SweetLeef's Gone Even More Mas Muy Loco - Perpetual - 4400W TopLED - SuperSoil

First off Sweets, congrats on your harvest. Some weed is better than no weed at all.
Now with the root-bound situation I learned from Relaxed Lester that it really doesn't pose a threat if the roots are healthy. He's had great results in root-bounded small pots which was part of my decision in going strictly 2lts. I don't know much about mites but I do know that gnat larva feed on roots. Adult gnats are really just a nuisance but you have to get rid of them to prevent them from laying eggs/larva in your soil. So if gnat larva is eating at your roots this could be the origin of your issues.

Mind you, this is just one likely scenario & I'm sure other members will give you some more possible diagnoses.

If you think it might be the gnats here's a home remedy that works. I've had 100% success with it.

One quart h2o (I use tap), One cap of Hydrogen Peroxide, & a small drop of liquid Dish detergent > put in a spray bottle > Shake well > Spray the leafs & medium generously once a day for 3 days > Gnats & Larva gone.

Congrats on your harvest buddy, any smoke is better than none & hopefully the quality will make up for the lack of quantity :) I'm sorry I can't offer any help or advice on your bugs, I'm lucky that I never suffer with living beasties.

I gotta ask if your sure its mites

no.

I think it started that way. I saw one in the soil at the beginning of all this, and the house plants upstairs definitely had it. You could see them crawling around on their webbing. The symptoms the plants were showing pointed to nitrogen toxicity or over watering. Both I ruled out because I water slowly and them let them really dry out before watering again. And Nitrogen toxicity because I don't feed my plants anything. They are all is the same super soil.

Thanks BAR, I don't think it's the gnats. The roots all look great. Super white and everything. I don't have a shit ton of gnats either. A few here and there, but nothing like I've seen with actual gnat problems.

It's a weird one.

Thanks Skunny! I hope you never have to. It's not super fun :)

I was wondering cause I had leaves on one plant way back was starting to do that ended up throwing it away but I never had mites only gnats
shitty thing about soil you buy is a lot of them come with extras i.e. bugs

its not the flying ones that cause problems its the larvae in the soil
it was my og kush mom when it was getting closer to harvest it was getting worse when it finally came time to chop I just tossed it in the trash wasn't even worth keeping nothing to salvage
actually its why I stopped with the soil
I guess outside is a bit different cause theres more natural enemies to the pests outside but none inside

yea when you buy soil theres always a huge chance theres hitchhikers in there

Yeah, I just don't see a lot of action. I don't think it's gnats. I could be wrong, as such, I will deploy SNS-203 Soil Drench. Should hopefully take care of anything nasty in the soil.

I use an old recirculating hot air oven to setrilise anything store bought prior to it going into my soil. Just to make sure no evil hitchhikers make it to any of my crops (all species).
Prevention is so much easier than treatment.

I'm sure your diligence will be rewarded in the end :)

Thanks OMe, The oven thing sounds cool, except the soil I buy has myco's and other really good shit in there that would be rendered useless if I put it in the oven. A few gnats is a small price to pay for soil this good and easy to use. I think. :)

It's very true. I've had gnats every grow with this soil and they've never been a problem. I think the soil has a nice balance to it.

I am going to start amassing the ingredients to make my own organic living soil. Hopefully by April or May I will have everything and can mix it up. I will still be running perpetual, I will just be doing so with 7gallon no-till smart pots.

The information is popping up all over the place in this forum COorganics, SoilGirl, SweetSue, Radogast's journals are each a wealth of information, worth looking into. That being said, I will start to post more information about what I am doing and how I will be doing it, as I figure that out :)

I am excited about running the no-till style. It makes a lot of sense and from what I have seen the quality is out of this world.

I have used Monterey Garden Insect Spray with Spinosad and Monterey All Natural 3 in 1 Garden Insect Spray to kill spider mites and Thrips. I add 3-5 drops per gallon of Ivory Liquid Soap as a surfactant to help the spray stick to leaves and stems better. I spray every 3 days alternating the 2 Monterey products for 2 weeks to kill adults and larvae as they hatch. Sierra Natural Sciences also makes 2 products to kill spider mites SNS-217C Concentrate and SNS-209 Systemic Insect Control. I have used the Sierra Natural Science SNS-209 successfully to kill Thrips insects.

