Some Old Guy's Soil Grows

I just saturated them the day before so yep they were still damp. This soil mix has cow manure compost in it and my first grow I used mushroom compost and didn't get a one using that lol its weird right.

I just had to throw up a pic real quick, good morning all PpP

I was out an aboot and found my local organic grower supplier, I dont think I can promote them by name here but I found my FF Ocean Forest soil mix for a little bit more than half of what I found online. I couldn't get 3 cubic feet of Happy Frog so I got some "mom earth terracraft" for seedlings, real low numbers far as nutrients go. I'll be set for the next beans to drop.
Yeah I know right, I got done resetting everything and moving it to the final setup and it looked awesome enough to satiate my ego lol to post a pick..not vain at all. I'm hoping those walls disappear behind green walls of colas.

I love your setup mate! Looking very nice certainly. I imagine that you’re much more accessible to the plants than you would be in a tent yes?
It's my basement, looking to the south side wall. The tables are 35" wide setting 18in off the floor, perfect for autoflower plants but the nearest ones are bag seed photos so I need to get them lower. The whole thing is 5 feet by 10 feet by 6'-6". Its a bit of extra expense to keep the environment in the range plants need since our season is changing now. A tent/s is down the road but I need more headroom than my basement has. This black Friday I'm going to try and get a new light. Emilya has a new one from MH that would just about double what I have now and be dimmable as well. I dont know I'd I'll get the 400 dollar one but the 260 one is just to good to pass up, little less power I think and maybe it doesn't have daisy chain controls.

I repotted one of the pairs of photos into a 7 gallon planter.

I used the ocean farm straight out of the bag and got it stacked up as high as I could. I dont plan on redoing any other plants right now.

As this all goes along I've reached that midway decision point about what these photos are doing in my autoflower grow. They'd probably make great clones. I dont have any one to take them if I did and I have no desire for high volume production. They haven't shown any signs of being males or females yet and they are 8 weeks old under 18/6. I plan to super crop all of them in a couple weeks. I just got the MC ferts and been pumping it into everything and the shit cant work fast enough for me lol but I think I see some changes at 4 gram dose and about 12oz on each so far after just a couple days. Bags are still heavy from last watering but tomorrow is on schedule so some of them will be there so they'll get a full saturation with the MC for the first time.

Well definitely don’t give up on the photos until you gender them. But if they become too much of a hassle do what you must to be fair to the smaller plants :) your environment is great based on your thermometer I see, and I’m just thinking such a setup might be great for me because my legs don’t work as nice as they used to anymore.. bending over and working in a tent is painful. I love tents for sure but good setup. Have a great Sunday mate

Not so much a schedule at all, still weighing them and tipping on the 4th day. So I'm really checking on the 5th day for moisture and it's at the top of the dry end. After that mild week we had here in Illinois last week, they took 2 days longer only one was ready today, the other I didn't even wet spray the top.

I thought there would be a schedule lol but I realized way back that wasn't the case especially since I'm not using the best controlled environment, I will keep using the plant to tell me what's up.

I've been seeing these on most of these photos

Those have to be preflower pistols. Theres no sign of any white hairs, but the cupped like shell is there. There isnt much sign anywhere else on the upper growth that my old eyes can pick out and at 18/6 they wont ever flip completely being photos. I think I got really lucky and got some feminized baggie seeds. Counting back solid they are in week 8 from sprouting and going in the big pots. Another 2 weeks is a good solid 8 weeks of 'veg' at 18/6. The autos..well they are trying and I got two extra from the baggie seeds the Skywalker and what was supposed to be Gelato exactly what I have waiting for the next round.
@Hyperionloader I know that feeling, bending over is not optional if I haven't done my tincture. The relief is amazing with no chronic agony or having that addiction feeling from pharma, nothing compares. I would say 18 inches high might be a little low, if I had 8 foot ceilings I'd bring it up maybe to 2 feet off the floor.

Looks fem to me :D and yes you are right, at 18/6 they will never truly flip but they WILL eventually show pistils :)

and thank you for responding regarding the struggle of bending over :ganjamon: I hope you don’t mind if I use your setup as a template for my walk in closet! My legs and back can’t handle much more of dealing with my grow tent

have a good Monday and a great week mate keep up the good work your garden is beautiful

Just passing through; please forgive if this has already been covered.

any chance you could score some pure old school indica seeds?

Do you recommend a supplier for those indicas?

