SOGgy Daze Ahead For Mr. Krip!

Thanks for the link...good info

ALMOST A FULL PIC UPDATE! :yahoo:

I finally had a little time, so figured I'd try to finally get in a complete update and, as luck would have it, the batteries on the camera went out when I was about halfway through! :thedoubletake:

Anyways, here's a good overview with a bunch of pics I managed to get in before the batteries died!

First, the flower cab is looking good, but I have several spots open I'm hoping to fill with some clones, soon:

DSCN2256.JPG

I haven't been putting anyting in flower, for a while, that is less than 12" and you may be able to tell the plants are getting much taller than they were when they first started, but still nothing at 20":

DSCN2257.JPG

Here's some plants all due to be harvested over the next three weeks or so:

DSCN2258.JPG

Here's the original Lucy Bonsai mom that's flowering out. It's tough to tell in the pic where she ends and the other plants start, but she's got several nice sized colas:

DSCN2259.JPG

And, I even have a couple of Power Skunk in there, even though there are some issues with the PS clone I tried to rescue as a new mom when I decided to hold on to that strain:

Here's a couple of big Lucy buds:

And, speaking of big Lucy buds, I harvested two Lucy's this morning. One was 14.5" (about where they were finishing when I was putting them in flower at closer to 8" tall) and the other is 18". It doesn't seem like that much of a difference, but you can just tell by the pics how much more buds will come off of the 18"er:

Here's a few shots of the freshly trimmed Lucy buds before going into the dry box:

And, a close-up:

The veg cab is overflowing with moms, clones, and a few moms-to-be. In fact, it's so full I have another 6-7 clones vegging on the cloning side of the cab. Unfortunately batteries went out before I got to the clone side, but here's the veg side:

DSCN2271.JPG

There are only a few more things I really wanted to show everyone that I'll try to get complete in the next update. One of these was what's going on with the Power Skunk clone I took as a new Bonsai mom.

I'm not sure why, but the PS clone that was designated to be a new mom started to go into flower. It does appear she's reverted/reverting back to veg, but where I was a little unsure before, I'm now certain she started to go into flower, I just don't know why. The last pic I was able to take before I lost batteries was of the pistils that were forming on the PS:

DSCN2272.JPG

I don't know how well you'll be able to tell from the pic, but they are definately more than just pre-flowers. You can also just make out in the pic where she got her first topping. Well, needless to say, I was able to get her clone to root (but it took some time) and that has to revert back from flower, too! So, what I wasn't able to get pics of was that both PS clones are putting out 3-fingered leaves, which is a sure sign they're reverting from flower back to veg.

Some other things I didn't get pics of include the new Big Band Bonsai mom and her clones. The first Big Band clone will be going into flower probably sometime around Thursday, or so.

On another note, I did try to germinate one of the two Mango bag seeds I was so hopeful about, but it didn't sprout even after four days of soaking in a shotglass of water. I'm trying the second seed now and hopefully will have better luck, but I know (NOW!) I really didn't do a good job of ensuring the viability of the seeds which is a mistake I'll not likely make again! :)

Happy Harvests!

Wow the branches & stems are so thick! Did you do something special to get them like this or is it just natural growth? I mean it's like litte baby trees in there.

I haven't done anything "un-natural" to build up the stems, but here's the three things I do that help contribute to the thick stalks, NOT including, of course, the Bonsai:

1) Based on 420fied's advice, I try to select clones that have thick stems to begin with.
2) I have a good fan blowing on the clones constantly as soon as they come out of the humidity dome with roots, and all the way through flower.
3) In addition to a good nute program, I supplement with Silica all the way through veg and flower at just about every feeding (I discontinue about three weeks before harvest).

:Namaste:

Recipe for success! I use the same! Xlr8 swears by silica, and now.... so do I after using it only 2-3 weeks. Marked improvement in overall strength, and will never stop using it, now.

Oops!

I almost missed you....

Nice haul Mr Krip. Hopefully I get that kind of weight one day off my hempys.:peace:

Thanks, BCB! I'm quite sure you will soon, Brother!

I've tried letting them go a little longer, and did get more weight... Unfortunately, they seem to get really couchlock on me when I let them go too long, and I like more upbeat highs... So, I'm more of a 10% amber mostly cloudy guy I think.

Congrats on the nice numbers, though, and some beautious buds, bud!

Thanks, Brother! It's just another reason to test at different stages with different strains to see where you personally like each strain best and the point at which it stops improving. I just had never let a Lucy go beyond the 70 days and the difference was pretty remarkable. Although, being a "Type A" personality, I like more of a couchlock since it helps me relax. These days, I'm more of a "floorlock" guy because I find it's much safer down there than on the couch where you can get hurt if you're not careful! :)

Very well done Mr Krip! +reps but I have to spread some around.