Plants are all looking great. I will snap pictures tomorrow! Then we will decide on who to start flowering first. I want to make sure to get a clone growing in soil before I put anyone in flower. I feel these plants have been compromised, and even though a clone would have the memory of the shitty time, I feel it would be another shot for them. I'll probably flower 3-4 at a time since I have 16 GSCxATF going into flower soon, too.

I know for sure the HarleSin will be going into flower. We've been making the paste for a while now, but I just got linked into this cool thread where the guy extracted 39% of RSO out of his original weight. That's enough for me to give it a whirl! HarleSin will stay around as it is reported to have a 3/2 CBD/THC ratio. Not too shabby.

The final four flowers girls have not gotten any worse, I think the tall one will be ready in about a week or so, she had like 2 amber trichs and the rest were all cloudy. The smaller three are still truckin along.

I found a real cool and easy way to build a very DIY steam "oil distiller" using a steamer pot, a glass container, and a "schoolhouse style" lamp cover. Pretty sweet. I'm gonna go try and find a suitable light cover tomorrow as I have everything else. Then I can make my own essential oils for my homemade pesticides. Dope. Here is a picture of what I mean.

That's where we're at today. Things are looking much better around here. Hope all is well in yours :)

Alright folks, let's take a look at some pictures.

Some of the plants still have a few shitty leaves. These are leaves that I would have removed when I potted them up, but because I was potting them up, and removing, on some of them, a lot of leaves, the leaves that were damaged, but not real bad yet stayed. Those leaves are getting worse. However, the unshitty leaves are staying un-shitty for the time being. A couple girls still look rough, and with the exception of the Harlequin and the Peppermint Kush, I think everyone is going to pull through. Let's take a look.

First the GSCxATF

Multi-Strain

Everyone looks a lot better than these pictures let on. I wish my camera/lighting were better. The whole purpose of waiting so long to take pictures was so the girls would look as good as they do and the pictures did not come out. Bummer. I'll just have to try again soon, I guess :)

The Harlequin clone I am very iffy about. She could pull through, but this plant doesn't have a lot of fight in it.
20150128_201550.jpg

Harlequin I think will not make it.
20150128_201517.jpg

These two will make it I believe, unfortunately I am pretty sure the Peppermint Kush is dead. I don't think they liked all of the spraying and carrying on.

That's where were at as of last night.

Flower girls are holding strong, not getting any worse. Seem to be progressing in their flowering duties as well. Glad I didn't cut them all down. I will snap some pictures of them tonight.

I have 9 plants in veg that could me male, I think I will put the HarleSin, 1 of my Strawberry Cough, and the 9 in question into flower and go from there. If they are all girls, that will be really awesome.

In the meantime, I will give the GSCxATF more time in veg. I'm down to just one more batch of seed of them so I want to try and do these girls(hopefully girls) right.

I hope you all have a super dan and green day :high-five:

Glad things are looking up Sweets. As for Harlequin, don't throw in the towel yet. There's still hope. Keep up the good fight.

Thanks Reg, I haven't given up on her yet. I'm just not holding my breath either. I think I can get my hands on another Harlequin if I want. Which, I probably do

Your perseverance is paying off buddy :high-five:

Thanks Skunny! I'm glad it seems to be working out. It's really nice to know you don't need shitty chemicals to get rid of bugs.

Keep up the fight SL!! Sorry to hear about the peppermint kush, so let's hope the other two Amsterdam genetics pull through!! :passitleft:

High Jade! The peppermint such is a bummer, but it;s still in there, I haven't given up on her yet. The other two look better today than yesterday! I think they will be around for a while longer.

Best of luck with this next wave of girls my friend! May your harvest be heavy! :)

Thanks Light! I'm feeling better about the way things are going at the moment. About to put some into flower in a few days. Looking forward to a smoother run :)

Alright, lets take a look at the final 4

Hope your world is nice and green :)
