hey smoke, what do you use for the clones, do you use the gel or powder, i just wondered as you have been cloning into soil like i have, ive been using the gel but it seems it takes a while to get rooted, seems very slow,

Some strains are slow to root. I have found that GDP is a very slow one to root, up to 21 days even in Aero. Don't know about what you're cutting and trying to root, but it just could be a slow rooter.

ive been taking cuttings from special kush which i got in flower, the seed cost me £1.40 from herbies, i took clones from the freebie seed herbie sent me with the special kush and thats northern lights cross big bud femenised, and my last 2 cuttings where taken from the ak47 cross uk cherry cheese 2ltr dwc hempie, so i cant really say about them having slow rooting, but the others do seem slow to root, the plants are alive so i know their rooting but they seem very slow, ive seen people take roots on here and it has thick short roots, mine seem to have small thin long roots but takes ages to grow them, so im thinking hydro must root quicker, but say i used the aero garden to root the clones, dont the pump wash the rooting gel off the stem, as its constantly pumping 24 hours a day,

when i grew 9 years ago i never even used rooting gel for the first few clones, i just cut the clone and stuck it in compost and sprayed it often and i got 100% success with them clones using no rooting gel or powder, but then i switched to rooting powder and got the same results, this time im using gel that looks like goo, it dont really stick to the stem, i dip the clones into it and leave them in for about 15 seconds as stated on user guide, but the gel seems to stick together and when i pull the clones out the gel dont stick to it, it is wet from the gel so i think its working i just dont see a load of gel on the clone, but ive only lost 2 clones so far, the others are alive as the leaves are healthy and a couple have started to grow slightly, but on all the vids i have seen they pretty much quick to root and start growing, my clones are all smaller than the ones in the videos, such as when i top the plant and branches i have grown these, and the hempie i cut of 2 branches that was 2 inches long and put gel on them and planted them, it says on the pot to cut at 45 degree angle then gently scrape the stem where you make the cut to improve the chance of rooting, so ive been doing this,

its working but seems slow and i lost 2 clones, maybe the compost is not light enough and dont let the roots grow, seeds seem ok to grow in it so think the clones should do the same, but im really not sure,

Root Tone powder is what I use. It works fine, the cuttings started to flower, so I had to wait for them to reveg before putting them outside. I thought it was the roots but when I put them in the ground they (Omrita Rx) had great root structure. Strawberry Cough is notorious for being hard to clone in soil, most people just go hydro when growing it. Its one that in grown exclusively indoors. I will have pics tomorrow of the progress and problems when the sun comes out.

hey no probs. thanks for the info, im not saying that this was my problem but it sure does look like it, the soil around it was ok, but it looked as if the roots had grown into a rock hard piece of soil, so they had grown in it from the top and i dont think they could grow through it and out, when i pulled it out it was like a big block of soil and i had to be very careful to break it up, but it wasnt easy it was like a rock hard piece of mud so thinking the seed had grown roots and they had grown into this clump and they couldnt grow out of it, so now when i plant clones or seeds i check all the soil by hand before placing anything in it, if its a small pot i put the compost in by hand and i have found plenty of really hard compressed pieces that was hard to break up so i take the time now to go through what i use and remove them or break them up,

For soil, I swear by RooTone. Green Light used to make it, but now it's by GardenTech; wonderful stuff.

is it a gel or a powder, 9 years ago i used powder and it seemed to work very well, i didnt even have humidity domes on the clones i just cut them and dipped them in the powder and put them in pots and i had 100% success with no experience at doing this, but the gel im using now dont seem to stay on the stem when i pull it out the gel, would it be worth putting some in the hole i poke to place the clones in, im not talking a huge amount just a small drop to go in the hole then place the cutting in, would this work better, ive lost 2 clones so far out of about 10 so i know thats not bad going, but if i can get 100% then ill be even happier, i would of bought the powder type but without looking online the only shops i went in sold the gel type that really stinks bad, but i might look online for the powder type as i remember it stuck to the clone really well, i used to take the cutting and rest it in water while i took the other cuttings then id scrape back a tiny bit of the stem then cover with powder and place in pots, but the gel dont seem to stick no matter how long i leave the clones in the gel

The gel sticks. It's really concentrated, so all you need really is a thin film. You could dip the tip in the gel and let a drop fall into the hole, but it really will do no better. Just don't water the substrate. Use a mister on the inside of the dome, and a quick spray on the leaves.

Vitagrow will root a popcycle stick. I got a friend who swears by willow water. Something he makes out of willow branch tips seeped in water. He pours enough boiling hot water to cover just willow stems cut in small pieces, then let's it soak over night. Soak your cutting in it for 1/2 hour and plant. Just thought I'd see whats up with ya back there in Oaktown. I use to live there along time ago. The Hood I lived in ya better not grow anything outside, or you'd get robbed by them fools. Ofcourse I was in the deep east around 82nd and Mac Arthur. Scary thought. Trying to grow there. I did a flip inside there once but I was to worried about getting robbed to be comfortable. So I moved to Tracy and found a perfect place to grow. Altamont Pass or in the Delta on a island somewhere. Looks like you put your plants out early. You planing on revegging them? Days getting longer. Well GL to ya 2jays and Keepem Green

I used to make willow bark tea to drink, and also to root plants in the greenhouse and in the nursery. It really does work. You can also boil it down to make it a bit stronger and dribble it for girdling a tree limb.

Actually, it has anti viral, anti microbial, and antioxidant properties as well. Slipped my mind on that last post.

Update , garden is looking great, I should have pics and a short movie soon. I had to figure out a problem. They all had symptoms of being root bound. I checked a few, not so . The soil was dry, too dry even when I watered every day. I came to the conclusion that the heat and wind evaporated water from the potted plants at a rate faster than the plants could handle and I could replace. I thought about putting them in a kiddie pool, but nixed it cause of animals, squirrels, cats, opossum, hippopotami. I put them under an improvised screen to partially shade them. Watering every 2 days now, just fed them this morning , all are looking great and loving the BPN!!!

Sooooo, Re Veg pics !! It's a slow process when you don't put them under 24 hours of light to re veg. But it is still amazing!!
