Stocking Up For The Apocalypse: Goody's Perpetual Grow By The Beach 2020

Where did you get your wedding cake from?
It’s Barney’s Farm (from a non-sponsor supplier)
I'm assuming she's been fed at 5g for one feeding since Friday. It could be another feeding before you see any improvement. Things move slower in soil. If she's greening up she's getting better, and she was lacking lots of nutes that late in life.
She has, and all new growth looks ok and green. The old leaves have the kind of problems that don’t clear up, they are crispy and ugly. Checked my water pH after adding nutes yesterday and it’s around 6.2 and has not fluctuated.
I just don’t know what the issue might be. Is there a possibility there is a lot of potassium in my tap water?
It doesn’t do it with every plant, but I’d love to clear it up before I start a sponsored grow. For now it’s getting by but it’s gonna skid across the finish line lol.

I wouldn't think so. That Island is big enough to have good quality water. Many cities have a water report available online. You can always check around your area for such. Shed get's a very detailed one from his area.

Every plant can behave differently. If the water is the same, the soil is the same, the environment is the same, then it comes down to the nutes or the plant. The PL may have wanted more food from the beginning, a heavy hitter, where the other plants were content at a lower dose. The breeder stated it didn't want much food, but the breeder doesn't live with you, so you need to try and gauge it on what you know and see.

You'll have lots of eyes helping you if you need it so I say you're ready to rock and roll with the sponsor grow show.

The town I live in is only about 700 people, we have a big well/water tank that feeds this area. I know they have a report for water quality, I’ve seen one for arsenic and other things years ago (before I was paying attention) Maybe I will look at that and share if there is anything noteworthy. It’s high Sulphur here, no doubt. Smelly water some days.

Ah, you are in a small town. Funny how the mind can assume things. Sulfur could be an issue but I've never encountered that with anyone before. From what I've read plants like a 15:1 N:S ratio, so there's always the possibility that at certain times certain plants don't like the water.

Well I found it and was hoping it had a lot more info. I guess the individual neighborhoods here have to get tested due to really old pipes, so there’s no report on anything of consequence here:

Your right, not much there.
After doing some more reading I don't think S is the issue

In the plant, S is a component of two amino acids and occurs in protein in a ratio of 1 part S to about 15 parts N. Therefore, the N:S ratio of plant tissue as well as the S concentration are used to identify S deficiency. The lower the S concentration and the higher the N:S ratio the more likely S is deficient in the plant.

Different documents on the toxicity and deficiency of S

Sulfur Toxicity:
Sulfur toxicity is very rare and will most likely not occur even if excessive sulfuric acid is injected to neutralize water alkalinity. High sulfur levels in the growing medium can compete with and induce nitrogen deficiency.

Sulfur Toxicity in Plants
Sulfur toxicity in plants is exceptionally rare and is usually not damaging to plants.

The only time you really need to watch out for too much sulfur is when you are growing in a hydroponic setup. Sometimes, high concentrations of sulfur in this setting can cause an increase in salts.

This can accumulate and cause your plants to become stunted and dark in color (as the result of salt damage). To rectify this, you will just need to flush your system with pure water.

You might also notice that your leaf size is reduced and that the plants appear to have yellow or scorched tips.

It can be tough to differentiate between sulfur toxicity and deficiency in this regard. In most cases, though, sulfur toxicity is next to impossible.

While too much sulfur can prevent other nutrients from being uptaken effectively, it’s highly unlikely that this will occur in your garden.

Identifying Sulfur Deficiency In Plants
Sulfur deficiency results in yellowing of the upper, younger leaves. Leaf veins may appear lighter in color than the surrounding areas of the leaf.

The visual symptoms of a sulfur deficiency are very similar to the chlorosis found in nitrogen deficiency, which can make diagnosis a bit tricky.

To decipher between the two, take note of where the discoloration is occurring.

This Wedding Cake started flowering really early, but it’s showing signs it’s going to go pretty big. 32 days old today.
It’s responding well to the current 4g/G but will get bumped up at her next watering. I really like the look of her right now-

Meanwhile, these 2 are loving the MarsHydro light. BB (23 days old) is training up well, and GTG (17 days old) is a day or so from topping.

Well, my friends, I will soon be starting a little side journal.
Thanks to @SmokeSara and my new light/tent setup, I was able to get in on a grow with one of our seed sponsors. I'll be growing 2 of their auto strains under MarsHydro power.
As soon as the PurpLem is done (about 3 weeks-ish), the BBlack and WCake will move into the 2x3. The remaining 2x2 will house the bagseed GTG, which is most likely a photo seed and will need a different cycle in a few weeks, at least to find out sex.
That will free up the new tent/light for 2 great auto strains, TBA soon.
Life is good here at the beach farm!
can't wait!

Shipping says Nov 17 so should be good timing with this other plant getting done. For now the babies are loving that new light! It runs at a really nice temperature for my grow area, too.

This is the Northern Lights auto that had the REALLY touchy start. She will never get big in this pot, but it’s nice to see her make it after all the troubles getting started. Just starting to show sex and get a bit taller

Yay! I'm glad she survived. A little bit of NL to smoke is better than no NL to smoke.

with a little baby NL in the back.
Leaf issues are only happening on the PL and don’t seem to be worsening. I wish she’d get fatter but this one grows little foxtail pillars of crystal goodness and they are sticky and smelly in all the right ways.

Looks great Goody!! @Bmensi you can follow this journal. Goody's a great guy and he's running a Northern Lights auto which we were talking about the other day.
Well, the NL here is not my proudest moment, but stay for the rest of these ladies. :p Welcome!

I just got another auto clone to root from the wedding cake plant, though it looks like it was a day or so into flower before it took, so it might not do much growing. We shall see, I’m constantly surprised by these plants. Gave it a nice dose of superthrive and if there is a chance it will stay in veg a bit longer, that sometimes helps.

Everyone looking really healthy today. In the new tent, the bagseed GTG was just topped yesterday, and is really looking nice. The Babushka Black hasn’t started turning purple yet but took to the training very nicely and seems to love the light and the feeding schedule. What I thought was slight tip burn is just how the new growth looks for a day on here, then it greens up as it fills out.

The Wedding Cake- what a beauty. Just growing and filling out perfectly. Seems to love life at the moment. Has just over a month left. Running on 5g/G MC and just a pinch of Sweet Candy

Even the Purple Lemonade is moving along without anymore issues at the moment. Has a real nice shade of purple in the right light

Hope everyone is going to have a great weekend. May your gardens be free of the white devil and other things that don’t belong.

They've grown so much! Looking lush, and wee baby NL still in the game, aww! :thumb:
Enjoy your weekend!
