Ah crap, I did it again :( over watered Fatso there in a big way, definitely too much water in retrospect. I'll be leaving both of these girls alone until they're dried out at this point, they have more than they wanted to drink and need me to give it a rest I reckon. Learning things as I go!

So are'nt we all.

Hope your having a great weekend.
Mind if I jump on the bus?
How are the girls doing today?

Green Crack is as well as can be expected, Fatso needs to dry out after my over watering yesterday oof. Waiting for drier times to come before I bother them anymore.
Do you water to run off?
I find watering around the outside edge to draw the roots out a good way to avoid overwatering.
Outside edge slowly with a turkey baster until the roots develop.
Always getting runoff, give the tap root something to chase.
Just a little trick I do with younger ones.

Bill we are lucky to have you here.

Thank you, yes I'm watering around the outside, but I definitely gave Fatso way too much with some good amount going down the middle too when I think about how she got watered this time; definitely overestimated their needs. I've got some of those chemical wash bottles I can use for this to give them less in a more controlled manner though, so I can use that once they need it again :]

Hey Keith. :ciao:
There a couple things I can be helpful with thank you. :thanks:
But I always say I'm just a friendly beginner. :high-five:
We all pitch in to help each other.
It's always good to get different opinions and views on things.
In the end we all just do our best for our girls with what we have.
Coco is my go to though.
That's where I really have fun. :yahoo:

Great idea. :thumb:
Something that gives you control.

They're doing their best today, despite my drowning efforts. Such reliable plants, thank goodness they can deal with my learning phase at least somewhat 😂

I gave green crack about 300ml of a top water with a chemical wash bottle, it's been a few days and it just looked like time I guess (emphasis on guess). Anyone got some standard watering amounts I can reference while I get the feel for how much water actually belongs in the pot at any given time? I understand about where the water table should be I think, and how it needs to dry out rather deep to cycle, but I don't know how much water actually goes in to moisten things to a specific depth for root growth control.

Welp, more lesson learning time: if I'm not mistaken, these hairs mean Fatso has been forced into flowering in a panic by my over watering. I guess I'm going through the gauntlet in the typical way, having fallen into the over watering trap. I don't really mind making the mistake, but right about now I'm asking myself if either of my plants is really worth waiting for right now, or if I should take the lessons the past couple of weeks have given me, cut my losses and start over with much better conditions from the start. I'll think over it tonight, but I'm leaning towards scrapping and rebuilding.

Edit: my roommate offered to take care of these doomed little things in the windowsill so I have room to start over on my own project. It's great to have nice friends 😊 I'll keep posting about the new ones and some updates on the old ones here.

Following up, I'm kind of indecisive so I'm splitting the difference (plus it turned out I don't have enough soil to plant two more right now, and I'm a bit poor to get more). I put Fatso into windowsill hospice with my roommate for something interesting to do, we'll see what it produces if anything? Green Crack, after thinking about it, is doing fine all things considered and so I won't give up on that one. By the water meter, it looks like it's getting closer to watering time, and I want to see what an actual thirsty plant looks like before I go trying to raise another generation already. My patience is underdeveloped, but I'm looking forward to seeing the benefits of getting over that eventually :]

I'm glad I didn't give up on green crack, she looks nice! Watering time finally came, and I didn't overdo it. She also got her damaged leaves and some completely obscured lower branches pruned, and I've tied down the low branches that remain. Is this where people top or fim their plants? We're a couple of days into week four total. There's... six nodes? So I guess I'd be late after all, but better late than never! I'm gonna eat something and think about everything :]

It's day 26, and it looks like she's fine with the haircut, and I took out the huge fan leaves that were obscuring the lower branches entirely. She got a little top water and looks good I think! Should be saturation time in a few more days, but we'll see. Gonna make sure she finishes what she has first for sure.

I'm trying my best! I got a known stable LUX meter from Amazon and calibrated my phone with Photone to it to get a real idea of my light intensity and the par was too high, like 700 at the top. That and seeing that yellowing faded as the shade increases inward and I knew it was adjustment time. I'm sure I'll have a good time consuming whatever green crack here chooses to give me while I go for round two after this one is grown, with the stuff this plant is teaching me :)
