Stanks Go Perpetual In 2018!

Ok....so the "S" stands for 'Self' and the number indicates the generation. So lets use this example Joe....I make some S1s from my Blue Dream and send them to you. You grow one out and you love it and decide to make some feminized seeds. You spray it with STS and she sprouts balls and BAM, KJ just made some "S2s". Now you give some of them to Guy Cavellero cause you think he might like some and he grows it out and loves it. Guess who now wants to make Fems from that Blue Dream to keep around for a while.....yup, and me makes him some "S3s". Each time someone else makes an S from that same lot, it will add another higher number.

Supposedly from a few things I have read, after about S5s and S6s, you can start to see issues with the stability of the genetics (according to some).

Now as far as what you can cross with an S1, well you can cross just about anything. Keep in mind you will generally need it to be a male that you cross it with, but it really doesn't matter what "F" you cross it with. It will all work of both parents are strong.
That I understand thanks man perfect . Hats off brotha . I get it how can we find out what they are ? I notice most seeds banks or im
Not looking in the right spot doesn’t show its linage V

No problem Derby. It was confusing when Ms Stank and I sat down to read up on a lot of that stuff a while back. If you or anyone else has any questions, please ask. If I don't know the answer, it will force me to learn more.....which I love to do. Its really fascinating stuff.
It is cool man so what is f? From s?

I do need to start reading more on that now that I have more confidence growing. I'm thinking that's the next step for me.
I’m almost there soon maybe next winter will see .

No, most of them don't show you what you are getting generation wise. I know some of ACE seeds will tell you an "F8 Black Panama crossed with an F6 Malawi male (just an example....made up so don't go looking for that specific cross LOL).

Aside from that, you don't know what you are getting Joe.

Just saved me a shit load of searching. Excellent explanation:thanks:

I love this stuff

It really is Derby. Its funny.....I have never ever had a desire to go to college. Just give me a book and I will read it and learn it on my own. Sitting in a classroom is basically torture for me.....but this stuff has me considering using my GI Bill to go get an actual 'education' in Bontany specifically for our Stank Genetics future. This stuff is interesting enough to me to want to torture myself in a classroom.

Have I said lately how much I despise the idea of attending college.

Uh maybe once lol

"F" is used to denote the generation of a traditional breeding between male and female. Lets take my Stankberry strain for this example. Suppose I want to stabilize it. So I grew out the original parents....an ATF male and Blueberry female. Now in true breeding, I would want to ensure that those were as stable as possible before making a cross with it. Lets assume the original breeders did that.

So the resulting offspring of my cross between ATF and Blueberry will be F1s. The one growing in my journal is an F1. The male in my breeding tent is also an F1. If I bred them together, they will produce F2 seeds. Now lets say I grow out 20 of them and get 10 males and 10 females. I would take the male I liked the most (structure, vigor, node spacing, smell....whatever you are looking for) and breed it with the best female out of the bunch that has what I am looking for (yield, lower flowering time, pest resistance, leaf to bud ratio, THC or CBD level). That breeding would produce F3 and the number of different phenos available should be reduced and the strain should become more stable.

Just take the classes that really interest you. That GI bill is a blessing for you to fulfill your dreams. Your young enough to really take advantage of the situation that is going on in the world. You have street smarts to go along with an education. DO IT MAN JUST DO IT
Believe me.....for me to even be considering doing that, tells you how serious I am about it and how interesting all this stuff is to me. Don't get me wrong, I loved gardening before cannabis and Ms Stank and I have a very nice large outdoor garden in nice raised beds and enjoyed learning about it......but cannabis and the miracle it has become for my back (and for other friends and family members we give stuff to) has made the desire to learn everything possible strong enough for me to consider going to college (hopefully online as much as possible).

I'm the same way. Grew up on a farm where we had close to an acre of garden. I have a 150x50' garden now. Love growing the veggies but don't put much into it other than plant, till, a little fertilizer and harvest. I love my garden down in the derby dungeon. I want to know everything I can about it. I want to try to help as many people as i can.(but can't living where we do) I love training my plants, defoling them, mixing nutes. I get excited thinking about maybe making my own seeds or stains even. I have a drive in me that I really can't explain. And then i get to this site and everyone is so helpful, wanting me to succeed after I tried to grow the vegetable garden way. (Not good) You have a chance to learn from the ground up on the government's tab the whys and how's of growing. I say do it. You don't need to get a degree, just the knowledge to help you get where you want to be with Stanks Genetics. Man sorry for the rambling but I hope you know what I'm trying to get at.
Well Van hope you and ms. Stank have a great 420 day

Got it well explained explain I will make sure anyone looking for info on what f1 or s1 means I will send over to read up because that was explained greatly well. Thank you buddy . Happy 420 again. So for an f1 your stable male and female have babies together that is f1 then out of hose ten and ten you pick best plants essentially that you think and take a make and female and give them babies then becomes f2 and so on ?

And remember that the F2 and F3 generations is where you’ll see increased numbers of variation. I would take clones from f2 or f3 plants and number them or use letters so you know what parent the clone came from. You could find the keeper of a lifetime, one more reason to start with F1 seeds if you want to find a new killer phenotype.

Knowing the parents only goes so far. It certainly helps...especially if you know everything else they might have produced (could show you the various recessive genes you don't see specifically in the parents). But again parents only show a few of the possible genetic outcomes.

I definitely think I am going to explore it. I think I might do a little something with some of the Blue Dream pollen when I make feminized seeds.
What I meant by knowing the parents is knowing what is in their genepool. So say he hunts through 500 seeds of each parental strain to find his keepers and has kept good notes along the way, he will have a very good understanding of what can poop up in those genetics. Yes there are going to be recessive genes that may not have popped out especially if the seeds he worked through were F1s. If he was in the F2 generation he would have a better chnace of seeing a lot of the recessive traits pop up though and if he was beyond F2 he would have already been well on his way to working past the recessive traits. So in order for the R1 method to be very effective an extensive knowledge of the paternal geenpool is indeed very helpful. I think all breeders should run their own gear and hunt through to find the different phenos and note what possible outcomes show up. One of the reasons I like Dynasty and Annunaki is that they will give you a break down of most of their strains telling you what phenos to expect and at what average rate each one shows up.

if you have the opportunity you should take it van! If i knew back then what i know now, i wouldnt have wasted 4 years of my life at two different schools in programs that made me feel dumber lol.. Wish i had known about my plant love, id have taken every botany/greenhouse/genetics course i could. Lol too far gone now... Maybe in a decade or two i can go back.

couldnt agree more with this, another good example of a breeder that does this is dominion seed co... Brothers grimm was really good about it too.. But theyre using more and more feminized stuff and thats just not my cup of tea...they have their place but I prefer regs, even if i have to search through them.

Harlequin Flip Day 21, Day 13 with Hairs

I meant to post this update last night after Ms Stank finished her defoliation but I happened across a killer Blueberry nugget that seemed to be my downfall last night. This was Ms Stank's first post flip defoliation and she had a lot to take off....looked like the Amazon under that canopy. She did a great job (I didn't even supervise this time) and Harley looks happy and healthy and is building her buds nicely.

We both got some interesting smells off her last night. We aren't quite sure what it is but it had a Mango/Papaya/Melon type scent to her. First time I have come across a plant with those smells. Very cool.
