Looking good Beast!

Couple of questions...what's the heat output like on those lights? And second why do you choose to grow Autos over photo's?

Welcome verbal.and the heat off the goliath is not much diffrent to when i was running 1600w of basic leds.so heat very managable.and the reason i grow autos over photos is because i love autos.there great to grow and can get more harvests in per year.and i can veg and flower under the same light.so keeps me constantly been able to have plants grow at any stage to keep me full of buds.and autos to me grow and flower alot faster than a photo.i will always grow autos.i have a few photo beans i may try 1 day;) hope this helps.happy growing;)

Beautiful looking plant. I don't know,,,, myself, everything to me says never top an auto flowering plant. Regardless what peoples say, it has to slow it down afew days of that ever so precious veg time involved with autos. Anytime you pinich that terimal top it has to recover.
I have seen the beautiful plants you've put out. I just wonder if you might not get alittle xtra in the yield department, if you was to do LSTing over topping? Looking great Keepem Green

Hi Norical,

this is just my personal experience, but I grow only autos. I top almost all that I grow. One of the "joys" that I look forward to in each grow is the explosion of growth the day or the day after I top.
Yesterday I topped 2 autos. One was 16 days old, the other 17. I had a personal rule that I don't top after 14 days, but I went for it. I topped at about 8 am. At 8pm the explosion was visible. The plants just react and take off. It's a bit of a kick for me. The fastest and most noticeable growth, for me, happens within 2 days of the topping. Just my personal take on it. :)
 
One think to add to my comment above. This time I topped my girls after the 4th stage instead of the 3rd. It seems the higher you go before topping, the more "main" branches. Topping after 3 always gave me 6 mains. Topping after 4, should give me 8. Hopefully a bit better yield.

BTW Beast. Not sure if you remember when I said I wish I could figure out how to get a quick start with LED instead of going from CFL and Fluoro for veg, then into LED for flower. I started this run completely under LED. I closed my system...no fresh air. I added a CO2 bag. The extractor now collects CO2 rich air from inside the tent, runs through a 3 foot solid 6" duct loop outside (to cool it) then back into the tent. I no longer worry about temps or humidity, and the growth rate is quite good. Probably as good as my former method. I now only go into the tent every 3 days. This will definitely be my system for winter grows when humidity and temps are low.
 
Schtiggy well done mate .told ya the beans will grow strong from start to finish under led .very good stuff.keep up the good work mate.and ur bang on the 4th node gives u 8 solid colas but if u wait 2 weeks after topping then begin lst u can turn 8 colas into 16 colas and more if u want.all fun and games happy growing;)

Canad im excited for ya mate.ur gna really enjoy goilath.i have noticed my plants have a more perky look to them leafs praying happy and the light is about 3 foot away from the plants. Something i never seen happen with basic leds.and growth seems alot more mean and faster.so im very pleased so far.happy growing;)
 
The only issue I have with my current Mars pro cree256 is that it won't cover a 5x5 area but only a 4x4. So the Goliath really had me sold being able to cover more area. I'll be using the other light to grow autos in a 3x3 where it will be put to better use.
 
Sounds like you really like that new light. It should be all it can be, in a tent of your size. Hell from the looks of it,,, you couldn't fit even a candle in there..... I, being an old dog' and don't take to new things easily, have even been thinking of trying a led for my veg tent. I usually run a 600 watt MH for veg. I don't think LED's wood be the ticket in the flower room. I don't think LED's put out enough in the way of penetration to use for up to 6' of plant. But in tents, they should be really nice. I run the 1500 watt Master Blaster HID's on light rails in the flower room. One day if I ever get a new upgraded main power box, I'm going to run a spilt A/C and up to 4, 1500 watters without the rails.
I know they aren't the best but I was looking at Mars 'Mars Hydro. Figure two wood about do it. Well, I might ask Santa for acouple of them just to play around with.

Beast can you elaborate on this? Topping just above the 4th node (2 pair leaves) nets you 8. After that you lost me...

How are we getting to 16 with lst? We tied down the 8, and 8 more will shoot up?
 
Canad will do u proud.my tent is 100 cm x 100cm and 200cm height. So just over 3ft by 3ft.goliath sits in there perfect and plants growing fast;)
 
Infinite yea top at 4th node or above for the best amount of colas. So here is think big auto when i toped her

then i tied down the side branches,the begin of lst

by tying down the plant all other growth then thinks it is a dominant growth and will grow straight up to the light,then every day u tie down the side growth again until ur happy with the amount of growth.then u end up with many colas like this;)

Thank you for info on the auto topping. My first AK auto went too fast for me into bloom so I had no time in searching for when to top exactly. "One day she was little" and then boom.. off she went. Next round is 2 AK Autos so now I know when to cut and will be ready:thanks:
 
Bird thanks so much .all is going great so im very happy.and topping autos is easy when u know how. And the more u mess with autos the more u find out about them.then it becomes natural.i know how autos react in everyway now and know what to do and when as to what shape or structure of auto i want to grow . so my own experiments and findings its all been worth it.and pics dont lie;) happy growing every1;)
