Strawberry Cough? Yes Please! LOS Grown

IDK how The Rev's method differs from DBHBB, but they do pot dunking which I assume is about the same as filling the trays so they leach from the bottom, but I'm still trying to figure out the "why" for that practice. Does the Rev mention anything to this effect?

As a rough est, I'd say I'm a couple 3-6 months behind you in transition. I'm still in hydro now, but will be is something similar to the DBHBB in a few months and I need to glean from you what I can.
He talks of good watering practices but I don't remember any dunking. There's 3 AACT's too Veg, Flower, and Late flower, The recipes are back in this journal some pages. Other than those that's it. This particular plant has a history of self defoliating after an AACT. When I get her in perfect health again, I want to try one more AACT for science.

My last grow was my first LOS and it went well. Meaning the soil held up through flower with normal 10 day AACT applications. There's plenty of room for improvement but if there never is any I'll be ok with that, they grew so well. You're going to love DBHBB after all your studies in hydro.

Rev actually is a dunker, and that is one of the reasons he likes to use the 3gallon pots. He talked about it in ver. 1 of his TLO book.
If you don't have to adjust pH, dunking works fine and is an effective and quick way to totally saturate the rootball. But then you have to lift it out of that dunking tank (think 10 gallon pot) and carry it back to the grow room. No thank you. I would rather do my zen thing and take 3 hours to water during commercials on TV.

It's not the kit, it's my best to emulate it, but I didn't have the correct ingredients when I amended, so I had to make some executive decisions, lol. I guess I'll know in about a month if I fudged, but I think it'll be at least manageable. It's a learning curve for sure. I'll try to juggle them both for a while to make a smooth transition as I can't afford to miss any of my harvests.

That sounds like a flood and drain system.

Yep being me, I'm on the slow long water too. While i have plenty of time to plot my grow and ogle between salvos of water, I play little games on the phone like solitaire.

The 3 gallon self watering pot is his pot of choice I think. I can see the day it'll be mine too.

I'm excited to watch your work. The foliars to get the anions and cations going right will be an important hill to climb that I think you're either there or almost there. Emilya too. Prediction: This time next year we're going to have bud absolutely dripping in trichomes growing from the most healthy plants. We have much of that now. I'm talking an extraordinary amount. Yes I'm a dreamer. From what I see a realistic one!

Next year, I'll be eager to have months of managing 9 plants in bloom instead of just 3. Being as poor as I am and always have been, it's difficult for me to imagine what kind of return that could be. 9 plants perpetually is about one a week and I can now delve into higher yielding Sativas. I'm so excited to move forward and cazn't wait till I build that room and start filling it up. I need to get a new light too.

I love that kind of talk. Expand and conquer!

Highya SO,

It's been awhile since I posted in your journal. It's fun when you figure something out to make a better grow next time, isn't it? I'm always learning something, and have so much fun with it. Now, I'm learning how to raise an Akita pup nicely, grow 5 ladies in my garden, and make japanese beatle runs (best way to keep them at bay, put them in a jug with soap and water), not to mention the vegetable garden, lol. But, I'm still learning.
I remember seeing a recent pic of your Strawberry Cough, and even though she has been a handful, she looked great. Glad you nailed the watering thing down!! Cheers

So a little update since this mornings gallon.
She's back to praying and making more leaf mass! I'm on this like stink. Like Shed said, this baby's going to want water more often than I care to, I hope and think. Crisis averted. Let's hope for the usual clear sailing from here on and some nice snow covered bud. Still looks like a week to flip.

Must be busy down there. And you must be on vacation, lol. Welcome to the vacation land!

My girls are growing inches a day. They seem to like 80's daytime with high 50's at night. Thanks for thinking about them, lol!! Cheers
You might get some nice coloration with those chilly night time temps. Of course, thats if your plants are prone to that.

We're like brothers from other mothers like that. Getting stuff done and having some fun! Figuring how to get it done better or different all the time. You have your hands full this summer. What's a japanese beetle run? Sunny days

I have a rootbound Candida in a 5 gallon cloth pot that gets watered to runoff every damn morning!

A question I have about them cloth pots is can you bury the whole pot in more soil and the roots grow through the cloth? That would be very helpful if yes because then you can defer all of the root tearing till after harvest.

You can, but the roots that get torn have been air-pruned anyway. The plant I up-canned from a cloth pot came out just fine! It helps to have the right method for getting them out of the old one though.

Shed has a good method to get them changed but I use plastic until the final pot of cloth just for that reason. I'm not in love with the idea of leaving the bag on but I don't know. Might be the way to go but until I try I won't know.
