Stanks Go Perpetual In 2018!

Not the whole strain name game again.... lol i think that its hard to be consistant unless all the seeds came from one set of plants at one facility. Even then you would have variation with the differing phenotypes depending on how stable it was bred to be. I look at it is a general guidline for effect, yeild and possibly smell.

Plants look good van. Something i noticed is you dont tie yours down as aggressively as some of us do. Any reason for that like less space in the flower tent or you prefer a taller plant?

Well the choice on what to do with it was just a variety. Like on the Nukehead, I was fascinated with the structure so I wanted to see it grow without any training and let her grow naturally.

The Stankberry (female) was topped once around the 6th node....its the really tall one. The Blue Dream was topped at the 5th node and will likely get topped again on its 4 mains.

The Jack Herer Auto is tied down and spread out....trying to maximize the shoots.

Its hard to decide what to do with some of the different strains because they grow so differently.....and I like to see what some of them grow like.

As for height, my light lets me run the light as close as 6" above the canopy so height isn't the issue it used to be for me. Now having said that, the Stankberry is going to punish me for not tying her down, she is going to be up in the lights soon. She is 37" tall now.....when she started flower, she was 24".

Blue Dream Veg Day 48

Afternoon everyone! Not a lot to update today, just the Blue Dream today and perhaps Ms Stanks male Harlequin (we harvested our first vial of pollen from him last night) when his lights come on tonight. The Blue Dream seems to have fully recovered from her getting root bound about 2 weeks ago. I might keep her in veg just a bit longer to make up for those two weeks.

She got a healthy dose of ACT yesterday with about 5ml of Cal Mag and about 4ml of Silica. Those are the only additions to my ACT that I have changed with the Blue Dream and big Stank girl. Made a note in my soil sticky to increase both Calcium and Potash in future batches of soil.

I took a lot of leaves off her to open her lower growth up a little bit. I toyed with the idea of topping each of her 4 mains but haven't decided if I am going to do it or not.....will make my decision in the next couple days. I am kind of leaning towards it, especially if I am going to give her an extra week or two in veg.

Good morning Van and Ms Stank! Its Probably afternoon there but I’m at 742am on a beautiful crisp and clear autumn morning - with one of my prized plants getting the last morning it sun she will see - harvest for her this time tomorrow :yummy:
So from me - it’s good morning :)

But - didn’t pop in here to talk about my garden... blue Dream is looking lovely. She really has bounced back!
Have you topped her at all yet? It looks like at least one early topping, just from the branching structure. I think I missed some stages in my catchup read. Can you tell me what you’ve done with her so far?

:Namaste:

I topped her once.....5th node I believe.....and I am leaning towards topping those main 4 colas again. That will give them a couple weeks to recover and get ready for flower.

Yeah she has recovered nicely thank you.

Other than the topping at the 5th, she hasn't had much go on with her......I have her pulled out a bit to open up her middle for some of the lower side branching (just seeing how they develop for now....might keep them or cut them off depending on how they grow).

LOL...I can't imagine how many times its happened. Hell it happened to me on my first grow with my first seeds. I started dropping seeds into water without marking what seeds were what. Good thing Blueberry has a distinctive smell and I was able to ensure that my guesses were correct. Otherwise my Durban Poison would have been Blueberry and vice verse!

lol yup same here, 3 seeds, 3 shot glasses, all written down what was what... 24hrs later I had two seeds in one shot glass.... No idea how I did that lol

sorry the name game got started cause of me and my curiosity lol I agree with you to use it as a guideline.

I hear you on the different growth structure. I try to match them up as much as i can by a breeders description then try to tie them down similarly but with the variety of plants you're growing combined with being perpetual my method would be meaningless.i am going to change lights when i start up again in the fall.

There is going to be phenotypical variation within almost all strains. You will get less the more the strain gets worked (hopefully) with the least being seen in In-bred lines. I like breeders that give you a break down of the different phenos for each strain so you have an idea of what to expect. Dynasty is really good for this and so in Annunaki. Some breeders put out way too many strains to ever give you a break down of the phenos and these same ones rarely work them enough to get them to IBL. One of the biggest issues with strain names is that some breeders will put out a strain with the same name as another after taking some of the originals seeds and breeding with them. When multiple breeders do this it is then hard to know what to expect when you pop seeds of a certain strain unless you get them from the same breeder that you tried it from originally.

Blueberry is a good example of this. DJ Shorts Blueberry is the original. Dutch Passion had original stock since DJ Short bred fro them for a while. At some point they went separate ways and Dutch Passion has been raided a couple of times so their stock is not as nice as DJ's since they lost what he was originally working with. Any other breeder that has BB either bred other things and ended up with a blueberry smelling strain of their own or they worked either DJ's or Dutch Passions lines. Because of this it is always nice to know who the breeder is when people mention strains grown from seed.

thank you yeti, you took the thoughts swirling around in my brain and put them into words better than I could have imagined. I too appreciate the breeders that give you the break down of what you might be getting. Brothers grimm. Dominion seed company. To name a couple more that really take pride in their strains and test them before putting them on the market.... I can't explain why I appreciate it the way I do, but it makes all the difference to me when I'm looking to buy seeds. Just like when i buy a horse, I want to know the lineage and see as much of the parents/siblings as I can to give myself a more educated guess of the potential of said horse.

You are welcome bud! I have plenty of seeds from breeders that do not break down the different phenos you may encounter. Being on InstaGram though I see a lot of these strains grown out before I make the purchase though. Or I see enough of the parental strains grown out to feel comfortable in assume they are going to put out some very nice progeny.

Well if it was lost and one breeder is selling indica and one with sativa then it's just a name someone threw on a strain! Your strain works well for you and others who buy it from the same breeder would show similar results. But if another breeder has a whole different strain with the same name then it's no different from all the Ray's Pizza in NY!
I don't believe its lost Shed. Up there they are growing trees of it

Man Stanks, I'm loving on that Blue girlie.
Yeah she has been my favorite for a while! She lost a little appeal when she was dealing with her issue, but she has snapped back into being one sexy girl again! She looked real happy this morning when I checked them out.

By the way, I meant all the labels YOU put on the baggies!

LOL, I know what you meant Shed! I can promise you any labels I put on the baggies are good! If I have any doubt at all about what seed is what, it goes into my Stank Surprise jar! I have a couple hundred seeds in there!

I don't believe its lost Shed. Up there they are growing trees of it

I am hoping that when Ms Stank and I take a vacation to Alaska in the next year or two, we will be able to come across some no shit real deal Alaska strains. If not, I am happy with what I got from Twisty Treat (wish they were still making seeds....I was very impressed with how the ATF grew)

Those are some great looking plants, looking forward to seeing the end result. I am a long time outdoor grower, but as time has it's way of catching up with everyone I am now looking to moving indoors this winter.

Hey Zincite, thanks for stopping by and welcome! Glad to have ya here.

Outdoor growing is something I am really looking forward to trying once we find our final home. Feel free to share any outdoor grow pics you might have!

Lol I’ve never even been to a Ray’s pizza! Really interested to see how your NL and BD do on the Stank soil, brother! So far I think one of our NL were the most effective and man are they ever frosty!

I am digging this NL so far.....very strong and healthy plant. I have a lot of time to work with her so I am going to try and make her pretty big. She is probably going to be vegged for about 10 weeks total, so a couple weeks longer than normal. She is a Sensi Northern Lights so I have high hopes for her genetics.
