Thanks, GG! I'm WAY overdue for an update (sorry everyone! :sorry:), so will post a short one soon, but it's more of the same for a while. Keeping the same three strains in a perpetual SOG using the Bonsai moms.

That Lucy looks beautiful...love that strain...I will be growing it soon and after seeing this journal have been seriously considering a sog grow...you got my vote for NOTM good luck sir!

Thanks, Cmitch! :thankyou:

QUICK UPDATE - SORRY, NO PICS

I'm sorry it's been so long for an update here and I promise to post some pics soon, but at least wanted to let everyone know what's been going on.

I've been extremely busy on some projects, which has been keeping me from posting as often as I'd like and attending to the grow the way I should.

I do have four plants currently about 4 days in flower, but continued to have cloning problems, which I just solved, so hope to get back on track real soon.

After switching to the rockwool, which I was real comfortable with, I had high success in getting rooted clones, but a large percentage of them wilted and died within a week of being transplanted into hempys.

Even the ones that didn't die, were clearly not "healthy" clones and took (or are taking) some time to recover before they will be ready to even veg.

I was astounded by the low overall success and starting wondering why I was suddenly having these problems I never had before.

Then, it occured to me that, since I was taking a much larger number of clones and I didn't have a humidity dome large enough for the container, I was frequently misting the clones to help prevent transpiration.

I'm now convinced that this frequent misting resulted in the plants getting some sort of mold and rotting.

So, I purchased a small humidity dome, large enough for about 24 clones (max) and about 7" tall, with plenty of headroom.

I started another 8 or so clones last week under the humidity dome and only mist the bottoms of the cubes.

The clones all look much healthier and one is already showing roots. No signs of wilting on ANY of the clones done this way! :yahoo:

I'll post some pics soon and I appreciate you all hanging in there with me while I get through this busy period.

Also, thanks to everyone for their support and good words in the NOTM, POTM & MOTY contests! :thanks:

If you haven't voted yet, please do it soon! Their are some great members, plants, and nugs that all deserve some good recognition! :thumb:

Happy Harvests!

QUICK PIC UPDATE - BONSAIS & CLONES

Once again, much apologies for the infrequent updates over the last couple of weeks, but hoping to get back on track soon.

Here's what's going on right now...

Here's the Pineapple Express Bonsai Mom:

And, the new Lucy Bonsai mom-to-be (she'll be a 2nd Lucy Mom):

Also, just to illustrate the problems I described in my previous post regarding cloning, here's a pic of a Lucy clone (left) and Power Skunk clone (right) that were both taken about the same time and both started showing roots within a day of each other:

The difference is that the Power Skunk clone was misted and the Lucy clone was not. NEITHER were put under a humidity dome.

A week ago today, the new humidity dome came in and I took another ten clones including five Power Skunk and five Pineapple Express. They spent the first four days under a humidity dome and all are looking healthy:

I'll try to get some pics of the four girls currently in flower sometime soon, but not too much to see there, yet.

Happy Harvests!

I'm a fan of humidity domes, always have been, always will be. Even more important in the winter time when ambient levels are like 20% humidity.

I'm diggin those bonsai moms. My moms are getting a little out of hand, that and I have too many strains without any backup seeds so I have to keep a mom going. This is a good illustration of keeping good producing moms in a small area

In soil-less medium, those are prime. Your gene-line is impressive. And those could do 6-12 clones per week forever...

Maybe 900 ppm tap water at 5.5-6.6 ph range, gh line micro at 4 cc per gal, gh line grow at 4cc per gal, gh flower at 6cc per gal. which is light nutes, on a HID floro 8 bulb... at like 3 inches off the top, 70* F all day long... I might nut. lol.

With bases that sturdy, (like trees) you could potentially get a 36 head scrog for each plant.

I have a friend that does this for his mothers... They look bonsai because he has cut on them for years. What he does is a waning the light power tactic on his mothers by lifting the light 4 feet off the tops at the exact same stage you have going there...

Result is a stretch on the heads, vertically. When the stretch is just about ridiculous, he clones and is left with vertical shoots, long stemmed clones and the trimmed result coming off of his basket of dense folage off the tops doubles his heads on the plant.

Budding those mothers in a few years will be fantastic... kudos.

I agree 420%! High humidity is critical for the first 2-4 days. :Namaste:

Mr. Krip my friend, what are the ages of the Bonsai's? I bet their in your notes, they are missing from mine :(.

Hey, Bro!

Basically, they all started right around the last week in August or first week in September, so all are about 5 months old, now. The PS was started in the TK, so it's tough to gauge the exact day #1 of veg. Lucy was started in Rockwool and the PE was taken as a clone. Also, if you recall, the Power Skunk and the Lucy both had "rough" starts. The PS had some slight root rot from the TK and I had to do some minor root surgery, and Lucy was growing sideways into the cube, so both were a little slow getting going.
