SOGgy Daze Ahead For Mr. Krip!

Rock on Kripster! Nice Lucy nuggage. Congrats! :bravo:

I was just thinking today, after feeling mad at myself for freaking out my plants on my bug eradication rampage, that I'm in fact lucky to have had so many smooth grows and great meds. No dealing with sketchy dudes named Maurice. Good luck with your harvest goals. You'll get there. :thumb:

Huzzah for growing your own!

Hmmm... :hmmm: I once had a run-in with a sketchy dude named Maurice...ended much better for me than him, but it still took several months and a few court dates to take care of that mess. I concur, less dealings with Maurices are a good thing!
Hey there MR. K! Things are running smoothly over here, and looking great! :bravo:

What percentage of amber do you normally go for?

:Namaste:

Hey X That's the name of my friend who moved to Costa Rica. Maybe you helped him get there.:smoke2:

That Lucy tricked me! she looked like she packed on a lot more weight that 10grams!
It must be loose bud! Hopefully it smokes amazing tho! I bet those extra days will make the truth come out of her!

I am def going to start a 1 week veg for a higher overall yeild.. that one week veg could def set it off for flowering!

By the way OMM! Costa Rica is one of the best countries in the world! i wish i could set up shop over there!!

Hey Brother's! Sorry for the absence, but all's well! I've just been overloaded with work and projects lately. I'll get an update in over the weekend, catch up on some journals, and respond to previous comments, then.

I hope everyone's doing great! :circle-of-love:

Happy Harvests!

QUICK FATHER'S DAY UPDATE

First, Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there!
Again, I have to apologize for being so scarce lately, but I've been absolutely slammed with work and personal projects. And, now I'm in a rush to get to the store to get something for my dad, then over to my parent's place for dinner, so even this update is gonna be a fairly quick one, and I apologize the pics aren't my usual quality.

Here's a quick shot of the flower tent, which was nice and full this morning:

I also harvested four FAT Lucy's this morning:

I didn't even have time to do my usual trim job prior to hanging them in the dry box, so I just got rid of the bigger/dead stuff and hung 'em up.

On a side note, one of my personal projects has involved my outdoor garden. For any gardeners that aren't familliar with it, you should check out "Square Foot Gardening" by Mel Bartholemew which is a technique to produce large yields in a small amount of space, and, coincidently, as growers, most of us are already practicing many of the techniques.

So, even though I consider myself a "hydro guy", all you organic soil growers will be impressed to hear I just applied my first batch of live nematodes, and, brewed my first batch of compost tea! :)

Happy Harvests!

OK my Bro's...it's after 4:00am here and I finally found a little time to get on and respond to you all. Thanks for bearing with me as I've been so busy. In fact, I have some awesome nugs I wanted to get into the NOTM contest this month, but just didn't have time to photo & submit them. I'll try to get some pics and entered next month.

Also, I'll do a quick update (no pics) after I respond to everyone....

Like I said before. NOT going to a dispensary/co-op and paying for bud so you can smoke your own "I know what's in it" bud is the goal of any grower. Next step? Grow some for the dispensaries!

Heheh! Excellent job, my friend! Well done, and +rep to you for self sufficiency.

Thanks, Brother! Much appreciated!

Yeah Mr. Krip! Down with the man! Power to the people!

We SHALL overcome! Koombaya! :)

Congratulations on achieving your goal!!!

I wish you luck in achieving your next goal of 1/2 oz/plant:goodluck::high-five:

Thanks, Bro! We're getting there...the plants are getting bigger! :MoreNutes:

it looks awesome!!

:thankyou:

Huzzah for growing your own!

Thanks, Brother! You got that right! Plus, if we didn't have to deal with some pest problems, environment problems, or nute problems every once in a while, we wouldn't be growers - we'd be "waiters" just waiting on the plants to grow themselves! :)

Hmmm... :hmmm: I once had a run-in with a sketchy dude named Maurice...ended much better for me than him, but it still took several months and a few court dates to take care of that mess. I concur, less dealings with Maurices are a good thing!

Thanks, again, Bro! In a "perfect" world, I don't go by percentage of amber, I try to sample along the way and figure out where I like each strain best. Some are better with more amber and some are better with less. I do tend to like couchlock, which usually means more amber. All the strains I have, according to the breeders, finish in about 56 days. I've had all strains on the same schedule of 70 days of 12/12. So, I had never really let the Lucy go past 70 days to sample her.

Some people call me Maurrrrrrice... 'Cause I speak of the pompetus of love.

You've got some awesome awesome-ness of awesome-osity!

He was just a "midnight toker" and I pretty much toke any time of day! :)
:thanks:

Yeah, she tricked me, too! Her nugs are definately loose and I know it's not the lights because the Pineapple Express and Power Skunk buds are nice and tight. It's just the pheno I have, which is why she's gonna be replaced soon.

nice thread, great size buds! maybe i missed it but what was your average yield for that first set of plants?

