Dr Bob would be correct any pistil would be suitable. The upside to doing lower branches are that you are less likely to inadvertantly seed unwanted areas. Just set your fans up higher so you are blowing down on your canopy. Secondly ofte times your tops will be ready to go but you maybe waiting on seeds to ripen. This happens when the calyx begins to pull away from the seed. this is known as dehiscence. That is the mechanism for a plant to disperse it's seeds so they hit the ground and have a chance to germinate. Otherwise you would have alot of happy birds! So by going to the lower branches you win... and win again! Cut your tops....get high and wait for your seeds to fully develope. Best of luck Joe!

Im only going to do the 2 screens this grow since it is just a test. Im doing it this way so I can record the results from each plant and different method.

So if you were to pollinate just one branch how many seeds you think you would get or if you just did one good sized nugget, cause i have to different plants that I'm gonna do it to. but I'm gonna do mine sloppy cause i really don't care about it getting all over the place. I'm in it for the seeds. but curious to about how many seeds and branch or nugget will produce. that way i know if i should do the whole plant or not.

one per each calyx that accepts the pollen.

Hey Joedaddy every pistil can collect pollen and create a seed. So count em up and everyone could become a seed site. That doesn't mean they will. Alot of that comes down to timing and temperature. But of course marijuana has never been a difficult crop when it comes to seed production.
 
Mr. uptheholler, it looks like you have "been there, done that" good to know as I am still in training for my very first grow in about 3 months, I will be looking for a better place for my "Grow Zone", when I'm ready I will start a journal...starting with my space and equipment. Can't wait, lots of smart people here in 420 land.:lot-o-toke::thankyou:

Well its gonna be next saturday until I post new ones im glad you like the colors. I try to get the best angles and have the fan blow a certain way. Its harder to get great shots on a cell cam but I like photography. If the male flowers open up I will take pictures if that happens before saturday but posting pics everyday I just dont think people get excited if they get used to the garden. Its mine so I am always excited about it but others might not be. Dont get me wrong I love taking the pictures for you all but it seems like the more i post the less and less people seem to respond and Ive never been one who does things just for the likes. I try to have all or as many posts as I can have significant meaning. I dont do posts with just a emoticon and I try to help as many as I can so try to make my posts mean something.

Hey SmokerJoe, I subbed to your journal in the hopes to learn (good and bad) please keep posting pictures all the way through, that's the only way I and others can learn and ask questions. A little secret about me, I have not grown in 40 years and would like to see what I'm in for. When I start my journal in three months I'm going to post pictures from the start (the room, than the equipment, the fans, lights, tray setup, nutrients, seeds to flower) so I can get as much knowledge on growing, as I grow. So, stay the course my good man we need you. And would you post pictures of the plants in early sexing, since you both male and female (I think) I would love to see the little balls or hairs. (I can't be the only non grow guy out there.:green_heart::tokin:
