SOGgy Daze Ahead For Mr. Krip!

Late to the party on this one, but subscribed for sure. This looks very similar to how my first grow is getting set up, with a couple of bonsai moms and a somewhat perpetual SOG.

And now, back to read the last 26 pages or so...:smokin2:

:welcome: fncg!

Glad to have you along.

Do you have a journal up on your grow yet? I'd love to see it! :thumb:

Hope you had a good Thanksgiving my good friend! GT's baby girl sure is a beauty, huh?

No doubt you have the 2 liter thing clicking now, those PE's look great to me. Nice SOG Mr. K! :high-five:

PIC UPDATE

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving weekend! Since it's been a while for a pic update, this one's gonna be a long one, so you may all want to grab a drink, take a toke, and get prepared....

First, on the cloning side, we're still moving slowly and I'm seriously starting to re-think using the TurboKlone. It's a great unit, but I just don't seem to be having the success with it that I've had in straight Rockwool. I haven't abandoned it yet, since I'm still "experimenting" with it, but if I don't see better results, I'll most likely either go back to cloning in Rockwool, or trying to clone right in the hempys.

Right now, I have seven plants in the TK, including four Power Skunk (left) and three Lucy (right):

I had taken five Lucy clones the week before I took the four PS clones. So far, I've had to toss one Lucy and a second Lucy rooted ealier and I'm working on making her into another Bonsai mom. But, after a full two week (plus!), none of the three Lucys left in the TK are showing any roots yet.

Of the four PS clones, the first one just started showing some roots. Actually, if you look close, you'll see the first root is growing right through the STG insert, which tells me it's another cutting that would have had issues in the neoprene:

Here's what's going on in the "Mother" side of the cab:

This is the one Lucy clone that just got removed from the TK and put in a hempy to be a mom soon. She has started her vertical growth:

Here's the original Pineapple Express Bonsai that started me on Bonsai and mothered most of what's in the flower tent currently. I recently moved her to a 2L hempy:

Here's the new Pineapple Express Bonsai with much better structure than the original, but all the new Bonsais need more time to grow out:

Here's the Lucy Bonsai, a little nute burned from a hot dose I mixed last week by mistake when trying to use up the last of my GH grow with AN micro & bloom :):

And, the Power Skunk Bonsai:

In the flower tent, things are moving along nicely and all the plants look healthy & happy. The first seven girls (right) have been in 12/12 for 50 days now, so we'll start flushing in two more weeks and harvest in three. The second six (left) have been in 12/12 for about 30-36 days (they went in staggered) and all have over a month left:

Here's some of the colas being harvested in a few weeks:

And, here's one of the PE's out of the tent for some pics:

As nice as the PE looks, I have to say, the Power Skunks looks even better! :thumb:

She's just covered in thick trichs, the buds look real dense, I really can't wait to try her!

Here's the PS:

Here's her upper buds:

And, check out these lower buds and then tell me if you think defoliation helps! :yahoo:

While I was dragging plants out of the flower tent for photos, I had to get a couple shots of the one Lucy that's in flower now. She's only been in 12/12 for 33 days, so won't be harvested until January 3rd (she'll be my first plant harvested in 2012!). She's got a nice lemony/grapefruit smell right now, and her trichs are just starting to really come in:

So, other than still needing to pick up the pace on the cloning, everything is looking real good, and, as I've been told by OMM, XLR8, and a few others, I think this SOG style of growing will end up being my calling.

The elimination of veg really cuts electric costs and speeds up the time to harvest, and I can already see, even with my "too short" clones I started with, I'll still have a better yield in the same space than I would have had with "full-size" plants, and most of it will be from "main cola" buds.

Happy Harvests!

K

Absolutely beautiful Mr. Krip. The numbers on the bottles call to mind Deal or No Deal, and I'll take what's in #11. ;)

You sure are right about the Power Skunk, she's drop dead sexy.

Thanks, Brother! Thanksgiving was great and yeah, GT's girl is an absolute "Honey"!

I do kinda feel like Monte Hall with all the numbered bottles and the two strains I haven't tried yet...Kinda like, "Would you be willing to trade that PE for what's behind door #2?" :cheertwo:

I hope you're doing well and had a great holidy. You do know that you were one of the buddies I was thinking about when I posted that Dana Carvey video, right? :)

I'm looking forward to seing your harvest and getting your report on the Lucy, since you'll be harvesting a few weeks ahead of me. And, I've got to say, you've really "killed it" on this grow with that new Flow & Grow system! :welldone:

It seems to be working great for you and producing some fantastic buds! :high-five:

Well Mr. K, I gotta tell ya, I'm really considering trying this route. You've done it justice a sfar as I can see. Well done my friend!

Thanks, Bro! :thankyou:

I hope you had a good Thanksgiving and things are settling down for you a little! :high-five:

hey mr. K i was just wondering how tall ur plants usually get at harvest time?

Hey, HFiend! That's a good, easy question, so sorry for the long answer. :)

Technically, there is no "usually" (yet!) since this is my first run at a SOG.

I'm essentially copying a style by 420fied (and others before him) and, if you really want to see how this is supposed to be done, checkout his first SOG journal (he has a second one that's also worth looking at you'll see in his sig).

If done as I had hoped, the plants would finish around 18"-24". But, I actually cut the clones too short for not giving any veg time and, as a result, this first batch of plants will finish at closer to 12"-15".

The next batch of plants will be take as larger clones and/or will veg to 5"-6" before I put them in 12/12.

and wat is ur avg dry weight per 2L

sorry if u stated earlier in the journal just curious thought it would be easier just to ask

I don't think Mr Krip has an average yet, but 420fied was getting around 15-16g per plant on his very similar setup.

fncg is correct!

Just beautiful Mr. Krip. :cheertwo:

PS..Jo did not like the old folks jokes. :smokin2:

Thanks, OMM! :thanks:

Sorry Jo didn't like the jokes, and if she didn't like those, she'll HATE this one:

An old man was laying in bed in the nursing home. Suddenly one of the elderly female patients comes into the room, jumps up on the bed, pulls up her dress, and says, "It's Super Pussy!"

The old man looks up at her, thinks for a second, and says, "I'll take the soup!"

(on second thought...maybe you shouldn't tell Jo that one, at all! :) )

Plants are looking good Mr K. I think you should try a clone or two direct into a hempy, just use a dome to keep in humidity for 7 to 10 days. Your veg/mother area looks like it could support larger moms (bigger bonsai)

Hey Mr. Krip - Yeah, that video sure hit home a little too much! Haha. It does suck getting old, even worse when your body feels so much older than it really is. Oh well - just gonna keep smiling best I can! :)

Thanks, OG! You're correct that my "mother" side of the cab can support larger bonsais, and I've been trying to let the moms grow out, while, at the same time, I've been trying to take clones to feed the SOG. So, the growing out part is taking longer than it normally would.

I am definately considering cloning directly in hempys, or rockwool, or anything that gives me a higher success rate than I've been getting with the TK.

I like that the TK packs so many sites into such a small footprint, but, until I can either increase the success rate, or take a lot more clones at-a-time to fill more sites, it's proving difficult to really get the tent filled as the bonsai moms still growing out.

All options are on the table! :)
