SmokerJoe's Indoor Organic Soil Bagseed Grow

Yeah especially since ive been out since 1990 it seems. sigh. Well Im going to hit the showers and go to sleep. Hope for a full nights sleep instead of 3 hours. Its why im always here.

Another good collection method is to supercrop entire branches so they are horizontal, and then when the pollen sacks open, a collection sheet underneath will catch it all. It is much easier than cutting bit by bit, but either way works. I'm guessing you already have sacks open, or atleast they will start opening tonight. The sacks don't open up in synchronous, but they will start to open up more as it matures, so pollen collection can be somewhat tedious.

:goodluck:

Hey Joe! When the flowers open which will be a gradual thing. They will not open all at once. But rather gradually. This is a natural mechanism that allows plants to have pollen available as pistils are exposed. Just take brown or white paper lunch bags and pull your canopy on each plant together. The put the bag over the whole plant. When the enough flowers are open for you to collect just cut the stem bunch the bag around the main stem and shake away. As the stems and flowers beat against the bag the pollen will be collected and you won't have it flying through the air. Best of luck!

MOTM get's a jar of nugs?!
Nice!!
- About the supercropping, it looks like something i could benefit from in my closet.. since i could probably only fit a single regular plant in there in flowering, supercropping could be a great idea for my yield.. For my current grow im just going to keep on low stress training and see how it grows for me, i gotta get a feeling of how the plant progress is moving before i try out this method i think.. I'm keeping a close eye on your progress though! ;)

Away..congratulations! You have taken the first great step that many people miss. No matter what crop that you grow it is of primary importance that you learn to read the stages of your plant's growth. It's a feel thing... based upon very little observations...that you make while your plant is growing along. This will allow you to make pruning decisions, fertilizer applications, training decisions, watering schedules and light flipping decisions all at the right time to maximize your yields. You will find, as it is with every crop, that timing is everything. Once you are in synch and zoned in you will be able to maximize your yields. I predict good things for you. I can give 2 plants the exact same attention as far as watering, fertilizer, pruning but mess up the timing on one and nail it on another and the difference in results will be astonishing. This goes for every crop I grow on our farm.

Instead of 3 it turned out to be 4 today(hours of sleep). Well going to play tropico 4 until the lights come on and go see if I have any other plants that need trained/retrained. I will say this 200 watt cfl is so much brighter then the old 150 watt cfl I had before its astonishing.

Hello hows it going. How are your plants? Recovering nicely still?

Yeah they are going through nutrient lockout. Flush once more. Dont wait until tomorrow because I can guarantee your plants may not wait until tomorrow to die.

All this talk on collecting pollen, is it almost time to create a new strain for yourself!?

What parents do you plan on using and do you know much about their genetics? if so briefly explain growing traits and experiences with the parents, if you don't mind.

Not many growers including myself have ventured down this road. ( mostly because of space for a separate tent, as I do not want a high yield of stems and seeds lol!)

I hear there are so many things to take into account when cross pollinating. Let us know how its working out!

Can't wait to see your little creation!

Sadly it is some bagseed. I believe it is a northern lights cross as someone mentioned previously but I cant be certain as I traced it as far as I could and none knew the strain. So this is to get some more beans until I can buy some strains from herbies or another sponsor. I will document everything in pictures though.

I have sure tasted some tasty green grown from bagseed though. It it really is NL then at least you will have something good until you bother with ordering seeds.

Bob ;)

Just caught back up. I have incredible difficulty sleeping and have my entire life. MJ is about the only non addictive, non opiate that actually can help me naturally rest. Even when I was a little kid I didn't sleep much and was constantly tired. Also, it is the only thing that doesn't feel like someone knocked me over the head with a frying pan to get me to sleep. I hate that blacked out feeling that other stuff causes.

May your flowers yield both large and quickly my friend.

Bob ;)

Never know man, some of the best things are total mistakes to start with. could end up with some monster strain lol!

Can't wait def keep us posted about that and any problems you encounter, like say getting pollen over to ur flowering girls. Thats what honestly scared me away from it, they say the pollen can get on ur clothing hands w/e then u go interact with ur budds and yeah.. lol

Well im gonna wear gloves and shower after handling the pollen

Hey Joe! That's the beauty of the bag method. Now just take the bag with pollen in it. Remove the male plants. Tap the bag gently on the side to knock any pollen to the bottom of the bag. Now take the branch that you want to apply pollen to. Gently bend the branch until it is in the bag. Crimp the bag around the base of the stem and give it a good shake. I mean really shake it around. Tap on the outside of the bag to knock excess pollen now down to the side of the bag. Open the bag up and gently slide it off of your stem.
If you want assure that other stems are not affected wrap some newspaper around the near by stems as blockers. Obviously don't run your fans for a while. And that does it. If done carefully only the stem that you want pollenated will be heavily seeded. I even have just left the bag on the branch with some twine tied around the bottom for a couple of days and then removed. Thgis method is not 100% foolproof but it works well. Especially if you are making specific crosses in the same room. It's easy to isolate which pollen goes where. Best of Luck!

Thanks again holler. Just waiting for the male flowers to open up to collect the pollen. I like that method you mentioned lot thats the one im probably gonna go with. I just figured if I use a brush I could be very specific. I dont want pollen on the leaves because the fans will blow that shit everywhere. Question though. Will the seeds be viable if I put the pollen on the popcorn buds? I dont want to use a cola for this.

This one I do know, yes you can pollenate the smaller buds for sure. I don't know that I would bother with the really tiny buds but a decent popcorn piece should do fine.

Thats what I figured to do. A few smaller buds vs my big colas.
