Stinky Snid's Crop King Journal Contest - Northern Lights & White Widow

Keep it coming, man! The training pics are helpful for an amateur like myself, good to see how it's done on small plants.

I find its helpful to start them early on the training before stems get to stiff. Once they get to long and strong they tend to break at the node easily under strain. I've had my share of mishaps, "doing it green" is the term I use to describe it. Cuz once they start the bend near the main node they'll naturally grow bent and therefore already on their way to training camp.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I'll Check your progress in the super cool "doob tube", aerogarden thing. With the hood on it looks like it's a TV. Doesn't it?

One that has a single channel Budporn 24/7. At least it's a live broadcast.. Hoo hah! Till the next episode...

Feb. 23rd, day 29 for the twins and my Leialoha is now 3 weeks old. As these days turn to weeks I look at my girls and think about how much time and effort it taken to get them here. Each of them has their own way of life, watering schedules vary wildly between them. They all have different structure and foliage growth.

Generally speaking this is one hell of a curveball grow, I've been applying everything I learned here. Also drawing from what I learned my previous experience to be able to individually determine when they need and what they need. So here's a big Thank you to all of the members here for being such great mentors and supporters, I couldn't have done any of this without you. :green_heart:

feb23win.jpg
Winnie needed a haircut, she had to much foliage blocking development. So here's some defoliated before and after pics. As you can see I cut off that bizzaro stump stem. This should move the main flux branches to reach for the sides of the pot.

feb23after.jpg

feb23ella.jpg
Ellabella has got it going on. She's doing great and is now accelerated her outward growth. She's got some yellow tips still but I haven't fed her enough nutes to burned. I think it's still from her "acne"

feb23leia.jpg
As for Leialoha, she's still my little darling. Her new tips are already on there second (tiny tiny) leaves. I'll leave her big solar panels on for a few more days.

KiG everyone :green_heart:cheers

Feb. 24th, day 30 and 22. As another day passes into history we keep moving forward into the unknown. When it's all said and done it's what makes you happy that counts. I'm afraid to admit the joy these girls bring me, but it's truly my new found love. I'm actually dreaming about growing it's ridiculous how much I enjoy watching them grow, even more so than a satisfying veggie garden. It's all thanks to my supportive and curious better half. :circle-of-love:
Anyways on to the pictures.... Eh!
feb24ella.jpg
Ellabella got fed this morning the usual 1 litre mix of g/m/B, b52,calmag+,prosilicate and 1/2 tsp of molasses. Then I took about an extra 1/2 litre to get runoff. She sits to drain and Dry off (I like to blow it off by mouth) outside the lights footprint, then once she's dry she is back under the light. *this avoid the lens effect that water droplets may have, leading to burns*
feb24top.jpg
did I mention how symmetrical she looks...her training is very balanced I've let the lower branches reach the top ones and now things are going evenly everywhere.

feb24win.jpg
The new look for Winnie is working wonders for her. Outer tips are flourishing and the new flux tips are emerging quickly.

feb24leia.jpg
we have lift off, all new tips are on there way.

KiG :green_heart:cheers

I roll in late to everything :volcano-smiley: subbed :Namaste:

Hey what's up StoopingCrane, you aren't late for anything... I'm still not caught up on these ladies, still about of week of updates before we're live broadcasting this grow. Glad you found us here at Stinky Snid's nursery.
Pull up a chair and enjoy the show, it I'll be a good one. Thanks for being here, :goof:

KiG :green_heart:cheers

Edit- Additional note: another ski trip today, updates will come if I'm not too tired tonight. Have a good day and KiG

Feb. 25th, day 31 and 23. We've got another dull day of little to no activity in the garden. A little leaf tucking and some stake adjustments. But I'll get my nap in today. Yippee!
feb25win.jpg
Winnie is looking more like a normal plant than ever. Since I took the snippers to that zombie stem and I defoliated tons of weird growth she has been growing outward steadily.

feb25ella.jpg
I've let Ellabella's lower growth catch up some by releasing her stakes, didn't take her long to point her tips toward the light.

feb25leia.jpg
I think it's almost time for those big fans to be removed, lol I broke one of them bending it down... so I took 2 of the 4.

Hope you all are enjoying the grow so far. :Namaste:

KiG :green_heart:cheers

Feb. 26th, day 32 and 24. Twins are showing slight nitrogen deficiency, their new growth is very light green and has a touch of red tinge. I'm going to foliar spray them with a nute mix (under the leaves) then I'll rinse them with a mister using plain water. Let them dry outside the light footprint.
feb26win.jpg
Growth is still steady on Winnie, notice how light her new growth is though.

feb26ella.jpg
Ellabella looking stellar as usual.

feb26leia.jpg
Leialoha nothing to update... :thumb:

I've decided to go out and get myself a decent digital bathroom scale to weigh my pots daily in order to better know when they need water. I'll be posting weights A'la arteekay, starting tomorrow. Till then...

