Spimps NLxBB Auto Micro CFL's 2013

congrats on the win, looks like we both got some very nice prizes coming to us, cant wait to get my hands on them,

with the comment about the lights on the last page, the outdoor flood lights are just 150watt hps lights and they come in their own like hood type thing, their suppose to sit on the ground and shine up the side of a building or a church, hotel or something similar, as long as its a hps floodlight then its just a standard hps with an enclosed hood, these will run cooler than the open hood type, plus the floodlight hps lights are much cheaper, but you would need to find a way of hanging them as the hood and bulb and ballast is one unit so it would all need mounting, but it would also keep the heat up top as the ballast is enclosed in the hood, their just 150watt hps flood lights, im pretty sure they was around £25 out of toolstation type places.

Do we get a chunk of the bud if we voted for you?

That nug decided to end her own life. She jumped off a high glass cliff to her demize in the bottom of a pool of water. A fire caused her to panic and jump. But she made one hell of a splash. I attempted to give mouth to bong resuscitation But she was weak and pale as it seemed the fire had been too much. My eyes watered in her absense and it was hard to breath for a moment.
RIP Grapefruit. Gone but not forgotten.
:rip:

Congratulations on winning Nug of the Month - August 2013!

Thank you Thank you! :Namaste:

Our relationship with each other is ok. Spimpette loves me very much. Ive been a big idiot at times and she has stayed strong. Its the size of the shovel needed to fill in the whole thats an issue. But (insert your favorite idol here, mines billy.) will provide.
:)

It has to be light enough for Spimpette to lift, but heavy enough to get the job done.

Well, I don't watch TV talent shows,

but I'm glad you have a strong woman who can put up with you.

God knows it can't be easy :xmas:

It will all work out for you both, You just have to keep on trying :circle-of-love:

My wife says I'm very trying :scratchinghead:

so these digital ballasts are dimmable, does the dimmer come installed on the ballast or can this be bought after, my digital ballast is not dimmable, its just a 400watt mh/hps digital ballast, i got no option to lower or increase power past 400watts,

all i know is that mine runs hotter than 400 watts, im sure its running around 440 watts in total as most ballasts run hotter than they are graded, so a 1000watt ballast will be running slightly more than the 1000watts, the cheaper ballasts are the ones causing the problems as they dont run at 100%, so they run at lower watts than stated, so a cheap 400watt ballast might run at around 350watts, this is what causes problems with plant growth as the bulbs are produced to run at certain temps and the gasses inside produce the correct spectrum only when their running at the correct watt, so if a ballast is not pushing out 400watts then the bulb is not putting out the correct spectrum as temps are not where they need to be and the gasses dont give out the same light

The first ballast were magnetic and propriatory of MH or HPS. They couldn't fire the other type of bulb at all. They were crazy loud and because they were bsically a huge capacitor, they could kill you hours after being unplugged. The first gen of digital was crap too. It still could onlyt fire one bulb type. Then big companys like lumatek introduced the convertable and switchable(120-240v) for 2ng gen. 3rd gen are the most popular and prevelant now. These fire both bulb typs and are dimable. The 4th gen from lumatek has a feature to dial it up to 110% power as well as dimable. There are also company out there that have ballast that will fire morethan one wattage of bulb. A 1000w ballast thats fires 600w HPS and MH as well.
All the dimmers are installed on the unit.
The problem is this: The major ballast companies rate thier products "under" wattage and the cheaper ones list the highest end. A 1000w name brand ballas vs a 1000w ipower are not the same. This is why most cheaper lines always say there stuff ballast and bulbs work best together. They dont want you throwing in a good 1000w bulb you have already used and see the brightness difference. Plus we all know that a bigger motor doign less work last more than a smaller motor working its ass off for the sam results.
But for most of us, even the 3rd gen cheapo's on ski-bay are pretty good and viable. For a situation like a 10-1000w mega grow lighta thon, pay the price for the best and it will pay you back in return.