Sensi Seeds' Black Domina (available in regular and feminized versions... regular might be better, IDK). I don't know if you'd consider it to be an "old-school" strain; it's only been around since 1996. It's been called things like heavily narcotic, newbie crippler, and day ender. The strain is a four-way cross of Northern Lights, Ortega Indica, Hash Plant, and an Afghani called "SA" - so it's about as indica as it gets. Heavy yields of dense/hard buds, and an early finisher. Get comfortable before smoking a joint of it, because you might wake up in the same spot the next morning, lol.

Last time I checked, Sensi still wasn't shipping to the USA. However, any decent seed vendor that carries multiple breeders' strains should have them (including at least two of the ones on our sp0nsors list).

I was having some humidity problems

Had a thought about RH in my grow. We're switching on the central heat now and this room has a vent that delivers heated air to it. I have watched the RH take a downward trend into the low 40s and even at 40% I brought it up easily enough with just a wet towel hanging on my fan. But, the air is just sucking up the moisture and its barely above 50%.

Check to make sure the humidifier on your furnace is functioning properly and that the control on it isn't set to 20% RH or the like. Also that no one has unplugged it (if it's not hardwired) to use the electrical outlet for something else, thinking, "I'll plug that back in before it gets cold enough to worry about it." Mine is the drum type, attached to the start of the duct run, and the stuff on the rotating drum appears to be shot (but I can't afford to run extra electric/water stuff here, anyway, lol). I guess they wear out / get eaten / IDK, and occasionally have to be replaced with a new... whatever you call them. Drum covers? Drum sponges? Electromechanical Humidification Device Media Refill, Mark III? Might be a place to add a few drops of oil to the motor on it. And check to make sure the little saddle valve tapped into the nearest cold water line hasn't been turned off for some reason (and isn't leaking out all the water before it gets to the humidifier). That's how mine is set up, but it's an older furnace. If you've got a new(ish) one, it might be configured differently, but the basic operation ought to be the same.

Thanks @TorturedSoul ,There was at one time a humidifier installed on our furnace. I could probably figure out how to reattach it but as of right now I'm keeping a pot heating on the stove lol and using the diy swamp cooler in the grow room. It's a little under/over 50% while lights are on at 77f. I can get it higher just moving the swamp cooler in front of my heater, it keeps the water warmer rather than just a fan blowing on room temp tray of water and a felt pad hanging up.
I have flowering plants in the same area as vegging photos that I'm about to flip so I guess its working out for now. I ordered an inkbird itc306 temperature controller today to run my heater. There's to much fluctuations between when the main house heat runs and inside the grow room. From low 70s to upper 80s in a few minutes. I'll use one outlet for the heater and the other for a vent fan. I spared all expenses lol when I slapped it together, theres no finished insulated walls and way to much wood exposed without paint or sealed.

Not a doubt Shed, I've already picked one up and tried it. It's like the 1000 square foot basement outside my 5x10 sucks the moisture right out as soon as the outside RH drops from the cold air moving in. I'm leaning towards moving it all upstairs in my extra room with finished walls right. My basement stays pretty constant around 60 but it will drop the farther along winter goes and I am probably reaching that tipping point of expense over return of yield trying to keep that balance. I'll have to price out the best option to seal the area better, I was thinking some heavy mill plastic sheeting in a big roll. I think it might work. But for sure the unpainted wood is absorbing a lot of moisture..first world problems lol
Hey I hope to pass along this photo evidence

To convince new growers not to use cheap 50$ blurple lights the three smaller plants on either side of the larger one sprouted under one of those "2000 Watt Full Spectrum" unicorns lol The tall one sprouted under my Mars Hydro 600s which are full spectrum and the real deal for money you spend. To get better you will have to go with HID which is cheaper hardware wise but will create a few other problems that can come along with using them and have to be dealt with at added expense.
Now a little bit of frost
20201117_091949.jpg

On a cold Illinois day.

I know right, it cuts the air off from the bottom of the bags. Ok yeah I left them so the run off soaks in, not much and got lazy today lol
I tell ya I'm getting an itchy finger to place an order for this new light waiting for black Friday prices.

The tiny auto is stacking and taking the new MC nutes well. I have noticed a color shift on my LST since I gave it a saturation with MC, its getting darker green. The fim got saturated today and it's been getting a lighter green the past couple weeks. I stopped feeding it the old MG. Maybe I'll get some stretch out them after I flip to flower these photos. Those are clipping right along bushing out, they had already been saturated last week.
So I've been shopping around for some new LED lights, waiting for black Friday deals. I have the four MH ts600s, which I learned are not as strong in the red band as I thought. So between the longer bar or larger square for flowering a 3x5, two tsw1000s would be about 250watts..not much more than I already have. Two tsw2000s is what uh 200x2 so 400 watts and that's much more to flower under in that size I think. Having more light than I need seems pretty enlightening lol
