Spimps NLxBB Auto Micro CFL's 2013

stabilized chaos is all we can hope for.

We are not growing anything.

We are tending plants.

They are growing us.

Good weed, Spimp.

I'm glad you have stabilized your chaos :xmas:

Man, so deep. Hit me right in the face *slap*... :adore: I love that perception.

Reminded me of when I had my wife take my second dog to training. I was really trying to have her trained because I knew the dog was trained. :)

Happy Frieday Spimp:)

NLxBB recieved water+FFTB 2t/gal+molasess. Again, ratio. As you can see, she is a beast to be in a micro ghetto CFL grow. It kinda makes me sad because I think a good HID grower coulda got a half pound or more off of her and Ill be lucky to get an oz. Looks liek a really nice strain.
You can notcie the damage to the top bud on some of those crappy pics. It worse in person. Doesnt look too too bad, but compared to the other budsites you can tell there is damage. I may have to remove 2-5 leaves to expose some of the inner buds. This was a spontanious SCRoG and my first attempt, but Now I kinda understand alittle more for the next one.

:circle-of-love:

dont worry about the pistils mate, these die off late in flower anyway, so as long as its just pistil damage then i would not worry to much, no pistils just means the plant cant take in any pollen and produce seeds, the buds will still develop as normal,

so take a few steps back from the cliff, check out how much moving air you got in your grow space, i was using cfls and well over 400 actuall watts with 23 and 30 watt cfls, i had around 15 to 20 cfls all above and hanging down the sides of the plants, i kept my lights within 2 inches of the plants and sometimes as little as 1 inch,

the main issue you might be having is lack of moving air, if the air is just sitting their and not been recirculted then the heat will build up, if this was a hps then the plant would be fried, so try and make sure you got enough air moving around, its ok having a nice confined space but you tend to have problems with heat build up at canopy level,

an option open to you and an option i took was to rig up 2x 12v computer fans blowing across the tops of the plants, you need movement of air at the canopy, you also need movement of air to move co2 over the plants,

so id rig up a fan so its blowing across the canopy, once this is done their will be no further issues, the heat is just building up by the sounds of it and the fans your using are not creating enough pressure to move air into and out of the grow space, this is whats causing the problem, the exhaust fan is not creating a vac and sucking air over the plants through the inlet, so you have sort of got dead air so to speak, you need the air moving around all the time, this is why people in bigger grow spaces use big fans, you need the movement of air to stop heat build up and it also stops any pm issues, with no moving air you will very easily got bud rot,

so if possible rig up 1 or 2 small fans, i just use 12v computer fans wired up to an adapter and i had these blowing across the tops of the plants, this was enough to get my cfls pretty much touching the plants, i could keep the grow door shut as long as the fans where running, the main problem you have is that you dont have much space above the plants, i had floor to ceiling height so the hot air was rising away from the plants, not having much space above the plants means the hot air dont have anywhere to the heat is just building up,

but for now i wouldnt worry about the pistils, if its just damaged the pistils then its not a big issue, the pistils die towards the end of flower and they die when they get pollen on them, so they plant will develop just fine with no pistils, the pistils are their just to take in pollen and help feed the calyx once its been pollenated,

so at this stage dont worry to much, just check air flower, check temp at canopy of the plants and not just in the grow space, you need the temp gauge near the plants and level with the top of the plants this will give you an accurate temp, but im pretty sure you main problem is lack of air flower across the top of the plant, you need the air moving so try and rig up a fan so their is a nice breeze across the plant/s, if their is not then you are at huge risk of pm issues and this only means plenty of bud rot, something we all try and avoid

The micro-ghetto-scrog is cool man... might try adding one of those cheap @$$ 12-14v square LED flower booster lights... PotChimp said he does notice a difference when he has it in with his HPS, so it would probably give a little more weight to your CFLs without any heat issues... just a thought to keep it on the cheap and in the small space :)

I think you're rockin it pretty good with what your using man :goodjob: :Namaste:

Yes sir. just kinda replied on Alex's journal  But yes all thing you have said are good advice. +reps sir. :)

Our dfinition of cheap may be different  Ive considered something like that but have no knowledge to even speak too much on it. Do you mean like the 90w flower things?