Thank you, Bro! No problem....I still be here after you spread it around! ;)

Thanks for the link...good info

My pleasure, Sqwheels! :Namaste:

Yeah, I was given some as a "sample" at the hydro store about 8 months ago when I purchased the TurboKlone and I've been a fan of it ever since. :thumb:

Cool I did this drive bye perfect timing. Time to reap your rewards. Sweet looking bud on a stick. I always felt a proper SOG can put out some fine cola's. I've lost count on how many times I started out to do a SOG, but ended up making bushes out of them. They look fine there Krip. Lucy does have some nice cola's. I've never tried the strain myself but I've heard great things about it. Now, I see some more great looking bud's, 'yours' and I just hope she smokes as sweet as she looks. Let me know incase I miss it what the quailty ends up like after the cure. I judge mine on the old fashion 1-10 but I've yet to see a 10.

Thanks for the advice I will remember this for when I try cloning for the first time.

you mentioned ensuring the viability of the seeds... what do you mean? how do you ensure that?

also, you made a comment about noticing 3-fingered leaves, and that being a sure sign of reverting to veg. the three clones i'm growing right now were cut a few weeks into flowering. i remarked last week about them having single leaves. the largest is finally doing 3+. do you think the others are still working on going back to veg mode? i've just noticed a nice growth spurt in them, so maybe they finally gave in.

The 3-fingered leaves (tridents) are a sign that the plant is recovering from shock... Whether that means transitioning from flower back to Veg, or simply poor lighting conditions depends on the individual circumstance. In this case, if your clones were taken from a flowering plant, and put under a Vegetative light cycle, this would indeed mean that they are starting to reveg. However, if you monster cropped, and cloned from a flowering plant, into a flowering light cycle, the trident leaves show us that they have recovered from the shock of being separated from the original, and have roots enough to support the continuance of flower, and are putting out a few leaves to better their production of carbohydrates through photosynthesis before flowering continues.

In short: The growth of more blades in the fan leaves shows us, simply, that the plant is beginning to be happy again.

Everything Jandre said is correct. The only thing I would add is to NOT put them into flower until they're putting out leaves with 5+ fingers.

Thanks, NCW! :thankyou:

The Lucy is some pretty good smoke, but I don't believe the pheno I have is a good "specimen" of what Lucy should be like. After LOTS of testing, I do believe both the Pineapple Express and the Power Skunk are better smokes and produce better buds.

The Lucy buds tend to be "loosies" and not as dense as the other strains. I did notice that the extra week I've been giving the Lucy plants lately is resulting in tighter buds, but still not as dense as the others.

I had originally purchased (5) Lucy seeds and had lots of trouble getting ANY of them to germinate. So much so, in fact, I had come to believe the Lucy seeds must have been irradiated, or something, in shipment. As a result, I was only able to get ONE of the Lucy seeds to germinate and it's her genetics that are in ALL the Lucy plants.

I'd score MY Lucy at about a 7 on the 1-10 scale but I do believe there are Lucy phenos that would score a 9+ - unfortunately, just not mine! :Namaste:

In other news, hope you are well Kripster!!

Yeah, thanks Brother! :thanks:

I'm doing great health-wise but still schedually challenged. :)

I'm keeping up as much as I can, though. I've got another three plants to harvest tomorrow and a couple more to move into flower.

Plus, having honed my growing skills here on :420:, I've gotten back to an outdoor garden including a nice selection of fruit trees in the hopes of growing as much of my own food as possible, along with my own meds. So, many of my projects lately have been landscaping related; or just trying to keep up with work, managing something like 40 of our favorite plants indoors, and another 100, or so, fruit & vegetable plants outdoors.

Also, I just started a worm farm and am doing vermicomposting in addition to the bokashi, so hopefully I'll be able to harvest my own worm castings soon. Plus, the worms LOVE the bokashi!

Hopefully, you're doing well too, Brother. I've been doing a pretty good job of keeping up with your journal and know you were having some tough times a few weeks back, but it sounds like that's all behind you and the plants are looking great. I'm anxious to hear the reports on some of those crosses you're working on.

BTW....I haven't posted them here (I will now!) but check out these nugs I entered in NOTM I got from a friend:

He didn't know the exact strain, but it's some "killer purple something" that looks, tastes, and disorients incredibly!

Stay well, my friend! :high-five:

OMG! I just awoke from a nap and read that as sexually challenged! sorry, but that was too funny not to tell.

Those pics looks something like a nice Girl Scout Cookies! Did you notice anything different about their flavor?
