Sorenna's - 2015 - THC Bomb Auto & Strawberry Blue - Soil - LED

re: Sorenna's - 2015 - THC Bomb (Auto) & Strawberry Blue - Soil - LED

Speaking of drooping. I caught Thelma doing the same thing Ive seen other plants do right before lights out. Her leaves were a little droopy, like she was so sleepy she couldnt keep her leaves up anymore. Another thing I noticed when I opened the tent zipper.. a faint whiff of skunk. Woot! Where I live we have skunks even here in town. I smell them all the time. So at first, I didnt attribute that smell to my lovely girls, but now its undeniable.

*happy dances*

Im glad I posted that profile shot of her. While I was admiring her, I got the impression that there is leafy growth at the nodes. This photo is too blurry to really see, so I went to look. She *does* have leafy growth at each node. The leaves are very tiny, but they are most definitely there! WooHoo!

Have I mentioned that I really love her? :green_heart:

I pull that curtain back every morning and I'm so excited to see her it's ridiculous! :laughtwo::green_heart:

Not the typical reaction to a plant is it?

re: Sorenna's - 2015 - THC Bomb (Auto) & Strawberry Blue - Soil - LED

I woke up this morning and my very first thought when my feet hit the floor was... Now I can see her again! But then Mother Nature called and so Thelma had to wait a couple of minutes. haha

Its probably not normal, but no one has ever accused me of being normal, so Im good with that. haha

Thelma - Day 17

Hello, my friends. I hope yall had a happy day. Mine was pretty okay. My lovely little Thelma is making my smile get bigger and bigger. She stinks. Weee! Shes growing. Woot! She is starting to grow alot! Woot! Woot! I wasnt gonna take a picture of her, but when I saw her, I had to. haha She seems to be really putting in some overtime on her center. I see all kinds of new growth in there, just from yesterday. (If its my over-active imagination, dont tell me. Let me have my little fantasy, okay?) :clown:

I tried to get another side view, but with more emphasis on the nodes and the tiny little leaves there, but that pot is on the floor, and the Bomb still hasnt quite cleared the top of the pot, so its very difficult to get in there and get a picture of it. Also, my old bones dont like the floor, too far down, and too far to get upright again.

Anyway, she got a 1/4 turn and her daily dose of music. Temps are good, RH is good.

Im pretty sure my tent is my new happy place.

Bye yall!

Thelma - Day 18

There is really isnt much to report today. Thelma is lovely and green. A bit taller today, I think, but basically she looks exactly the same. I gave her pot a little twist, 1/4 of the way around. Music and love for her and pride for me. Im a happy camper.

I am getting ready to do the first feeding on Day 21, in 3 days. I cant quite wrap my mind around how Im gonna do it, since the FoxFarm feeding schedule starts when they are seedlings. I opted not to start the feeding then, but to wait until week 3. Do I start as if they were seedlings at Week 1 on the chart or do I start at Week 3 on the chart and just ignore what it says for the first 2 weeks? I dont know if I should give them just the Big Bloom or if I should use Big Bloom + Grow Big.

Presently, I am planning to feed them once per week at 1/4 strength. I have never fed any sort of plant anything, so I know nothing. lol Do I use the 1/4 strength for just the first feeding and then on the next one go up to 1/2 strength, eventually hitting full strength? Or do I just do 1/4 to up to 1/2 strength for the duration? I will be adding in Tiger Bloom too, but later, because I get the impression that is for the flowering stage.

Any comments, particularly from FoxFarm users, would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

re: Sorenna's - 2015 - THC Bomb (Auto) & Strawberry Blue - Soil - LED

haha.. Theres not enough room for me in there, plus two 5 gallon pots, a light, and a fan, but if there was, Id soo be in there. So I content myself with just opening it up and peeking in. I find myself more and more poking my nose in there just because I like the smell. :)

Woot for Loopy Lou! I cant wait to see her! So cool. Im tickled pink. :thumb:

re: Sorenna's - 2015 - THC Bomb (Auto) & Strawberry Blue - Soil - LED

At this stage she doesn't really need a whole lot of nutes, so what I did for my first feed was use 1/4 of only Big Bloom. I think that ends up being 1/2 tsp per gallon. I don't have the chart in front of me though. You can follow along the schedule but start now with week one, and then don't count your alternate straight waterings as a week. So if you feed on the 21st and then say water again on the 25th, when you feed again it would be week 2 still.

