Sour OG Clones Indoor Soil, 2017

Hey you remember when I broke my biggest and tallest top 8 Days ago. Well, I was checking on it today and the tape just fell off. I wasn't able to do a full inspection but I'd say the branch is healing itself up nicely. Got a nice fat knuckle formed up, I remember reading up about bending limbs and knuckles tops etc. It's a great article about creating an internal wound in the plant that results in multiple tops forming from one injury sight. You do it by gently pinching, rolling, bending the stalk while the plant is still young. It does produce some cool knuckles, joints, etc, but it's more risky. But hey here's the proof any idiot can do it, after all I did it by accident. And I damn near ripped the top off the plant!!!

You da man. Age. Good job on that. :bravo:

Well here we are, a mere 16 hours later and I've got some more pictures and news too. I couldn't wait any longer, I went in to check the soil and it was just too dry. I shoved my finger into her deep and she was dry (I'm sure it didn't hurt too much). I decided to feed Mary and Dolly. Almost an entire gallon between the two of them and hardly any run off. They took it all!!! I felt up Mary's knuckle and she is indeed completely healed, I think she may want a ring at this point... These two continue to stretch and I had to raise the lights up again because the thermometer was reading into the mid 80's. I'm trying to keep my grow room colder to simulate a colder season, trying to play on those survival instincts of the plant (who knows, right?) The lights are 17.5"s above the tops. The buds are starting to get noticeably bigger although you guys may not notice the differences as much.

Now for the news. After several minutes (up to 30) over a couple of days I've decided which top will be my first clone. I didn't necessarily look for the biggest strongest top, instead I looked at the plant and how it is growing. I selected a top that will work as a good defol as well. The clone will still come off when it's ready and in the meantime I've got a great container for it, I'm going to just do the one for now and attempt to set up a Sea Of Green, where I will be able to harvest at least a plant per month. It would seem I'll be needing to make a drying/ cure area for my yields. An Idea hit me while I was in the garage and I think I've got a perfect spot where I can build a cabinet for storing nutes, various supplies, and a place for the final phase (second to last phase...)

Cheers and enjoy your Saturday!!!

The new biggest top on Mary, the broken one had to slow down.

The future clone with the looped twist tie. The potential is endless!

Agemon the Planner!

Good stuff buddy. Will be watching your cloning :high-five:

I've always been a planner, prolly has something to do with always being early. Dad engrained that into me...

I'd rather be early than late as well. But planning? I am the worlds best planner. My problem is following through, especially when more interesting things pop up along the way.
:)

Those leaves look really green and healthy, can't wait to see the yield!
Do you have a system for defoliating or do you just cut the larger fan leaves down?

In this case i was just taking off the big generators. I wasnt kidding when i said i wanted to slow the plant down. Typically a defol is gonna be for a specific purpose, flatten the canopy, eliminate under growth that is taking away from flower production up higher.

Do i have a system? Yes, less is more. Take a little today then maybe a little more tomorrow. See how your plant is growing and trim accordingly.

I like it, people used to tell me in my younger years "you can always do more but you can't do less" funny how advice circles around .

She really cleans up nicely, my friend! :bravo:

So I could be wrong but i feel like I've read that you have some experience with cloning, just wondering after the plant came out off the humidity dome did the growth seem kinda slow? How long till she started growing at her regular pace? My first clone ever to survive seems to be frozen in place, there's been a very small amount of growth and her leaf tips are turning yellow even though she has only gotten straight water. I put her in the window for natural sunlight because i don't have anywhere else for her, but thinking at night it may get to cold and stunt her growth.

There was a fan leaf on the right i ended up picking off, it started to yellow at the tip and eventually the whole thing withered and died, almost like what you see during late flowing when plant it's using fan leaves nutrients.

Yes i noticed a transition phase, the plant just came out a high humidity, prolly close to 90%, environment. It got all the water it could ask for from the leaves. You've effectively put the brakes on. It took about two weeks for mine, one out of the dome. If it has roots youre golden, just keep her with light nutes and some water. I used Super Thrive to stimulate more root growth. Just one drop per cup, shes still Phf rah geel Ayy!!

K Leo, I will take a stab at this, risking putting foot in mouth. Unlike fresh seedlings from the seed, clones would not be self sustaining for the first short period. So I would guess, and that's all it is, a guess, that clones would need some nutes right from the start.
And I'm prepared to duck if I'm mistaken :)

Well everybody I pulled the trigger and made a clone, well snipped a potential clone. I decided today would be good because I gave a healthy dose of water and a full dose of CalMag last night. Here's what I did. First I laid out everything I was gonna need, I want as little stress on the plant as possible. Then I sterilized my scissors with rubbing alcohol and I found the next plant I'm going to grow then snipped closely to the main stalk. I placed the clipping directly into a cup of water, I then clipped a second time at 45 degree angle while holding the stem underwater (this is to prevent air bubbles in the capillaries of the plant). I then removed the clipping from the water and placed it directly into the CloneX, and then into the Root Riot Cube. I had some Jiffy Pots laying around so I threw the root cube into that for some stability and I'll be able to see if/when the roots poke through. I placed the entire contraption into my sealed container and sprayed some water. I had also poured just a small amount into the bottom as well, before I started. I also added Super Thrive to the water to help stimulate root growth. I didn't do a full pictography of the process as it's pretty straight forward.