KiG everyone :green_heart:cheers

Weights are awesome. I love knowing when the girls need water increases by how fast they lighten. That RTK is a smart one.

I also just realized that Leialoha is a day behind one of my girls. I can't wait to compare pictures once I get some taken.

Hope you had a blast skiing! Looked like it was nice out there today.

Feb. 27th, I'll change the format a little to make things flow better. I've started weighing and already I like it, I can take them out of the tent. Inspect and preen them individually, take a picture and record the weight. It will give me some structure to my routine after work. Easy for me easy for my back! Ill be trying to determine dry weight by using my meter and when I have two consecutive days of equal weight.

Ellabella day 33 : 9.0
feb27ella.jpg
just another day in the temple Jedi training

Winnie day 33 : 8.2lbs
feb27win.jpg
the new foliage is filling up her middle very quickly, this mutant is a chugging along just fine

Leialoha day 25 : 8.8lbs
feb27leia.jpg
I did some light spreading of her new shoots to bend em green and get them horizontal eventually.

KiG :green_heart:cheers

Feb. 28th, this new system is working smoothly. Every girl gets her time in the spotlight, instead of picking and choosing who needs attention. I get the weights and record them, take a pic and note how much nute mix I'll need to make for each day. They each get 5-10 minutes of one on one teacher time every day now and I Think they like it.

Ellabella day 34 : 8.8lbs
feb28ell.jpg

I once again released her stakes to let her reach for the lights. I can't believe how symmetrical she still is, I guess my Master Jedi training sessions are doing what they're suppose to.
feb28ella8_8.jpg

Winnie day 34 : 7.4lbs
feb28win7_4.jpg

there is definitely some mutated tips still coming out, some nodes have three leaves. I imagine that they will all have shoots out them so I'll take it as a bonus. Her flux training has officially begun the shoots are now staked for an outward run.

Leialoha day 26 : 8.6lbs
feb28leia8_6.jpg
my darling child has got to be the best looking little auto that could. I can't wait to compare her to her cousins from my first journal. (amber alert for those two) if she's anything like Maria who was stunted from sprout, this little Leialoha will outshine her for sure.

KiG my fellow Jedi masters:green_heart:cheers

I'll be posting weights A'la arteekay, starting tomorrow. Till then...

Weights are awesome. I love knowing when the girls need water increases by how fast they lighten. That RTK is a smart one.

Far more used to being called anal and obsessive, but I'll take smart. :)

Really I'm shocked it wasn't already common, just seemed logical to me.

Feb. 29th, It was photos versus the auto for best student in today's class. And I think Leia had them beat before the light came on. Twins are 5 weeks old today and still no pistils, which I'm fine with. The more veg time the better, I'm not in such a hurry as last my grow.

Ellabella day 35 : 8.4lbs
feb29ella8_4.jpg
Finally some nute burn! I've been worried that I've not fed them enough in this soiless mix. Since it has zero nutes to begin with. I've been going according to manufacturer recommend doses but wasn't sure I was able to feed often enough. Now I have a baseline of what they can handle at this stage and I can adjust as they grow.
feb29ellab.jpg
Jeepers creepers where did she get those I's

Winnie day 35 : 7.2lbs
feb29win7_2.jpg
yup.

Leialoha day 27 : 7.8lbs
feb29leiab7_8.jpg
doing everything I can to get her first node shoots to get caught up. Some leaf tucking and She also had a few hours of ponytail time.

Mar. 1st,

Ellabella day 36 : 7.8 lbs
mar1ella7_8.jpg

I topped the two very top shoots again. Not only does it give me more tops but it slows top end growth, Benefiting all the other shoots.

Winnie day 36 : 6.8lbs
mar1win6_8.jpg
not much to update on Winnie. She is not the best looking girl, but she sure is fun to deal with

Leialoha day 28 : 7.6 lbs
mar1leia7_6.jpg

Speaking of fun I have been training Leia non stop, 2 hours of ponytail and then back to staked shoots today.
KiG everyone :green_heart:

Mar. 2nd, it's just another average weekday routine. Weigh, record, adjust stakes, take a pic.... Repeat. I'm getting faster at doing this, it's really a most efficient method of treating each girl with the same amount of love.

Ellabella day 37 : 7.6 lbs
mar2ella7_6.jpg
continued Jedi training, she's gonna be so grand, I've officially decided I'll up pot her eventually and veg her for an extra amount of time compared to Winnie.

Winnie day 37 : 6.8lbs
mar2win6_8.jpg
Winnie has now got one topped flux tip, and is almost ready to top the others. She's got 4 secondary shoots that will need training, I need to go get more wire.

Leialoha day 29: 7.2 lbs
mar2leia7_2.jpg
All shoots are practically level, this is one thing that I can't stress enough. The longer the shoots form an even canopy, they'll all get bigger together and your shoots will grow evenly.

