushed popcorn is what I have been vaping for a while. There is a good bit of it left. I want to try a long decarb on some of it and compare it bag for bag from the vaping appliance that looks like a volcano.

I feel a little silly walking around with the plastic bags. Though my wife says she likes them because she knows where I am because of the crinkle noise they make.

Enjoy the holidays

Cooking butter... waiting for it to cool. Hubby is loving the cookies I make, makes him in a happy bliss and that makes me happy too.

Tomorrow I will make cookies.
300gr butter and 57 gr weed. ( buds only) Let's see how much butter I will end up with.

Or maybe I will make brownies this time?? I do LOVE Chocolate.,,

It looks like the link didn't work. Try this one instead:

Never mind. It's still not working and I don't know why. Maybe copy and paste the link into your browser instead.

It has www at the beginning of the link but when I try to post it not as a link, it automatically turns it into a link. The blog is called www.the--------.com. Search mangoes once you're there and it should be the first article that comes up.

I read a blog a while ago that talked about how mangoes can increase the strength of cannabis. I just went looking for the article so you can see if the mangoes could be what's causing the change for you:

The link isn't working because apparently, I'm not allowed to post to other cannabis-related websites but since I do think it's a good and relevant article, I'm hoping that posting it here is okay since it's related to what we were talking about:

Mangoes Increase, Strengthen, And Even Lengthen The Euphoric Feelings Felt After Smoking Marijuana

By Big Buddha
Summary: The chemical compounds that have been found within mangoes have been discovered by science to be able to increase, strengthen, and even lengthen the euphoric feelings felt after smoking marijuana. This is great news for the marijuana community for both recreational smokers and medicinal smokers as they both now have a healthy alternative snack to turn towards during their munchies.

Lately it seems that both the science community and the marijuana community have been falling into the same category. This is great news for both medical marijuana patients and recreational marijuana smokers alike! Of course it’s common knowledge that medical marijuana does exist and that it is a great natural remedy for aches, pains, and various ailments. And of course recreational marijuana smokers do enjoy the euphoric feelings of the herbal supplement as opposed to the feelings of intoxication caused by alcohol or liquor. So naturally marijuana is a safe alternative to most sinful pleasures as well it is a perfect organic solution to the stresses and pains of life. So here is a little secret that the science community has recently discovered for the marijuana community: Eating fresh mangoes or even drinking a fresh mango smoothie one hour prior to smoking will dramatically increase the euphoric feelings felt by marijuana and help medical marijuana patients to ease their pain even more so.

This is because a chemical compound known as myrcene terpenes, which is most often used for fragrances, can be found within cannabis and marijuana as well as many other various plants such as lemon grass, hops, and of course mangoes. This is why these types of plants of such rare and unique types of odors and aromas. Once ingested the chemical compound, or myrcene terpenes, assists the psychoactive substance THC by allowing it to pass through the Blood Brain Barrier (BBB) at much faster speeds with much more efficiency. The time it takes for the THC to have an effect on the brain after inhalation is roughly seven seconds however, by eating a mango up to one hour prior to smoking the time it takes for THC to reach the brain and have an effect could be cut in half. As well as the length of the high and its time duration could be up to twice as long.

Individuals who have eaten a mango, digested it, and then smoked have also noted that the euphoric feelings felt by marijuana are alarmingly much more intense. This is perfect for medical marijuana patients who would like an increased amount of pain relief or for recreational marijuana smokers who just want to get even higher than before. It is important to also note the different speeds in metabolism for those who are attempting to try this experiment. This is because individuals who have faster metabolisms may need to ingest a bit more than those who do not have as fast of a metabolism as well as individuals with slower metabolisms may need to ingest a mango or mango smoothie up to an hour and a half prior to smoking. This will help ensure that the myrcene terpenes found within mangoes have been properly digested and will have an effect.

What else is great about this interesting scientific fact is eating mangoes is another great way for the human body to receive additional amounts of vitamins and nutrition and it helps individuals avoid eating foods that are high in cholesterol or trans fats. Eating too many fatty foods when the ‘munchies’ occur can be harmful and even detrimental to an individual’s health. So be sure to stay healthy and to eat healthy whether smoking marijuana recreationally or medicinally.

I wonder if it is the sugar in mangos that acts as a catalyst to deliver the cannabinoids to the bloodstream faster? Ever notice that sweet edibles are more potent than just sprinkling the herb on food?

I'm moving this to the beginning of the thread as I don't know if Sue has seen FP's decarb testing post and since I'm the one who told him about it, I kind of feel like I should make sure it's noticed. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Hello SweetSue et al,

Being a sceptic, I decided to try an experiment here at home that would or wouldn't give weight to your discovery.

I grew Hash Plant last summer and the crop was large enough to allow for some experimentation. So last weekend I took the rice cooker, cheese cloth, isopropyl alcohol and 20 odd grams of dried and cured Hash Plant out to the shed. After boiling and cooling I ended up with 3grams of gooey Hash Plant oil. It was less than I expected, so being my first time making oil, I figured I didn't work it hard enough and that there must be mote trichomes left in the leftover plant material. I went back out to the shed to dry out the plant material.

A friend (HashGirl) had told me about your serendipitous decarboxylation discovery. I thought this post production Hash Plant would be perfect for the experiment. So I divided it into 3 groups. The first was not decarboxylized, though like the other two groups, had been through the hash oil making process, and thus less potent. The second group spent 30 minutes in the oven at between 235 and 240F. The third group stayed in the oven at that temperature for another 63 minutes.

The non-decarboxylated group was a mild enjoyable buzz. It suited me fine but I wanted to test it on a friend who is a more experienced cannabis user. I gave her a small sample of the 30 minute group for her vaporizer, and she caught a small mostly unnoticeable buzz. Then 15 minutes later I gave her the same dose of the 93 minute group. Two quick hits and there was a noticeable buzz going on. This was better than the 30 minute group. We drew this conclusion from her observation of it being better and my observation of her.

This was a simple blind test without the least potent group. I hope we will revisit this experiment over the holidays.

I'd like to get this tested (but don't know how to or how much it would cost) and I'd really like a scientific explanation.

Good work SweetSue and HashGirl. Thanks.

That's one more of us. Anybody else getting as excited as me? I'm finding that it's not only potential in the bud, but it's changing the flavor of the buzz in dramatic ways. This is a whole different type of buzz for me, with both strains, strains I've smoked extensively before this discovery.

I have a difficult time staying away from them too Canyon. :laughtwo: I can't tell you the number of times I've stood out there and rationalized. Lol!

I'm most pleased that you were able to take "meh!" Plant material and make it into something much better by simply increasing decarb time. :hugs: Think of what this means to a struggling cultivator or someone caught in an emergency situation.

It means you can take crappy street drugs and make them into something approaching decent.

No you can't. Forget I said that.

I am soooo pleased to have found this. I apologize for missing you the first time through, and thank you HashGirl for alerting me to this post.

Thank you so much for joining in the spirit of experimentation. Wasn't that fun? Did it get you excited about the potential? I don't have anyone here in my "real life" that I consume with, so no real way to observe the effects.

No doubt about it now. Decarbing for 90 - 110 minutes at 230 - 245 F increases potency.

It'll be interesting to hear B A R's results.

What do you all think is the best way to get this information out there? To our membership, I mean? I haven't been quiet about it, but even I can't be everywhere, though I'm sure you all notice I try. :laughtwo: I was wondering if a new thread dedicated to this information might be the way to go? Maybe inspire a larger block of the membership to experiment and report their results in one place.

There were a couple I missed. Must go to bed. I'll catch up tomorrow.

Merry Christmas my friends.

Community alert: a chance to lend a helping hand

jamesleemc, one of our family here, recently returned home to find that sanctuary violated by thieves. They cleaned him out, including all 14 plants, lights, equipment..... Every one of us reading that shuddered.

He's started a thread asking for any used equipment and supplies that might be able to find their way to him. I'm posting the link, but know that there are no directives other than a desire to help a member hurting in any way you feel compelled to respond. A kind word of encouragement can be every bit as valuable as a ballast when you've been slighted like this in life.

If nothing else, stop and let him know your positive intentions are bolstering him as he waits to see what wonder the universe holds in store for him next. Shall we surprise him? :battingeyelashes:

a small update

The daughter stopped by today to share her thoughts on her protocol. She's noticed quite a few major improvements in her life since beginning the regimine of four capsules a day made with a balanced 1:1 THC:CBD strain. Her mother was deeply heartened by the discussion.

* The most notable change has been the almost complete decrease in anxiety. She says it's still there, but so much less than she's dealt with all of her life that she finds it almost laughable. We recently added in two capsules made with Carnival leaves, figuring it'd give her just a touch of THC beyond what she was getting. We discovered that this addition gave her system something it needed that we were unaware of, because when she stopped taking them anxiety ramped up immediately.

It kinda freaked me out to have such an off-the-wall inclination like "add in these different capsules" and have it be something she obviously needed. Sometimes the inspirations catch me off guard.

She's since gone back to the two additional capsules a day and anxiety dropped right back to manageable levels.

