SoilGirl's Soil Multi-Strain Grow Journal 2014

Looks like you are a master fluxer by nature! :cheertwo:

I love how perfect your plants are. Great job. :goodjob:
Aw thanks Lester, I've never actually done LST-ing like with Juicy Lucy before, but after her I'm planning on doing lots of LST/HST, hand training, perhaps a DIY scrog or two, Fimming, defol, etc. for controlling my indoor grow. I've never done an actual flux by fluxer's standards, LA is a genius :adore: but the whole bondage concept of it to get more even bud dispersal just seems to work out for me :)

Thank you so much for the compliments and stopping by :hugs: from you it always means a lot! You grow some of the finest herbs I see around Lester, high brixed/washed or not, and I'd totally smoke/vape any bud you would share!..and maybe a couple others when you're not looking..
Well Ill start by saying, you are correct about 420 mag.I learned everything I know from here and do not ever visit any other site's for any reason's.I don't see a reason. This place is my second home and the member's are like family and friend's.We are all part of a big..:circle-of-love:.
Also you made a great choice for lighting.Cant go wrong with Topled. It's been proven to many time's here on 420.:high-five:
Safety First is all way's good thing also.:thumb:Hoping you will never need it,I hope you have a fire extinguisher as part of you grow gear. All grow room's should have one,Imo.
I would love for you to stop in.The more the merrier. Here lately it's been a bit slow,as Im just starting to get back at it again.I had a batch of plant's go booty on me and got in a funk and wasn't posting much.I'm over it now and back it and hope to see there if you get time.I know how it is to be subbed to hundred's of journal's and it take's alot of time to get around.
420 Mag really is a great circle, you're right :circle-of-love: and I'm so happy to be a part of it.

Thank you, I've seen what the Mars 2 1600 can do in a couple other journals, very impressive. I will definitely add a extinguisher to the grow room, thank you for the concern, I forgot to put it in there!

I'll definitely be following your journals, though likely stalking at first ;)

UGH, found another 'looper in Mini-Mama today. Was only about a centimeter long and really skinny, but probably cost me about a gram or 2 of the future harvest, the very tip of the cola was untouched, but 3 bud sites just below were all covered in what looked like a layer of silk... and when picked open, you could see where he'd been wriggling around and munching..
IDK if the silk stuff was the beginning of mold or what, but I treated it like it was... I removed the parts it was on, and drenched them in neem oil.

Arghh.. Never had caterpillar/worm issues before -.- almost didn't even think you could get them in Colorado, as if there were a line of holy water in the sand that just melted them once they entered. serves me right lol. I won't be letting them get the best of me though. I've used MGIS with Spinosad up to harvest before for mites, and I'm going to do it again. It actually is advertised with a caterpillar on the bottle, one of its first listed pests to control with, so that's a bit reassuring. Also I will be trying bud-washing for the first time this outdoor harvest, so I'm not all too worried about any build up of nasties in my buds from the spray - not to mention the half life of the spray is only a day.. what I take that to mean is it bio-degrades really quickly.

Besides my pest issues outdoors, things are going well. My UKH1 and UKH2 clones in the veg room are obviously from a mature and flowering mother. They have at least 20 branches each and aren't even 8 inches tall >.< and they have that tell-tale alternating node structure that comes from flowering clones - not to mention the weirdly mutant 3-tip leaves. They seem to be going through Reveg still, new growth is oddly mutant while the two other clones with them - euphoria and BBK - are exceptionally normal... twin node growth still, normal fan leaves with no mutations, less branchy with nodes that take much longer to get started on becoming branches of their own.
On the UKH1 and UKH2 clones I did a little hand training to the side to open up new growth, and did a lot of HST/defol to get mutant 3-tip fans to stop blocking light from lower nodes.

Just thought I'd share all that. :Namaste:

Edit: Oh by the way. Thinking of Popping a Medicann Blue Blood in some water with a drop of humic acid today; by tomorrow I should be able to take the 2 remaining clones inside the ghetto dome, put them in soil and add them to the veg room... So I can take the CFL they were rooting under and have it for the seed once its ready for the rapid rooter. :) Magical times..