LOL, nope, I mean the cheap square ones... they run like $35 - $45, sometimes you'll catch them in the $20s on the bookstore mall online or the auction site... the 90w UFO I wouldn't buy unless I could get it for less than $75 with shipping as you can get good 135w UFOs that use 3w chips, much much better for between $105 - $175 for good brands. I found a manufacturer the other night while researching that has good reviews and good prices and good warranties called TaoTronics and I'll be trying out some of their lights... they have a 180w 3x2 ft optimal coverage for $200.

im pretty sure led's will be the future,
its going to be super soil and led's, super soil will be sold in bags at most stores and led's will get cheaper and cheaper and better and better.
led's have come far even just over the last couple of years, so as more gowers invest in them the more the makers will spend on development and its only a matter of time before the prices comes down and the amount of light produced goes up,
due to the heat levels it would be easy to have leds above the plant and down the sides of the grow room, so im pretty sure its only a matter of time before someone comes up with a led grow tent,

their may be one for sale all ready but ive not checked, but basically im thinking along the lines of a grow tent with all the led's with it, led's that are height adjusted above the plants then panels that hang down the sides, plus all you would need to do is flick a switch and it would change the led's from veg schedule to flower schedule, so no swapping bulbs/ballasts and risking damaging the plants, you would not need to change anything,

using super soil all you would do is add water and nothing else till harvest, oh you might need to set the time but of course this would come included, so water and flick a switch when you flip the lights to 12-12,

i will go down the led root at some point and possibly just try them in a veg room at first, when they first came out they had mixed reviews but most where from bad companies in china, (im not saying all that comes from china is crap because their basically the leaders in electronics and in led's most shops buy stock from china, but their is some rip off companies set up selling really poor quality) now led's are really doing doing a good job and with very little heat.

i know if i had the money id invest time and money into making a grow tent in various sizes that came with everything you needed for an led grow,

if i could buy super soil i would, my only option is to make it, but as soon as super soil takes off it will be all over the place, then the nutrient companies will be mixing their own super soil, so im sure its only a matter of time before we all have easy access to super soil.

till then i use blue planet nutrients and would more than recomend blue planet nutrients to any growers, i would not use anything else, plus corey at bpn really does know his stuff.

What are these cheap square ones you speak of sir? $30-50 bucks i may be able to spring if it adds weight. Ive seen some at bLowes that are edison style screw in lights that say PAR38 that looked interesting, but once again I am behind technology in regards to LED's.

ive even seen the strip light replacement leds, in the diy store near me they sell led replacements like spimp is on about, but i seen some that are like 5ft and 6ft long led replacements for them long flo lights,

i know very little about led's but ive been interested in them for a while, been watching several vids on the vid site, the results seem to be pretty good now, jon uses led's in his journal and is testing some from one of the sponsors if i remember right

Im follwing BID's grow with the topled light. I Want to learn more about tem as well. The heat and ballast issue is my biggest concern about investing in a tent setup. Unless this NLxBB swells up ALOT and I get some weight, Im looking to make a change. I cant run 3 months for 14g's every grow... Id be growing nonstop year round and still not have enough to smoke.

What you need, Spimp, is a long ghetto grow.

Same height, double the length= double the yield.

Flatgrowing using the "Let Spimp Try" method :xmas:

Ive been 100% thinking this same thing!! :high-five:

I may have to ghetto up a planter and make it shorter but fill th entire space. Then take a photo seed and start filling it up! This auto is probably 24-30 inches from stem to stern an with a photo i could top and/or Fim.
:hmmmm: It looks like by the pace of this auto, its not going any faster than my first photo gals...
Heres my seedbank currently:
3- transiberian auto fem
2 blue mammoth auto fem
1- afgan kush special fem photo. freebie
^bought seeds.
2-sour disiel bagseed
2-GDP bagseed
1- afgan fluff* bagseed *he called it afgan, I added fluff because it was some fluffy nugs
20ish random brickbud seeds.

If I do a photo next Im learning towards the GDP. I know its like 1% its actual GDP, but it was purple, tassty, and potent as hell. :) But Im realy leaning towards a transiberian. Mostly cause i like mixing it up and its one of my new ones

Just dropped you a PM with a link.. it's not a sponsor, so didn't want to drop it publicly... I don't necessarily mean the specific brand, so much as the style... the price seems to be pretty standard in the $30s range right now on these style units.

+reps for the info sir!
Hard not to take a $40 chance that could mean more weight. Ill have to heavily consider this. Has anyone ever seen anything on the PAR38 bulbs you see at home improvement stores?
:Namaste:
