Snow White & More

re: Snow White & More

mono, you think I will run similar temps as 9 cfls? it is winter here and the outside is nice and cool. on top of that they're in the basement so its extra cool. I can run 6 cfls with no fan.

The most you may have to do is add a very small fan to blow between the bulb and the top of the plants, or just keep the grow area open. I run my 600 watt hps, and cool it with two fans blowing in the base of the tent, works wonderfully with a window open in winter :)

re: Snow White & More

don't forget fans also used to help strengthen the stem
imitating wind outside

re: Snow White & More

Good air circulation is critical for a few reasons it also helps prevent an area from starting to breed funk like powdery mildew and bud rot.

re: Snow White & More

6 weeks 4 days old

snow white #2 has been fed with a light biobizz mix (2.3ml to 16 oz) because the urine was becoming too much for them. it REALLY fed them good though.

still debating the hid in this closed area

re: Snow White & More

let me ask you guys a question. i'm running about 185 watts of fluorescent lighting and the temperature is fine. will a 150 watt hid run warmer than 185 watts of fluorescent lighting?

i'm also thinking about buying a 125 watt cfl and hanging that as well to get about 250 watts of fluorescent lighting. will that be cooler than a 150 watt hid?

re: Snow White & More

Hi again b.real

I think the 150w hid will be warmer than fl and from what I remember the 125w cfl doesn't produce much heat (used to have one)

The only advantage of getting a hid would be light penetration below the canopy level.

re: Snow White & More

flouro tubes are pretty much the coolest besides led's even the led's throw out some heat
hid's always produce heat for me I haven't used any so I don't know how much of a difference
what I do know is big cfl's do run hotter than flouro tubes how hot in comparison to hid's im not sure
I know I didn't help much but smokey seems to know
I thought big cfl's run a little hot in my opinion I know someone who uses them and his tent is mighty warm in there

re: Snow White & More

they do run pretty warm which makes me think I may be ok with a 150 watt hid in there. problem is I don't want the heat to collect and start a fire. I do have a fan in there though.

if I don't get a 150 watt hid I'm going to get that 125 watt cfl and run my current 6 cfls for a total of 250 watts of cfls. will that run the same temp as the hid or cooler? ugh lol

re: Snow White & More

you could always run ventilation through the hid they make it so you can cool it with the right hood

negative captain LOL. i'm not running nothing. oh well. im going to get similar lumens with 250 watts of clfs i've decided LOL.

still going to need to mount the hanging 125 watt cfl unit so I'll need your help there. gonna get the hydrofarm rig :)

ill put up the 6 cfls on the sides and run close to 15k lumens just like the hid.

i'm going to keep a close eye on current temps with current 180 watts of cfl starting tonight. just put a thermometer in there

the plants are 7 weeks old today, hope to harvest in about 5 more weeks :)

the camera died halfway through so I only have pictures of the most mature plant, snow white #1

looking good there Br :thumb:
no worries man if I can help im always glad to

re: Snow White & More

Looking good b.real!

If you are going to stick with CFL's, I would suggest you go for two 65 watt's rather than the one large one as you would be able to spread the light better.

For veg, I use 4 x 65 watt cfl's, and the growth rate is good with nice tight nodes.

The only benefit of HID lights is the penetration through the canopy, maybe not a concern if you are staying 12/12 from seed.