My Dad's been a little discouraging lately though, he's been taking his seizure and blood clot meds, but then going and drowning them in alcohol. It makes me really sad, and part of me thinks he doesn't even want to get better. Not to mention when he gets booze in him he says stupid sh*t like, "I dont even know why you're bothering, that plant isn't just gonna fix me and make me live to be a hundred" ..... it's all very frustrating and honestly I'm pretty upset, though I try not to show it and just talk about other things.
My friend who was going to bring that 125w CFL didn't come down yet, but he might tomorrow...
I'm kind of just feeling trapped right now. Idk how else to say it.

As much as I like living here, growing things, raising our puppies and chickens... its lonely and my Dad hasn't been good company. Sorry guys, didn't mean to get all emo on you... gonna go now, thank you for following as always, I appreciate all of you.

Hang in there girl  Unfortunately never found out how to make parents quit alcohol. My solution to the problem was to run away when I turned 18 :laughtwo: so am not the best person to give any sort of advice, but you can always feel free to PM or come talk about these things with me.
:circle-of-love:

The silk-like-thing is from the caterpillars most likely, and not mold. :high-five:

Sending good vibes your way SG!!:circle-of-love:
Aw thanks Trapr, hope your OHS and Euphoria are doing great over there. :Namaste:

Oh geesh >.< Sorry to hear of the parents' alcohol issues daTz. Not good for any household... Not like weed. You just don't see parents get stoned and turn violent toward each other or their kids. Some people see it every day with alcohol..
I just plain think alcohol is an ugly drug and I hardly drink any.. Turns people into animals.

I'm happy for you that you got out of there though :hugs: thanks so much for the offer, I'll remember it, I was really sad earlier but I just spent some time with my plants and I feel better.

And yeah it probably was just from the dirty little looper >.< oh well. Better safe than sorry haha.
Sending hugs your way! Hang in there Dad will be proud of you when all is said and done. Get that smoke in him and he won't want to drink!
Aw thank you MP :) I'm hanging on, he's just not making it easy right now. That's the goal, and hopefully its going to be achieved. For some reason I'm pretty much always assuming something cataclysmic will happen with my plants right up until harvest, and then still until I have it cured and in jars, and in my bowl ready to smoke lol. Its only once I'm medicated on all my hard work that I realize hey... success :O ;)

One sec gonna do a short update on Big Mama

Ok here's a look at Big Mama's before and after PeeJay's Special Bath pics. Here she is before, (or rather - During) looking about 50 shades of green.

20140829_113839.jpg

And here she is now, looking much more solid green instead of a mosaic of greens and yellows. Also I noticed trichome growth rate increasing immediately aftwerward :)

Thanks to PeeJay and Mr. Teddy! Your posts both helped this happen!! :circle-of-love:

Hey, SG. I'm sorry but not surprised that it's tough sometimes. Wish we were physical neighbours then Mrs T and I would have you over for dinner and laughs. Keep yer pecker up, Girl. On the bright side, good news about big mama. I was just the conduit and PJ the Man. And, my word, you are in control of all those clones and lights and lovely green growing things.

Feel free to PM me anytime. Mr and Mrs Teddy have had some experience with such things in our time.

P.S. Do NOT message me with any questions about growing cannabis. I know nothing. :laughtwo:
:Love::Love::Love:

Very nice! I need a yard so I can grow outside. I thought about doing a couple plants on my patio, but they'd probably get snatched before harvest since we live in a condo. hehe Great grow! :)
Thank you Jake :) welcome to 420 mag, I see you're still new lol. (well... you joined the same month as me... but I've already blabbed 420 Mag's ears right off hahaha) Best of luck getting a decent yard to grow in ;)
Hope you like it here as much as I do! Always nice to see a fellow Coloradan :welcome:
Really nice plant wish i can smell it:yummy:Thanks for reps and keep it green.:hippy:
Thanks and no problem ghaze :) Its odd, since the bath, Big Mama's terpenes seem to have added a fruity smell on top of that hash. Its really interesting how quickly the smell changed :P

