Stanks Switch It Up In 2019

Oh man, you and I could have a great chat, Van Stank! :headbanger:

It just spurts out of me whenever anyone mentions going to college! Ack. What for?
Poultry Science grads get paid pretty well. Even better if you can work on ammonia systems.....but then, it's working for the 'capitalist pig man'

If I did it again I would do this.

I believe we could sir! Would be a hell of a time. I need another year or two to finish getting my shit together at the house before I will feel comfy taking off for one of these 420 meet ups. I just work so much slower than I used to LOL.

Do they allow craft-beer brewing or cannabis cultivation courses? :cheesygrinsmiley:

I don't know what the limitations are in what you can use it for. :hmmmm: Suppose I should check that out LOL.

glass-blowing would be cool...
:roorrip::hookah:

I would love to learn that skill. Would also love to have a forge and learn how to make my own knives and tools too!

LoL
Very familiar with MTS training. Was cadre/instructor for 8 years of my career. Mostly taught on the range, or law enforcement classes, but also did 3 years teaching Aviation Warfare. LoL

It took me awhile to get accustomed to formal education again, but I settled in pretty well once I enjoyed the topic.
:thumb:

I have no doubt I would well....I generally learn things easily except when you start involving the alphabet into math, then all I see is chinese.

That's weird. I just watched Forged in Fire for the first time last night. It was fascinating! After 3 episodes it was midnight and I called it quits, but set it to record the next one.
Awesome show!
:thumb:

Except for the 2 cheesedick judges. LoL

I've dabbled, but would like to get back into it. I've found that old "box-end" wrenches make a decent fixed blade.

Yeah thats a really cool show. Ms Stank loves it....and probably wishes I would watch it more.

There is another cool show we like, Alaskan Railroad. Man that would be a hella cool job to have....driving trains around alaska! They get to see and do some really cool shit. And the logistic support to handle all the stuff they have to deal with....thats the only kind of drama I like on TV.

I love the "It will KILL" guy! I sit in anticipation waiting for him to say it....LOL. I smile and turn and nod at Ms Stank every time he does that. LOL, silly I know, but I don't give a shit! :ganjamon:

Fucking karate kid!

:bongrip: Evening y'all! Bit of a long day here. Started off with mixing up another batch of our Stank Soil. Took some time to take pics of the process and what goes into. Being its winter here and the ground is frozen, I grabbed the tarp and set everything up to mix in the basement.

First off, I always pre-measure up all my amendments and dump them in a 3.5 gallon bucket before I am ready to mix the soil. This does two things....1, saves me time and 2, and more importantly lets me go through my ingredients to ensure I have everything I need. Nothing worse than getting halfway into adding amendments into the soil and realize you are out of oyster shell flour. Stank don't mix twice. If I find I am out of something, I have a day or two to get it, though I have been pretty good about stocking up extras of most stuff.

Anywho....here we go! :bong:

This is the area we are working in......

And here is most everything that goes into our soil. Now sometimes I use Pro mix and sometimes I use Coco in with the mix. I haven't come up with a definitive preference yet....but this batch is using Coco.

I use Roots Organic Soil as the base for my mix....2 bags along with a 30 lb bag of Wiggle Earth Worm Castings, a bag of Alaskan Humus, Bio-Char, and in the bucket are all the dry amendments.....which you can see here......

So...I break open the two bags of Roots, add the Humus and EWC and we are looking like this.....

Now to make sure my amendments are mixed up good...I take the bucket of stuff and dump it in a trash bag

I Close the bag and carefully mix everything up . When I think I am done, I mix it up some more and then finish everything off by going through it with my hands and breaking up any chunks of stuff. When its all done, this is what it looks like.

Back in the bucket it goes.....since the bucket makes it easier to pour than trying to do it out of a 50 gallon trash bag. From there....I add it to the pile of stuff. Time for the hard part....mixing it all up. I probably go overboard, but I like to make sure everything is mixed really well.

When I have mixed everything up really well.....it looks like this.....

Time to add the peat moss or the coco now....depending on what i am using. It likes to clump together so I go through by hand and try to break up most of the lumps.

Another good mixing and here is what we are playing with now.....almost done. Couple more steps....

Up next are all my beneficials. I add Mykos and Azos to it and then begin wetting it down with 2 gallons of water before mixing again...

After mixing it well....time to add in more water....another 2 gallons followed but a good thorough mixing and then 1 last gallon for a total of 5 gallons. When its all finished....this is what we are left with. There may be a few small clumps of humus or coco but not much.

After that....it was time to break out one of the old tents. I need to flip two more plants and I don't have room in the flower tent....so the old 2x4 was dusted off. Before I did anything, I cleaned the piss outta this thing. Vinegar is your friend when cleaning tents, but don't spray near the plants! Got the tent cleaned (poles as well) both inside and out and set up. I broke out the Perfect Sun Dwarf Star and dropped the Slurricane and the Labyrinth in it to start their slow transition into flower.

Slurricane is on Veg Day 96. I haven't been doing much with here the last week or so...just letting her go. I cleaned her just a touch today. A couple quick pics of her....

Labyrinth is on Veg Day 89. Same story with her. Both she and the Slurricane got a gallon of water along with a little top dressing.

And a little peak into the flower tent as well......long day in there as well. Spent time looking them over, checking for signs of anything being wrong, any pests, and making a few small adjustments. Also do their waterings as well. Everyone got watered in there today.

Wanted to add a bit to the comment on the slow transition. Normally I have always done an abrupt manipulation of the photo period when I am ready to flower a girl or a tent out. This time I am going to try something a bit different. I am going to do a gradual transition down to 12/12. They were currently running 16/8 with lights on at 7am and lights off at 11pm.

Tonight we made the first drop in lighting. Changed the timer to drop down half an hour for the next two days. So lights off will be at 10:30pm. In 2 more days, I will drop another half hour and keep going until they are at 12-12.

No idea what to expect but I figure I would give it a shot. Never know if you don't try!

On the amendments, can't see the the ones on the end or the box that's turned around. Am curious as to how much of each you add.

Most things get a cup or two. I think there are couple things that get 3 cups, but without my list here to look at, I don't recall. I am constantly adjusting and tweaking it though. THis batch I cut all the Nitrogen heavy stuff in half, except the Neem and the Neem/Karanja Cake.

I mixed another 50-55 gallons a couple weeks ago so I have plenty to experiment with. I also upped the Ca a bit this time.

Nice soil building tutorial, glad you took the time to post that.
Thanks Penny, I figured it was time I put one back up. Seems the forums won't get carried over.

The soil build is where all my work is done.....after that, the cook for 30-45 days minimum (60+ days is better), its just water. I got everything on dollies so I just roll the soil where ever I need it....no lifting.

Oh and if you were wanting specifics on each I can send that to you in a PM

that's a good experiment van im experimenting on my grow to I went 10 minutes a day light dep starting today there at 11/13 it seems the stretch is a nice slow transition none of the stress the plant goes through when its just flipped all at once im going to do it that way next time I will likely stick to it!

Like the idea of a gradual transition to 12/12, it's how it occurs naturally. planning on starting that with my girl today.....learn something everyday!

Stellar tutorial! Thanks for taking the time to put it together!

Grow on!