Together we grow,
from clone and Seed we sow.
Water and air meet the soil,
Find where the roots toil.
Steady and even growth,
The stems and flowers both.
In the end it's but a friendly roast,
To what makes me happy most.
The greatest things are sad and silly,
Enjoying life with friends and family.
:Namaste:

KiG everyone :green_heart:cheers

Mar. 3rd, finally some results from the daily weigh in. It's been determined that Winnie is dry the third weigh in of the same weight.

Winnie day 38 : 6.8lbs
mar3win6_8dry.jpg

Shell be getting fed in the morning as lights come on. It doesn't take long for her to fill up the open space from defoliation.

Leialoha day 30 : 6.8lbs
mar3leia6_8.jpg
off day for training, stakes released and she having fun in the LED sun. Very healthy hue, she's doing just fine.

Ellabella day 38 : 7.0 lbs
mar3ella7_0.jpg
busy day for my "Stella" Ellabella, she's in the gym lifting stakes with her shear strength. I've had to make longer stakes to hold the shoots down. I may need to pull out the garden twine soon.
mar3ellab.jpg
her fluxable shoots are almost ready for bending with stakes, for now I'll just lightly bend them by hand.

KiG :green_heart:cheers

Mar. 4th, I spent some extra time with the girls today. I'll be going skiing tomorrow and want to make sure they're ok for the day without the my training. Lol I think they'll manage.

Leialoha day 31 : 6.6 lbs
mar4leia6_6.jpg

She's been so even since yesterday, no training required today. Her pot is almost dry, I would have normally fed her now but I'll wait for the weigh in tomorrow for confirmation.

Winnie day 39 : 10.8 lbs
mar4wim10_8.jpg

I'm thinking of removing the string that is holding her upright. She had started leaning to one side almost horizontal pulling up her roots. I tied her upright for the couple weeks. Hope she's gotten herself a better footing. More defoliation and more stake training. Her flux tips are still to tight for a topping.

Ellabella day 39 : 7.0 lbs
mar4ella7_0dry.jpg

Adjusted her stakes and a topping at her opposite flux tip that was already topped adding to her symmetry.
mar4topell.jpg
stupendous, marvellous... Her structure is impeccable, let the flux training commence on the secondary shoots.

As you can see were almost caught up in the timeline, glad to have you all join me on this grow/adventure. I've already made mistakes so I'm glad to share some of my experiences with y'all

KiG :green_heart:cheers

Mar. 5th, just a quick update today. Ski trip was a blast, that will be it for this season. Makes me think it's almost outdoor garden time. Real garden for veggies and fruits...well maybe a plant or two ☺. I also forgot to mention that Winnie was fed yesterday, full dose of g/m/b, b52,calmag+and prosilicate. I've found a way to make my water super oxygenated using a high pressure nozzle to make bubbles initially to the water aswell as as having the waterfall and circulation pump running.

Ellabella day 40 : 11.4 lbs
mar5ella11_4.jpg

Feed time for Ellabella, did it first thing in the morning before I left. Full dose just as her sister got yesterday. Her lower main shoots are almost even now, her topped tops on the top are splitting in two once again, I think I'll just keep topping them till the other shoots catch up

Winnie day 40 : 10.4 lbs
mar5win10_4.jpg
time for some more defol I think. She just bushes up so fast

Leialoha day 32 : 6.4lbs
mar5leia6_4.jpg
Nothing to note for today... Except, I think she's dry. We'll see in the morning.

THIS GROW IS NOW LIVE TIME

KiG :green_heart:cheers

Mar. 6th, finally a live update for you guys. You can take a breath and enjoy the daily's from here on out. Hope you all enjoyed the brief overview of their first 6 weeks of life. Now I've can have some realtime grow help if needed.

Ellabella day 41 : 11.2 lbs
mar6ella11_2.jpg

What a gem, she's so symmetrical. That's a fishing weight spreading her top tips. All of her end flux tips have now been topped after 3 sideways nodes. She's almost a Jedi master herself now. It's like she wants to be square shaped instead of round. I'm just very happy with her reinvigoration since her stumbled steps in her early days.
20160306_085811.jpg

Winnie day 41 : 9.8 lbs
mar6win9_8.jpg
her training is going according to plan. All of Winnie's flux tips have been topped at the third sideways node. Except for this lion's mane.
20160306_085253.jpg
there is like 5 or 6 fan leafs emerging from one node. I'm going to top this off but I want to see what develops from this... :geek:Very interesting.

Leialoha day 33 : 6.4 lbs DRY
mar6leia6_4dry.jpg
my darling got her a full feeding today 1 litre mix of nutes... G/m/B, b52,calmag+. Then she took another full litre of plain water to achieve run off. No training today, I'll let her soak up those nutes and bath in the light.

KiG :green_heart: cheers
