Step By Step Blueberry & Northern Lights Autos By Farside

On my first grow I played around with lower feed rates and feeding every water vs higher feed levels and feeding only once a week and water in between. Ended up going the feed every water route and I've been doing it ever since.

Day 15 - it's really more like day 14.5. Woke up this morning and there was still 5 hours till lights out which is a good amount of time for a little ponytail session. I normally like to ponytail for about 6 hours. For those not familiar, ponytailing is tying together some of your top growth as to expose lower branches to more light, aiding their growth. I'll do it for 3-5 days straight, for about 6 hours a day. Blueberry 2 doesn't have enough undergrowth/nodes yet for it to be advantageous, so I'll do her later.

Day 16 - The Northerns got a 3 hour ponytail session this morning, I was a bit short on time. Their undergrowth is heating up since topping. The Blueberries are doing fine but the pace of growth doesn't match the Northerns. Everyone should be ready for a drink in the AM.

During flower too?

Yes, the schedule in post 40 (on page 3 of this thread) is my every watering feed schedule.

I remember... Did you reduce the percentage of recommended nutes since you're feeding every time? If so how much?

It's not really a straight line percentage. For sprouting seedlings its about 1/8, week 1 25%, week 2 50%, week 3 75%, and finally full strength in week 4 of veg. Then they (Dyna-Gro) have you upping the strength significantly in week 1 of bloom and I only feed about 60% of what they say. Their schedule tapers off after that and mine remains constant. In short, its something I've put together through trial and error that works for me.

It never really says in their chart if its once a week or every water, but I couldn't imagine throwing that much feed at them every water since I use quite a bit less than "reccomended" doses and don't have deficiencies.

Day 17 - Everyone got 1/2 gallon of Week 3 feed and a 3 hour ponytail session this morning. You can see NL1's undergrowth has come up and there are a lot of beautiful tops going on now. Did a little bit of tucking on her to expose them better. I don't know that she'll need any more ponytailing.

Looking great, that NL1 is huge for day 17, thumbs up.✌

I don't think I've ever had one that far along at that time before, looking at past journals. She's my pride and joy of this grow, that's for sure.

Well, I've got about 4 clones I just started, maybe I'll do a feeding experiment... If I can get a couple to root.

It's always fun to experiment, just keep copious notes. What nutrient line are you planning to use?

Man they growing fast.. looking good mate..

Looking great mate,NL's love to grow big fat leaves to cover up bud sites:)
So far with my berry I Havnt had to tuck a single leaf which has been good.Whats your temps like running 4 300's in there?

The air conditioning in the house is set to 76 and inside the tent I'll see a high of 82, so 6 degrees Fahrenheit over outside ambient temperature. I don't think thats bad considering I'm at like 80 watts per square/ft.

That's also with the exhaust fan at it's slowest speed. If I turned it on high I might be able to drop it another 2 degrees, but it's in the closet in my wife's office. She'd likely complain about the extra noise.

Day 18 - 3 hour ponytail session for NL2 and both Blueberries today. With a little tucking, you can see the lower growth making it's way upward on NL2.

Day 19 - We have 2 girls. Both Northerns showed their sex today, the Blueberries have not yet. I moved the lights up a couple inches so they are 18"-20" above the tops again, and a little leaf tucking to expose possible tops. They will all need a drink tomorrow, and since it will only be one day early, I'll move them to the week 4 feed schedule. I'll probably start bowl training NL1 tomorrow also. I hate to have to water around all the pipe cleaners but I think getting a head start opening up the plant will be worth it in the end.
