SOGgy Daze Ahead For Mr. Krip!

Mr K, are you not worried about the light getting through the wrapper/labels on the bottles and harming the roots?

OG, I had thought about painting the entire 2L bottle, but, based on 420fied's journal, I've just painted the bottoms. So far, everything seems fine, but it is still early.

I sure hope it's not an issue, but if it becomes one, I'll just paint the whole container.

QUICK UPDATE

There is another concern I've had, that I was hoping wouldn't be an issue, but it now looks like it may be a "little" challenge...

Those of you who followed my last couple of PE grows will remember me commenting on how little stretch those plants seemed to have, typically not even doubling in size during flower.

Part of me thought this would be a real advantage in a SOG, but, another part of me was wondering how tall the plants would really get going 12/12 right from clone.

Well, for the first two weeks of 12/12, everything seemed to be on track compared to 420fied's grow, in terms of size. His plants were about a foot tall two weeks in, and finished at 18"-24". But, the last couple of days, it really looks like the PE's have slowed in their stretch and are hanging at about 10"-12".

The first seven plants are due for their defoliation on Saturday, which will mark the end of the first three weeks of 12/12. The defoliation will also stop the vertical growth. So, now I'm a little concerned that my SOG plants MIGHT finish at only about a foot tall each.

If I find this is the case, I may need to let the PE's get a little taller before I put them into 12/12.

I should know more by the end of the week.

Happy Harvests!

That power skunk looks seriously sturdy! :goodjob:

Thanks, G-Speed! Yeah, that PS is VERY sturdy. Nice, thick stalk that should be able to support LOTS of buds without needing to be staked/tied... Gee, I sure hope I need to stake/tie it! :)

When the bowl was finished, Johnny said, "Hey man, that stuff was great! But fill your lungs with some of this, and prepare to vegetate!"

Yee haw! Fun video Mr. K. :thumb:

Oh, and sending you good vibes for some taller PE's. :goodluck:

Thanks, Bro! It looks like I'm gonna need it, but should be interesting none-the-less!

PIC UPDATE

Well, let's get the bad news done with early, then we can move on to the better stuff...

I now have something like 6-7 clones in the TK showing roots, which normally would be good news, but, on many of the clones, the center growing shoots have essentially wilted, even while the leaves have stayed green.

Here's a few examples of what I'm talking about...all three of these clones show roots and the stem isn't rotted or anything:

If I had to guess at the problem, I'd say it was because the clones were too short, so I had them sitting too low in the neoprene collars and the center stalk got wet and wilted.

There are three more clones that were showing roots, but centers didn't look well, that I moved to hempys to see if they recover better there.

Luckily, the Lucy clone was big enough that her center shoot is well out of the collar:

The Power Skunk mom is growing out her four new tops and I moved her from the 12oz to a 16oz hempy:

And, the Lucy mom is working on her four new tops, too. She'll get moved to a 16oz. hempy in a couple of weeks, or so:

Here's the Power Skunk clone that will be added to the SOG probably Thursday:

But, I did add another PE clone and the Lucy clone to the SOG today. It's been a LOT of trying to finally get a Lucy into flower! :yahoo:

I hope she finishes well and I can increase her numbers once her mom and sister grow out some more!

So, now we have a total of 11 plants in the SOG, 4 of which were added this week. Here's what's in the tent:

The two off by themselves to the left are the PE and Lucy I just added today. Here's a closer look at them with Lucy in the back (top):

Here are the two PE's that got added yesterday:

And, here's some shots of a few of the first seven PE colas with the buds starting to fill in. I also expect to start seeing some trich development soon! :yummy:

The PE's are all within about 1/2" of each other in height and all stand right around 11" tall after 17 days of 12/12. The Power Skunk is a couple of inches taller. I'm hoping they all put on at least a few more inches by the end of the week!

Happy Harvests!

Hey Mr.K,

I just got here, lots of catching up to do...Just had to tell you things look great. I'm subbed, now I have to go back a read from the beginning. Looking forward to the journey

:peace:

That greyish look to your pics just freaked me out! I was sitting here looking at them and they looked like blades or some kind of sculpture. It might be because I'm heavily medicated. Either way, It looks amazing!:adore:

Thanks, Bro! Those pics were actually taken under the LED light using the cameras white balance (thanks again, Twelve!). It definately gives them a little bit of a "metallic" look, although, I'm not disputing that you're heavily medicated! :)