It can get kinda confusing down the road when you forget what week your on feeding wise, but most of the feeds are the same (or close enough) until you get to flower

re: Sorenna's - 2015 - THC Bomb (Auto) & Strawberry Blue - Soil - LED

Thanks UltraDan. May I ask at what point did you start the feedings? I dont really think Ill get lost in the weeks, because I will update this journal every day even if I have nothing really to say for that day. If only to keep myself reminded of exactly where we are. I have a very bad case CRS, so I have to write everything down.

re: Sorenna's - 2015 - THC Bomb (Auto) & Strawberry Blue - Soil - LED

CRS?

I had to look back at my journal to see when I first fed. lol. I gave 1/2 strength of Big Bloom 11 days after sprout right as the 3rd set of leaves were coming in. Probably a little earlier than I should have, but she seemed to have taken it fine.

Okay, awesome. Sounds like a plan to me. Start week 1 nutrients at week 3. Thanks!

re: Sorenna's - 2015 - THC Bomb (Auto) & Strawberry Blue - Soil - LED

Hello Db003. Lovely to have you join us! Im really liking my light so far. Im wondering however if it might have been better to start them for the first couple of weeks under CFLs. I think maybe next time thats the way I will start them, but certainly no complaints from me on this start in regards to the growth under the Mars Hydro light.

I made a mistake when I first started this journal, thinking that the Strawberry Blue was an autoflower strain. I quickly realized, however, that it is indeed a photo. So, I have one photo and one auto. lol Leave it to me change my simple first time grow into something a bit less simple.

Anyways, glad to have you here. Ill skip over to your journal in a while and see what you have going on.

Thelma and Louise - Day 19

Hi yall! Im kinda walking on sunshine today. I do believe Mizz Louise is going to survive despite me. I check her everyday for improvement and for the last couple of days, her new growth seemed to be a bit bigger, but I wasnt sure. Today, I am sure. Shes growing, slowly, but she is growing. In light of that, I took away her support and then I added about 1/2 of inch of fresh soil to the top to support her. It worked. She is sitting upright like nothing ever happened, with no extra support. Im am ecstatic! Although, I know I will have to watch her now that Ive stressed her out so much to be sure she doesnt hermie on me. I know that will happen only a while down the road. I can wait. Shes such a trooper.

I blamed Louises poor start on her small seed, thinking that she might just be a barely viable seed. I have changed my stance and believe the fault was mine because I didnt plant her deep enough from the start. I think the roots started at the very surface of the soil and thats why she fell over. What I thought was a skinnier place in her in her stem was actually the start of her taproot that should have been under the soil. So, that means I am barely a viable grower. haha. Lesson learned. Do not plant too shallow.

Thelma is still the beautiful, well behaved girl shes always been. :) I see fresh growth in her center and I actually have a question about that. Her new growth is a much lighter green than the older growth. Is that normal? Ill post a picture of it in real colors below.

The soil is drying out very nicely. The top is pretty dry, thats what I was hoping for. I stuck my finger inside the soil up to my second knuckle and can still feel plenty of moisture below. I believe they will be ready for a drink in 2 days time when I give them their first feeding. So that worked out. Yay!

Thelma - This is the photo where you can see the lighter new growth.

re: Sorenna's - 2015 - THC Bomb (Auto) & Strawberry Blue - Soil - LED

I believe that the lighter new growth is normal both my plants have lighter new growth and they are getting pretty large already when first seen your journal I thought the Strawberry Blue was a photo it was a freebie from herbies right? I almost was going to start my grow with seeds from herbies but I got some clones from my local mmj clinic and I am so happy I did my clones are only three going on for weeks old and are massive I am going to veg for about a week or two more and switch to bloom as so as I get my bloom nutes I am glad to hear that your plants are bouncing back
:goodluck:

re: Sorenna's - 2015 - THC Bomb (Auto) & Strawberry Blue - Soil - LED

Great to see louise back up and searching for that light again, they are looking great Sorenna :goodjob:
Got my light setup today, even though i went with their 100x3w base model, the quality is great and i can actually feel the difference from the light compared to the CFL's im currently running. My Cheese was started under CFL's but my THC Bomb will be only under LED so it will be a good test to see the difference in rate of growth between the lights, only time will tell :Namaste:

I actually thought that lighter growth was normal, but I wanted to ask because bad things happen when I start doing my own thinking. Yes, the Strawberry Blue, Louise, is a freebie from Herbies. I intended to order from the Herbies autoseeds website and thought that was the one I bookmarked, but I bookmarked the regular one instead and ordered my autos. Thats why I thought the seed was an auto. If I had ordered from the actual autoseeds site, the freebie would have been an auto. You see what happens when I think? lol

re: Sorenna's - 2015 - THC Bomb (Auto) & Strawberry Blue - Soil - LED

Looking great! It's normal for new growth to be lighter and darken up in 3-5 days.

Sweet! Thank you! :thanks:
