Stanks Switch It Up In 2019

Bonus Update

Ok, so as most of you that have been following us for a while know that had a bunch of plants going this spring and summer that caught some funk from fungus gnats and we moved them outdoors when we got back off vacation. Many of those died off as they grew but some remained....some healthier than others. We have a couple of them that are doing pretty good and the best one we have is the Sour Angel from In-House Genetics and the DTF from our own line. I think both of those are free and clear of the funk.

Weather was good most of the outdoor season here, but its gotten COLD the last few days. Temps have been dropping down in the low 30s and supposed to get down there again tonight. All the outdoor girls seem to be dealing with those temps very well and none show any signs of being angry. Also really amazed at the the fact that I am not finding any bud rot on any of the outdoor girls.

Anyways, here are a couple pics of the Sour Angel as she sits in the 47 degree temps outside.....Cheers, hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Yowza! Your outdoorica's looking phenomenal!

Upwards & onwards!

This plant is doing really well, man! Even in cold weather most of them will do fine and if she's coming to an end it's nothing to worry about.

Thanks Conrad! Very happy with her at this point. Yeah the cold isn't as hard on them as people make it out to be. I always chuckle when I hear someone freaking about temps in their tent being out of the 'prime range'. They will be fine....mother nature doesn't keep the outdoors at 70-85 degrees at all times and yet plants somehow miraculously survive!

Leaf temps were probably in the 80s with the radiant heat from the sun. Looks fantastic out there Van! I hope the weather holds for them. :goodluck:

Thanks Shed! Looks like we are getting at least a week of warmer temps. Should get another week or two on her.

:thanks:

Hope you had a great weekend!

Hey Van, just doing a quick drive through this morning. Plants looking great as expected. :bravo:

Hey KH, how you doing brother? Was getting ready to send you a PM and see how things were going out in your world brother!

@Van Stank Things are going great! Had a crazy rollercoaster last few days. Long and short, my wife's doctors told us they thought she had cancer again. Did some more tests a week later, and turns out they were wrong. She is all clear.:cheer::woohoo: So yeah, that was one stressful week, but made for a great weekend getting the news friday afternoon.

So we had Ms Stank do some looking on the underside of the Stank Surprises last night. She was able to quickly see that #1 and #2 were girls, but she wasn't able to confirm anything on #4. Hopefully it will decide to show its naughty bits in the next couple days. I would like to get them transplanted into their 10 gallon pots (together.....its just up to #4 as to if we will be growing 2 or 3 in that 10 gallon pot).

Loving that outdoor plant.

Hard to go wrong with IHG.

Good to see something good from the spring summer run turning out.

The issue you had I think I had the same thing.

Check out "phytoplasma" its a thing around the world now not just in cannabis although its a big thing with hemp.

I started watering with my rain water but just on my clone table. We have leaf hoppers outside and they got into my clone table with the water from outside.

Leaf Hoppers are vectors for phytoplasma virus. Leaf Hoppers look and act a lot like gnats.

Some plants will live thru it, some plants just die an some plants don't do well and are sickly then either die or grow thru it.

Thanks Bob, I appreciate the information. Will do some reading up on it when I have a bit more time. Sure wish I knew for sure what my issues were. I am getting ready to treat all my spring and summer soils by cooking them over my big outdoor fire pit to kill anything that might have been lingering in the soil. I have a couple hundred gallons of good soil that I can rebuild for next years outdoor season!

Its a thing with alfalfa here in the states. Leaf Hoppers bring it on up starting in the south. By the 3rd or 4th alfalfa cutting yields are WAY down. Seed scientists figured out a way to make GMO alfalfa seeds so the plants are immune to the virus.

I figured it out with a 1+1 thing talking to my farmer neighbor. He offered me a side of beef, they harvest this time of year. I said yeah sure thing. Asked him if he grass fed them. I got a sideways look like I was a city boy. lol

He said naw, feed them alfalfa and fatten with corn down the stretch. Said cattle get on bad patch of grass and they get sick and meat tastes like leather. Got me thinking and looked into the alfalfa deal since we gonna be eating the meat. Bingo... found the phytovirus thing thats been in a bunch of cannabis grows indoors and out. Looked exactly like what I had. Also a thing around the world with hemp.

There have been quite a few outbreaks out west. They were calling it purpling disease or something. Plants new growth would be twisted purple with stunted new growth.

I had that and the witches broom thing. I started looking around here in Philly and that stuff is everywhere here in all the trees.

Here's what I'm reading:

Global Status of Phytoplasma Diseases in Vegetable Crops

Been a busy day with the girls today. Gave them all a good haircut and gave them all a good IPM. We have made wednesday our IPM day just for ease of remembering.

The girls look a bit sad right now after being sprayed down and left floppy and wet.

We will be up potting the Afghani girl and the Labyrinth tomorrow and assuming the Stank Surprise will show its sex, they will be getting up potted as well. Hopefully everyone will be a bit more photogenic tomorrow.

The Skunks are smell like pure Skunk for sure and the Jack Herer is smelling wonderful as well. Cheers!

And for those that have expressed interest.....here is the Slurricane. We are working on spreading her canopy low and wide.

Integrated Pest Management? What are you doing?
Yep.....I will be alternating things. This round there was a bit of kelp in with some silica and Montery Garden stuff. Next wednesday I will hit them with a bit of Neem. In conjunction with that, I will be doing one watering with mosquito bits in it to hurt any potential fungus gnats that might show up.

I may also hit them once every two weeks some H2O2 mixed with water for a spray as well. I just want to get it into a schedule. I do much better when I force myself to stick to a schedule vs freelance gardening.

Hi Van and Ms - I‘m dropping in with this info about a survey for veterans and cannabis use i just saw on Instagram. It’s part of the campaign to improve access. Shed suggested that here might be a good place to share it. It was posted there by Dr Dustin Sulak who I have great respect for so I am confident it’s a legit thing :)

Hope your garden goes well! I’d better drop back a few pages and check the outdoor action. I’ve missed a real lot of changes and developments in the Stankhouse!

:Namaste:

Thank you for posting that Amy! It thrills me to see people looking at cannabis and that particular group.

So some additional good news tonight......had Ms Stank look at Stank Surprise #4 and it came back as a girl. I gave all three of the Stank Surprise girls about a half dose of water. They are chugging it right now and I will be up potting them all into a 10 gallon pot together.

I am brewing a batch of ACT tonight as well. ACT is Aerated Compost Tea for any new followers that might not be familiar with organics and what we do here. This will be the first thing other than rain water or well water up to this point. The reason I am doing this now instead of right when I flip them is I am not seeing the reaction I like to see when a plant goes into fresh soil. The energy seems low to me based off the behavior of the plant. Definitely need to get it ramped up before flipping them.

The goal of the ACT is to ramp up the bio-activity in the soil, which will sync up with the roots and BOOM! The energy in the soil will result in explosive growth and very healthy plants in the fresh soil....which is what I want right as I am flipping. Normally I see a lot better energy in the growth and wait to do this ACT until I flip or right around day 7 of 12/12.

Its been a while on the pup update as well. Man is he growing!

He's a royal pain in the ass but we love the little shit! He's gone a couple weeks now without any accidents so I think for the most part I can call him pretty much potty trained....with an *. The * being that we don't let him on any of the carpeted areas since thats where he likes to pee and poop. He doesn't seem to have the desire to pee or poop on the wood or tile.

He's still teething something fierce....and it drives me bonkers. I go to pet him and he tries to chew my hand LOL. "Stop it you little shit...I am not a meal! I only desire to love you....yet you chew on me no matter what!"

He has claimed a big bean bag as his 'spot' in the living room. He splits time between there and on my feet.