Aw thanks so much Mr. Teddy :) that's such a kind gesture; I so wish I could come over for dinner and laughs... especially if you'd be serving some of those fancy british tomatoes ;)

I'm trying to keep that pecker up... too wrong....... pecker makes me think of something I don't have and which makes that statement very wrong.... ok, removing head from gutter. - sorry for that lapse in respectable conversation guys lol - even when I try to avoid them its like a black hole pulling me back... Hahahaha, oh dear.. I'm just another American distorting your eloquent English language into a disaster... :sorry:

And a fine conduit you were, Mr. Teddy! :circle-of-love: Thank you very much for the offer, next time I'm a lonely frustrated sad mess and I need super kind, funny, like-minded friends to talk to, you and daTz will certainly be on the emergency contact list/ I hope everything is going wonderfully in the adventurous Anglo-Grecian life of Mr. + Mrs. Teddy :) And ohh shush, :laughtwo: you're growing medicine for your wife now, which she enjoys, surely you know a thing or two ;)

Unfortunately... My laptop fried itself like an egg today... yeah... I smelled something burning and was totally stumped -.- I looked everywhere. I went to my grow room. I checked our A/C unit and water heater. I even looked around outside. well it was my fricken laptop and all that extra searching only let it get over-easy -.- :wood::rollingeyes: Until we can get this fixed or - UGH - buy a new one... My time here on :420: will be limited to when I can use my dad's laptop - which to earn even the privilege of using, I had to cry my eyes out to my Dad over Lol. Hey I was so not about to lose this lol.

>.< what a day. :thankyou: to all of you very nice people who warmed it up a bit here, you guys really rock. :tommy: See ya soon!

You've a tough time caretaking good you're dad.
It would be tough on anyone.
Keep on strong, except when you don't need to be strong.

You are doing , as well as can be expected, and then much better than that.
Aw thanks Rado, I had a kinda rough day, I just didn't want to get on here and let the waterworks loose and bring everyone down. 420 mag tries to focus on the positives, me too. I have lots to be grateful for, and lots that many don't have.. that said, I'm still not made of stone.
Thank you for caring, you're too kind.. yet another awesome member here, but in your own uniquely cool way. :passitleft:

Oh by the way, to all it may concern haha, I finally got around to downsizing my obnoxiously large signature a touch :P was on my list for a while...

Hey SG,
Holy Sh*t! your journal goes fast. I can't keep up, lol. Hey please don't refer to me as a organic guru, that is ridiculous. All I am is really interested in the hobby. I love organics discussion, I love learning new stuff, but I'm not qualified to give advice really at all IMO. All good, no worries, just had to clear that for the record.

You are well on your way to a big harvest! Sweetness. Sounds like a bit of a bummer around your place, alcohol is really bad ( and legal, wtf), sorry to here that.

Hey when u gonna start a worm bin? You feed the worms the compost you are making now and they will make EWC that will really kick ass for you.

Where's your mulch? You ain't got none. :)
I keep finding more and more and more benefits to using a mulch layer. Really protects the soil, microbes, roots. Provides your indoor grow with a little added CO2. Also brakes down over time and increases the humus content of your soil, which is a very good thing. They say you cannot amend your way to a good soil , you gotta have that OM component (which breaks down into humus). For the immediate, mulching won't feed your soil but it will help keep it healthy. They look damn good anyway, not sure what you were trying to fix?

Have a good one

Lol well compared to me you're a guru Corgie ;) and whether you find yourself worthy of teaching or not, I'm learning from you :passitleft: but Yes Sir, no more guru-calling if that bugs you.

Yeah not gonna lie it can bring me down sometimes, but its ok. Yeah....... as much as I know about the history of cannabis prohibition, I'm still blown away every day how socially acceptable alcohol/alcoholism has become while cannabis is still misunderstood and feared. I mean I still remember my mom telling me before bed when I was like 10, "Promise me you won't ever smoke weed, promise!" ... as if she were making me promise not to become a serial killer. And at the time, she probably still had coke in her nose (not kidding). There's such a haze of confusion around weed because of crap like that, I mean I started high school as straight-edge as they come, like that girl that wouldn't even talk to stoners.... at least, fortunately, I left it as stoned as they come :D ;) :circle-of-love:

I've actually been looking into starting a red worm bin hahah. but out of money right now and need to do a little more research. I still have 15 pounds of wiggle worm EWC so, for the immediate time being, that'll have to cut it... but it will become a priority of mine asap :)

Actually, my dad and I are about to go get a truck load of free mulch from a dump nearby - probably tomorrow or the next day as I'm expecting company today. I've read about some benefits of mulch in several threads, (GardenFaerie's, PeeJay's, Yours, maybe Lester's etc.) haha so it definitely piqued my interest. I never mulched any of my plants before and didn't have issues - but that's not to say it wont be beneficial ;) I'm hoping it will be very much. My friend's finally driving out here with that 125w cfl :) and thank the lord - a gram or 2 to share hahaha. That'll have to hold me over to harvest >.< oh well. Waited longer in the past for sure.

What I was trying to fix was this mosaic of different shades of green that I would see worsening slowly on Mama every day, it was hard to get a pic that emphasized this, but trust me of all my plants for some reason Mama just didn't seem to be coming along as quickly or healthy as the others. Had to pick off at least 15-20 leaves a day from her for a while. Now, she's getting trichomes much much faster, and her leaves are pointing to the sun much more and are a more uniform, happy green.

Thanks for coming by COorgs. LOL yeah... I talk too much, sorry for making it hard to keep up. :Namaste::ciao:
Hey S.G.
Big Mama is looking great to me.:high-five:Your doing a fine job.
I think pop's will come around when harvest does.:Love:Your hard work will pay off.
I can't wait for an indoor update.
J6K:joint:
Hi Jimmy :passitleft: thanks so much, I sure hope you're right. My head might implode if after all this hard work my dad still just wants to keep slowly killing himself >.<

Aw that's too sweet, that you're excited for an indoor update, I'll definitely get on that for you. Probably tomorrow when I get that CFL into the veg room and finish tidying things up a bit, I'm sure my friend that's visiting will be all too eager to help..he's got a heart as big as his head. and thats big. :laughtwo:

So nice to hear from you again Jimmy :) take care! yourself and your plants!

Sorry for not updating or being on much. Lots of sh*t happening. My Dad's in jail without bond right now for being an idiot and driving drunk along with a re-issued old warrant for a fight he got in. Talking to lawyers and working on freeing the dumb ass jailbird >.< maybe its time for a file in a cake -.- someone just shoot me. make it clean and fast or I'll haunt you and make all your buds rot :o

As far as my plants everything's good, though they've been a bit neglected for 2 days, not being moved into the sun as much as they'd like. all my clones are in the veg room now, the 125w CFL is up and running, its daylight spectrum/2700k but hey, free is free, and I'm going to put a few clamp CFL's in for side supplemental lighting. You can tell a few of the indoor plants are re-vegging like mad, the leaves look like claws and there's more branches than any normal veg plant could have at that height without some major LST/scroging. Being new to re-veg clones, I'm surprised, happy, and a teeny bit revolted at the same time since they do not look natural.

My friend who brought the CFL also gave me a bottle of the only alcohol I actually enjoy lol. I figured I'd share that so that I don't come off as a total alcohol-bashing bitch. alcohol has its time and place, and for me, it is when I get a bottle of imported Disaronno Amaretto, (THANK YOU ITALIANS YOU F-ING ROCK) and have a joint to smoke along with it. That said, this 750 mL bottle will probably last me 6 months or so, so no I'm not a heavy drinker, but I do indulge once in a while :)

Ugh, all the bs in the last 48 hrs has convinced me to buy my first pack of marlboro 27's since high school though, and if the stress keeps coming and my plants keep taking their sweet ass time I'ma be well on my way to smoking cigs again -.- cross your fingers that I don't. I'll keep you guys posted and hopefully will have an update soon, see ya!

Knock it off SoulGirl. As Jimbo said, we're all family here. That includes having more than enough shoulders to cry on. We grow, we vent, we learn about growing, we help one another, we support each other, & most importantly we respect each other. Never feel like you can't cry your anguish here. You're amongst family.

PS, Your girls look great...