Thanks, Bro! Not counting those last four Lucy plants, which are still drying and haven't been weighed yet, the first 17 plants have yielded 6.39 oz. (181.1 g) which averages to 0.38 oz. or 10.65 g per plant.

Nice fat nugs Mr. K! They'll be so much prettier without all that brown dead stuff... you must really be busy lol

Thanks, Bro and yeah, they do look much better without all that dead stuff! :)
You're 420% correct - I have been REALLY busy, but managing to keep my head above water, so can't complain!

good god. those are some NICE buds!

:thankyou:

QUICK UPDATE

I haven't had a chance to take/post any pics on the veg side for a while, and will do that as soon as I get a chance. Until then, here's what's going on in there...

The veg cab is full, as usual, although, I've been doing a horrible job of keeping up with everything.

I took one of the Power Skunk clones to turn into another Bonsai mom after deciding I really liked the PS better than the Lucy. I've got two potential issues with her. First, I MAY have mixed her up with a Pineapple Express clone, so I'm not even sure she IS a Power Skunk, although, I do believe she is. And, next, I'm not sure why, but she looks like she started to go into flower. Her flowers haven't really been developing, and her growth seems slow, so it's possible she's reverting from flower back into veg. When you see the pics, you'll see what I mean.

Next, I've been taking as many PE clones as possible, since she truly is my favorite, so far. I did take another one of her clones to turn into a 2nd PE mom, but, since then, I've had some die-back on the main PE mom. I've been careful to leave plenty of green when I take the clones, so I can only surmise it's due to me taking too many clones in too short a timeframe. So, I'm gonna have to turn another one of her cloness into a mom to replace her entirely.

Finally, Baby Bertha, the new Big Band Bonsai mom, is now "Big Bertha". She's really not that big, but has given her first three clones, so now her clones are the "babies". I haven't yet put any of her clones into flower, but the first one is rooted and will go in a couple of weeks. The other two of her clones were just taken today.

The Lucy Bonsai mom is huge since I've been taking as FEW cuttings from her as possible, at this point. She needs a trim badly, even if I don't keep any of the cuttings! :MoreNutes:

Finally, on the cloning side of the cab, there are currentlly six cuttings rooting which include four Pineapple Express taken last Friday and the two Big Band clones taken today.

Again, I'll get some pics up ASAP!

Happy Harvests!

K

Lots been goin on here, K. Love the pics, even though they weren't balanced. Looks like you had a good harvest while I was at the lake: congrats on that! They look marvelously tasty to me. hehe, I think it's commendable even though life is demanding much, you have the time to chop, hang and report. Thank you very much for that.

Sounds like you have a lot going on in the veg area as well. Not sure why, but I've had a few go into flower mode then reveg for some reason, too. Maybe some suppressed ruderalis in there somewhere. Good luck with your new bonsai mums!

QUICK & INTERESTING UPDATE

After four full days of drying, those last four Lucy's were ready to jar this morning and I have some interesting statistics to report.

First, the one Lucy harvested before these (the one that fooled both Spirit & I, and probably some others) weighed in at only 11.4 g, but she was also only 13" tall.

These last four plants were all 15"-15 1/2" tall, which is still shorter than I'd like. But, two plants were harvested at 79 and 80 days of 12/12 and the other two were harvested at 71 & 73 days. Basically, since I've been so busy lately, rather than harvesting them all individually at about 70 days, I just waited on the older ones so I could harvest them all together at once.

Well, the two plants that were harvested at 71 & 73 days weighed in at 12.3 g and 12.7 g. BUT, the two plants that got the extra week or more weighed in at 14.7 g and a WHOPPING 16.6 g! :thedoubletake:

These are the first two plants of this SOG round to exceed the 1/2 oz. mark! :yahoo:

So, in addition to increasing the height of the plants, I think I'm gonna go from a 70-day 12/12 schedule to a 77-day schedule and see what happens to the other strains.

I'm pretty convinced that extra week, combined with an extra week on the Overdrive, makes a pretty BIG difference! :MoreNutes:

Happy Harvests!

K

Hey Mr.K,
Very nice #'s :bravo:gotta love those happy surprises. I've tried several 2L grows now and I only get about 1/2 that per plant. Love the lucy, sounds like she liked the extra days...what's overdrive?

Sounds like you're really busy so I won't nag...but I'm sure I'm not alone when I say...can't wait to see the new pics.

:peace:

Thank you, Sqwheels! :thanks:

Overdrive is a supplement from AN that you only add during the last two weeks before the flush. It's supposed to make the buds swell as well as increasing the resin production:

Overdrive Bloom Enhancers

I've tried letting them go a little longer, and did get more weight... Unfortunately, they seem to get really couchlock on me when I let them go too long, and I like more upbeat highs... So, I'm more of a 10% amber mostly cloudy guy I think.

Congrats on the nice numbers, though, and some beautious buds, bud!