* She no longer gets headaches. This is a woman who bought a large bottle of Excedrin Migraine every month and then hoped it'd last. Migraines used to be a daily event for my baby. This was the norm for over a decade. She hasn't bought a bottle of anything since starting on the capsules. It wasn't until today that she realized she gets no headaches of any kind anymore. :yahoo:

* The chronic pain in her right hip, the residue of a past fall down a flight of stairs, has apparently vanished. She can't remember the last time that inflammation bothered her. The woman weighs over 250 pounds. This is more significant than it sounds on the surface.

* She has a general sense of well-being that she's quickly growing used to. It's been 34 years of extreme anxiety. She revels in the idea that she can hear her body again, and because of that can recognize the building anxiety and counter it with her vaporizer.

cajuncelt, I know you're out there somewhere. Had I not met you and been infected with this passion you ooze out everywhere you roam I wouldn't be reporting all this wonderful news.

Thank you mon ami. I think you know how overwhelming this feels sometimes. It's been a good day. :hugs:

Hi SweetSue,

I don't know who or what B. A. R. is, or what the results might be. I would try to gather more results before taking it to the next level and spreading the word. But when that time comes, starting a new thread with a catchy title like "INCREASE YOUR THC FOR FREE" should get the ball rolling. Looking forward to finding out what BAR is.

Excellent title FeloniousPink! :high-five: I'm busy enlisting the members I know to be high-tolerance consumers. If I can get enough of them to test it on their own and we keep getting the consistent results we're seeing up to now, a thread is definately called for.

I'll tell you Felonious, every time I get ready to consume this longer decarbed cannabis I expect it to be what I'd experienced prior to this adventure. It still seems too good to be true. Then I fire up and get completely blitzed all over again with a much deeper buzz than I was getting before.

It's wild and wonderful, and I'm having a blast testing it out. :laughtwo:

B A R is one of our active members, a previous Member Of The Month and well-loved by all that know him. He's been off on a hiatus lately, just returned this week. He has a penchant for experimentation that may or may not bring him to our group. :laughtwo: B A R has a very busy "real world" life to keep him occupied too. I've requested his help in testing this decarb out.

I just got home from our Holiday weekend.

So it seems for some reason that I have been flagged in my connection with 420magazine. I couldn't get into my email for two days and when I finally did today, every new 420magazine email notification says I am not allowed to view. The entire email, not even the link. Every other type of email is fine.

Has this happened to anyone? My state is legal, but I wonder if federally this is going to be an issue. I'm not thrilled about it.

..........And after getting into those emails, I'm not allowed into my email again now. Actually, I'm pretty freaked out by it, to be honest.

High tolerance consumer? Somehow I read that as Rifleman. :biglaugh: Really need to bake a bud or two. I rarely feel any effects after the first joint of the day. I've been told that I just stay high all day, but I can't tell.

We speak the same language then Mr. McCain. When I said "high tolerance consumer" my brain meant "Rifleman." Lol!

Talking to my daughter the other day, we were discussing how similar I am in lifestyle to my own mother. My daughter and my mother shared a home for many years. My mother walked everywhere, a trait I also share. In the middle of this discussion my daughter turned to me and said

"The biggest difference is that you're high, all the time mom."

Then we both fell over laughing. :laughtwo: I start with the brownies at breakfast and there's no looking back. It sometimes feels like I'm trying to make up for lost time. Haha!

The reality is that my brain functions on a higher plane with enough cannabis of the right strains. Our society hasn't caught up yet to the idea that some of us use cannabis to enhance our brain power. The social message still appears to be that we use cannabis to heal or to relax. I don't use cannabis to relax at all. When I'm consuming it's to get back to this playing field up here where the view is magnificent.

Lucas, cook a couple buds the night before and start the day with that joint. I understand completely how difficult it can be to remember to do this. :laughtwo: I get a different high with the buds than I do with the brownies. The brownies are much better, but the combustible buzz is something special. I'd like your take on it.

Hi SweetSue,

I may have discovered the answer to this decarboxylation conundrum. It is not a question of leaving it in the oven for 90 minutes versus 30 minutes to maximize decarboxylation, but decarboxylating for 60 minutes rather than 30 minutes.

Google this:

herb.co/2014/06/27/decarboxylate-your-weed-for-the-full-psychoactive-effect

So anyone conducting this test should do 30 minutes versus 60 minutes versus 90 minutes in the oven. To simplify, 30 versus 60 should do.

Take a deep breath Sara. :hugs::hugs::hugs: It's nothing but a glitch. Have you contacted one of the mods about it? They'll have you straightened out in no time. If it's not 420 Mag then it's your email carrier. I assure you, it has nothing to do with your affiliation with the magazine or this community.

To some extent we're slaves to the technology.
