Steppenwolf's High Brix Grow

Here is an OK pic. Edges of leaf are darker green. Centers of leaf are lighter green. I may be nitpicking here, but I can tell a difference now. This is the small Tangerine.

Sound deadening box for Can Fan Max fan 8". I built it out of 3/4" MDF. I filled around the fan with a 2" memory foam mattress topper. Works pretty damn well, but its heavy.

New tent. I set this up with a 8" can fan going out through the ceiling and a 4" fan pulling air in off the floor. Seems to work well and keeps tents stable. For lighting I have a 8 bulb VHO floro fixture. I like the fixture, but it doesnt work for flowering very well. It should be a bad ass veg light. I am running 4 blue bulbs and 4 red. Fixture is 48" X 30" and fits 6 good sized plants comfortably.

Ill snap some pics of the inside soon.

Hey Doc, I got a question for you. During the last week, I have noticed some of the lower fans yellowing a falling off (just the ones shaded from light). I figured that was no big deal. Well, I noticed some of the upper fans turning a lighter shade of green as well. It is more noticeable on the Tangerines. I hit them all with Brix a couple days ago and they all got fed a couple days ago. After the Brix, they greened up some, but they are still a little off.

I cant put my finger on whats going on. They still look great, but they look almost like they need a little nitrogen? They are a little off (slightly) from where they were after the recharge and epsom water.

Maybe another round of epsom water? I will throw a couple pics up soon. And these still look 10 times better than anything I have grown yet...

Lower fan leaves yellowing and falling off.....NORMAL.

Top of plant changing color/slight yellowing? Maybe a problem, maybe not.

Give them a really thorough watering with lots of run-off using a 1/2 strength Energy mixture. Use normal strength tea and 1/2 energy. You'll recover! Not a problem.

Let them dry out first! They do look a bit overwatered....again, nothing to get worried over.

Container growing is challenging for sure.

Update Time. I wanted to do a proper update with some pics. I am down to spraying Stress once a week and Brix once a week. Plants look pretty ridiculous. The Tangerines and the Large Laughing Buddah are yellowing on the fan leaves ever so slightly. (You might not even be able to tell from the pics). I will be watering them as Doc stated above and that should take care of it.

I noticed a couple tiny spots of PM on the Large Critical Kush. No big deal. and No PM on the other plants at all.
Small Critical Kush. Already starting to bulk up and starting to foxtail. Lots of frost already.

All your plants are amazing bro!!! That small LB is crazy perfect :bravo:

Thanks Curso! That means a lot, man. It's pretty fun seeing the daily changes.

So all your tangerines are droopy? That's interesting....Everthing looks fantastic!

Yeah Doc, during lights out they were severely droopy. They could just be naturally droopy. I don't know. It seems like since they were a few weeks old they were always droopy. Just that strain though. I am hoping you like the laughing buddah as much as I do! I am hoping the LB gives your Champagne a run for its money lol.

Oh, I'd say they're neck and neck right now....that's a gorgeous plant. PLOTM for sure, no question about it.

So the first tangerine was droopy, you took clones and the clones are droopy too? That's interesting...any spots of weirdness of the leaves?

BTW, what are your day/nite temps and rH if you don't mind me asking?

I feel like I'm connected to your plants...the minerals went through my fingers, I smelled the awful stench of Stress, the world's most disgusting foliar spray that works like freakin' magic....I feel like they're my god children or I sponsored them in Ganganonamous meetings or something.....

Yep, I've been smoking the Champagne. I'm feeling pretty damn good!

Good post Doc! and you can always ask me anything. Its gotta be pretty damn fun to watch someone else have success with your kit!

Lets see if I can explain this right. I have 2 Tangerine Dreams in flower now. I took 3 clones off the largest plant, and those are in the veg tent now. The largest plant has been almost perfect, but was a little droopy in veg (almost looked over watered no matter how dry the soil was). The small Tangerine has looked droopy most of the time. It still seems very healthy, and buds are forming nicely, bud has droopy leaves.

The 3 clones, during lights out were very droopy, almost looked wilty. Soil was moist though, and they always perk right back up when the lights come on. They are a picky plant, I guess. Leaves look great.

My Temp for the flower room is a constant 81, during lights out and lights on. In the winter, I can drop the night temps to wherever. I actually have seen really good growth with this constant temp. It almost seems the plants grow better like this. My RH in flower room is 40% to 60%. Most of the time its 50%

Veg closet temp is constant 81. Sometimes up to 84. RH is a constant 40%.

Veg tent temp is 68 (lights out) to 81 (lights on). My RH is between 60% and 70%.

Is a RH of 60% to 70% acceptable in veg? What do you normally run? I was thinking of adding a dehum in the veg tent. Also, have you experimented with running constant temps, like 81 degrees for lights out and lights on?

You pretty much confirmed what I suspected.

Your plants, while amazingly great and nearly perfect, could benefit from:

Veg: 60-70% rH. 81 degrees is fine, just don't let night get warmer than day. You'll get nice tight nodes with a 5 degree temp drop at night.

Bloom: 50-60% rH. Try for a 10 degree temp drop at night. I think this will help with the wilting at first. They like a rest.

RE Temps: A narrower difference between day and night temps mean a shorter, tighter plant. 20 degrees difference gives a more stretched out plant. Both can yield very well...it just depends on your set up.

The rH thing is where I'm noticing I have the most impact.

Veg rH should always be more than bloom....60-70% is perfect.
If you go too low the plants get stressed and stomata close. Too high....same thing, although erring on the high side is better than low.

Bloom rH should be around 60%....but watch the spikes when the lights go off. As things cool, rH can rise suddenly. Fans and dehum help with this.

Here's the tip: as flowering progresses, stretch is done, and buds are getting fatter and frostier....drop night temps down a bit and try to get the humidity down to say 40% AT NIGHT. Keep it at around 50-60 during the day. This will bring on resin!

Man Doc, great info there. Every time I take your advice, things look better and better. It's a little frustrating having to relearn all the things I used to do, but it's worth it. I was following the high humidity spreads PM advice. So I ran lots of fans and a large dehum. That worked for the old plants, but these HB plants thrive in a better environment. You can see my plants are OK and they are growing well, but they could be better with better environment.

Would a sentinel controller be beneficial for a guy who is not running CO2? Or would it be better to set up for CO2? I look at things as a work in progress, I am steadily getting things dialed in for these HB plants.

All your help and advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks Doc.

I have two Sentinels...one in each room. It's the only controller I know of that does it all.

As indoor growers, we've only got one advantage.....we can control the weather. If we fail at that....we're just losers!

HOwever, if we succeed......we grow the finest!

Sentinels are on the list of things to research for me. Depending on how things look after this harvest, I might go for one for the flower room. Brix tonight. I just finshed giving most plants a 50% dose of energy. They liked it... Temps are real good all the way around and plants are happy. It is about 90 degrees outside today and I am at 82 in the flower room. 60% RH. Veg rooms are all stable and happy.

I stepped into the flower room today and I am starting to get blown away. Check these out.

Small Critical Kush. No PM anywhere. Things plant got real frosty almost overnight. I mean, it is frostier than any plant I have grown, and it still has a couple weeks I guess. And remember, I burnt most of the pistils off the lower 2/3 of this plant by spraying "Mildew cure" on it early in flower.

Tikal 12/12 from seed. Good call Doc on the pot sizes. This sativa dominant plant is almost 2 feet tall already. Few bud sites, though. Looks outstanding.

What can I say about the small Laughing Buddah? Well, the top cola is approaching the size of a Coke can and it still has 6 weeks to go. This is pretty good right?

Tangerines. Still showing yellowing of the fans, but I am thinking this may just be the strain. There are still many green fans, and the plant seems ok. Definitely and interesting plant.

I wanted to stress to use the kit EXACTLY as the directions stated. The small laughing buddah and small critical kush are the nicest plants (by far). These plants were grown following the kit directions exactly. The others missed root zone on transplant and a couple minor things, which were my own fault by not reading everything enough. These minor things made all the difference it seems. So if you have the kit, follow the directions.

I cant wait to show you guys the results of this harvest...

Oh btw, everybody loves the great white shark. It has a lot of sativa characteristics with a good up high. Exact opposite of white widow and its couchlock.

Looking good over there.

Thanks OG! I appreciate you stopping by.

Wow! It's been a min since I've stopped by and things are looking great! Way to represent the great state of Maine!

Hey Maine! good to see you. I am representing Washington state, lol. I am looking forward to the Great White Shark. I have a seeded plant that is going into flower tonight.

Update time. Things have been good and bad, I guess. PM has effed me around a little bit. It steadily increased on the Critical Kush's over the past week. It started to get into the small crevises of the lower buds. So, I decided to cut those 2 Kush's yesterday. They both turned out vastly different as you will see from the pics.

DSCF1575.JPG

I decided to put 8 more plants into flower tonight. I will be lysoling the room to hopefully rid myself of the PM for good. I had to cull the small Tangerine Dream as well. Way to much PM all over plant. She didnt have a chance and too many spores would be flying around the room. I still have the Large Tangerine, Large Laughing Buddah, and Small Laughing Buddah that do not have PM. The Tikal got PM early on, but hasnt shown signs since. The Tikal is super healthy and should be OK.
3 Critical Kush clones (topped) and 3 Tangerine Dream clones (from large Tangerine) ready to flower tonight.
DSCF15433.JPG

Ive got a 4" fan for an intake outside the tent and a couple small fans for circulation inside the tent.
DSCF15443.JPG

I added spreader bars made out of 1" by 2". These prevent tent suck around the plants when the big 8" fan gets moving air.
DSCF15453.JPG

Large Tangerine looks underfed. I will be feeding with transplant water next feeding.

So, I will be flowering the Great White Shark and the laughing Buddah clone as well tonight. The tikals will get repotted along with the Liberty Haze. Thise should flower in a month or so. I gotta take clones and soak more seeds tonight too. Things have been busy as hell with my regular job and with growing.

I smoked a tiny bud from the large Critial Kush. First off, it wasnt even dry, and it was cut a couple weeks early. It was some of the better smoke I have had yet. Insanely smooth. Its almost like you arent inhaling smoke. It had a better effect than the stuff the dispensary gave me last time (Durban Poison). I cant wait to try some stuff that I actually can let finish! I am very impressed so far!

Fantastic bro!!!! Its a drag you had to yank them a tad early, however they look awesome. I'm looking forward to your first HB smoke report bro. It's always great to read someone first experience with a good HB buzz :) Just a friendly reminder, there is no cap you will continue to get higher until you fall to sleep. ;)

I'm happy you showed the buckets after the wash, I was kinda grossed out when I washed mine yesterday.
